What Diet?

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this!

I'm still researching on what diets would be best. Had a look and most classes are around the time I'm still at work! (I work 1030am-7pm)
My breaks can be a bit weird so my eating is kinda over the place a bit! This doesn't help when I'm on a sit down at a computer all day job!

I don't do breakfast (which I know I should). At the moment theo nly thing I'm doing is My Fitness Pal started exercise this week.

Any ideas? I can't really do all the fancy lunches etc as I don't have the time to do so and by the time I finish I can't be bothered making a fancy dinner.

Well, I would suggest slimming world because I'm doing it and it's easy to follow. You can prepare your lunch to take with you and get dinner prepared before 10.30 if you get organised. They do great cookery books - get the meals in 30 minutes one and you'll be flying. Have you got a slow cooker? Then you can chuck the ingredients in and have a nice meal for when you come home. Make extra so you can freeze meals too.
Good luck. Any decent diet requires cooking and at least with SW you know you're eating a really good diet that you can carry on eating for the rest of your life. I tried WW but was always hungry. SW is more flexible.

That's a difficult question to answer Jenn. It's a case of what suits you isn't necessarily what has been good for someone else... but then you don't need me to tell you that!
If work is the big problem then perhaps calorie counting would be the best especially as you are already on MFP. That will allow you to adjust as you go along and have meals which will already be calculated for you. Biggest aid to the not being able to cook when you get home..is to have something you have made or prepared when you have some leisure time and keep it in the freezer if possible. You can put in your own recipes on MFP too which then will calculate your cals for each portion.
Wishing you well in your searching.

We're roughly the same weight I think going by the stats.

It's a personal choice obviously - I don't think SW would be a good idea as I have heard there is a lot of preparation of food (although the post above that contradicts that, I guess it depends on what you want to cook) - WW you can have a little of whatever you fancy but in moderation - it also preaches the ethos of home cooking.

Calorie counting maybe a way forward - however, when I did it I found myself relying on ready made meals/sandwiches/eating out - the drawback of ready meals is that not only are they on the smaller side than something you could cook for yourself for the "same" points/syns/calories, they are packed full of sugar and preservatives which I always though hampered my weight loss.

I'm currently about to start a VLCD (very low calorie diet) called Slim and Save - it's a shake, bar or meal 3 or 4 times a day (depending on what plan you use), plus 200g of specific vegetables and 100g of protein if you do the 3 pack a day plan. It's strict, but it gives you good results quickly. It's along the same lines as Cambridge Diet/Lighter Life but cheaper and the shakes are better. It's also incredibly easy to do - you don't have to think about food and when you're going to get your next meal from. Drawbacks are that you can't really eat anything apart from what is on the sheet, which makes socialising a bit difficult.

Good luck with whatever you chose.

I worry about some of these diets as I wonder how helpful they are for when you've lost the weight. For me, what appeals about SW is that I have learned to cook and eat differently so that in theory, I won't go back to eating like I did before, which was why I had to diet in the first place.
Eating healthily means cooking however you look at it. All those ready meals are a)small, b)expensive, c) nasty!
It's a change for life, not just until you lose the weight. Permanent weight loss isn't a quick fix jobbie!

I lost three stones with SW however have now switched to CC.

I was just eating too much on SW- although the plan doesn't say "carry on eating even after you're full" my portion sizes were way too big and for over a year I was just back an forth with losing 7 lbs and gaining it back again.

I am now CC and I have taken the principles of SW but have now measured portions and don't eat over my daily allowance. This is my second week but I do feel much better now- and had a fantastic first WI.

It is difficult choosing a diet and I would say, learn what SW teaches u about food and calorie count lol because I'm now using the best of both worlds.
