What instead of cream?

pizzle84

I will do this!!!
iv got a recipe i want to make, its a sweet potato and spinach bake but the top layer is made from 300ml single cream.....what can i use instead?

I would use creme fraiche (1.5 syns per level tbsp) or fat free greek yoghurt (syn free). You can also use vlf fromage frais which is also syn free but I prefer the other.

ok cheers

Its 1.5 syns per level tbsp for HALF FAT creme fraiche
Full fat creme fraiche is 2 syns per tbsp

I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread but a recipe my husband loves uses double cream and I was wondering what I could use as an alternative, double cream is thick so not really sure.. Any ideas? X

For what it's worth, I usually substitute Total 0% fat Greek yoghurt - similar properties and totally yummy :)

I've just bought a big tub of Total 0% Fat. Gorgeous, thick and creamy, and syn free!

Haven't used it in cooking yet as I'm enjoying just eating it with a spoonful of strawberry jam!
