Where the bargains are at and anything else thats useful.

Check out the 'world foods' aisle at Tesco or Asda - a lot of stuff is MUCH cheaper there. For example chick peas and cannellini beans - 4 cans for a pound as opposed to 60-odd pence each in the 'normal' canned food aisle. I also got a massive bag of garam masala for around £2 - and it contains at least five times as much as the jarred garam masala on the spices aisle for a quid! I've found massive bags of red lentils there for the same price as the small bags in the 'healthy foods' section as well.

What a great tip. Thanks for that

This is a great thread. I'm definitely going to be checking it out frequently for all the offers and adding my own too when I spot them :D

When doing it look at the ingredients. You may find there are more of the first ingredient(chickpeas, tomatoes etc) in the more expensive ones and the cheaper version has more liquid or other ingredient.

I'll do that. Thanks again :)

I do this, specialist rices are so much cheaper too!

If you spend £40 at tesco they give you £5 voucher for next shop.
We did a shop the other night and Hubby and I split the food between us so we got 2 vouchers lol xxx

Actually although they're not shouting bout it they actually have small signs in store. "Spend only £20 for the £5 off"!!

It must have finished - we did our Tesco shop yesterday which came to over £20 and I didn't get a voucher back. However, I did use 2 Sainsbury's vouchers at £4.50 each so was quite happy with that saving :D

Do they honour Sainsburys vouchers at Tesco?

So does that mean that you can go into any store with any voucher and they'll take it?

I think all of the supermarkets are honouring each others at the mo! Price wars!! X

So does that mean that you can go into any store with any voucher and they'll take it?

That's my understanding?

Maybe it's just here? Both out tesco and asda had signs out a few weeks ago saying 'we accept vouchers from asda/tesco/morrisons' with pictures of said vouchers on?

Don't take my word in case it is only my locals?

Lamb shoulder £3.99 a kg, a superb price for a lot of meat. Shoulder has a bit of fat on it, so you'll have to trim it! Excellent price and would be a great boxing day meal.
