What do you think is the hardest part of maintaining? And how do you deal with it?

Hi there,

I've only been maintaining for 8 weeks and seeing your posts and threads are a real inspiration, giving me the "yes I can do it!" feeling...

For me the hardest part so far has been the knowledge that 95% put the weight back on, plus more... I've lost 77 lbs and the idea of putting that on plus more leaves me cold.

I'm dealing with it by keeping everything going that helped me lose - I'm with Weight Watchers so I keep going to meetings, keep an eye on my points, write everything down and keep the exercise going....

I guess you have to formulate a strategy for dealing with this? make sure you still weigh yourself and don't take your eye off the ball. This is what I plan to do and then maybe allow myself what I want weekends but be really good in the week. Good luck, you've done brilliantly!

For me it is not living in fear of putting the weight back on! If you do then you will always be looking over your shoulder and worrying about what you are eating.

I enjoy being slim too much to put weight on but I never live in fear of it.

And as I have said before the biggest thing for me was getting rid of the emotional benefit I was getting from food as my weapon of choice for comfort, boredom, stress, good day, bad day etc etc.

Thanks Hanlojo - The weekly weighing is so important will deffo be doing that (especially now I get it free!).

Icemoose - I guess you're right, I shouldn't fear the weight gain - unfortunately having lost the weight before and regained (plus more) I know it happens - my head is in a much better place now though, so with enough support I will remain slim. I saw your before piccies - you are a real inspiration...
