Hi all - I suffer with PCOS and my symptoms include too much testosterone which therefore causes no menstruation, very dark skin where insulin builds excessive weight and hirsuitism. I have been prescribed various things such spirolatone, metformin, vaniqua cream and finally a gastric bypass.
I have real issues with taking medication - especially as in my head I was only young when prescribed (21-23) so I only took the Spirolactone for about 6 months. I saw not difference. I also had one or two periods when I was 13 and none since then.
I have since had the bypass and lost 5 stones so far and countying, and the reason I am posting this is that since losing the weight, I have had 3 periods, each month without fail! So for anyone out there that is really struggling with the lack of menstruation, weight loss really does help! I feel like a woman, a real woman!
I couldnt lose the weight alone and needed help so go see your GP if you find that you are the same!
