Why did everyone choose JUDDD

Hello i thought we could have an inspirational thread about why we chose JUDDD

For me i love the fact its a diet that wont affect social plans!!!!
And requires very little planning and obsessing about food.

I have always been overweight - even as a teen County level track and field pentathlete. Later as an aerobics instructor. Fat and fit used to describe me well.

I have dieted once - to get married, 23 years and 4 weeks ago!

I have never wanted to start a diet that left me high and dry once I lost some weight. I read about this in January and started (and fell off) and re-started 7 weeks ago.

JUDDD has given me a lifestyle diet that helps me overcome a lifetime of over eating without feeling guilty if I 'fail' a day. After all it is only one of 2 -3 days in any week I can fail. And I can always adjust and keep to the plan :)

So.... it is a lifestyle I can fit into my life. Not a diet that rules my life!

Except for the headaches, weird cravings and scales that bounce.... what's not to like? ;)

I've been doing weight watchers and other various calorie counting diets for ages and then I was perusing around here on minimins and kept seeing this JUDDDD and I was like what the hell!? So u googled it and thought I'd give it a try been on it a week and a half and I love it, watched the horizon programme and now I'm even more obsessed with the health benefits of it! Lost 3lbs so far, hopefully I'll keep it up and I can really see this as being a way of life for me!

I started a vlcd in June with the aim of doing 8 weeks on that only and that I would then have shifted a fair bit of the weight and got myself to a stage where I could run again. I started to think about what to do after the 8 weeks about 4 weeks in. A few years ago, I lost a lot of weight by calorie counting but couldn't bear the thought of feeling a little bit hungry all the time. So I dismissed that idea. I then thought about low carbing. Cake and low carbing happen to be pretty poor bed fellows, so that idea got dismissed as well!

Cue, much researching over the Internet about what to do and I came across IF and ADF in particular. It was like the scales fell from my eyes. I started about a week before the Horizon programme which I watched with my hubby - he then totally understood what and why I was doing this and has actually joined me doing 5:2.

Primary reasons: the least painful way of losing weight for me - I can cope with one day of a hunger at a time. I have lots of energy to do my running - now back up to 10k and speed improving. No food is not allowed - this is a really healthy way of looking at food for me. I am not separate from friends and family when socialising and my children see me eating normally. Of course, the health benefits are awesome.

I'd seen a trailer for the Horizon programme and my partner had watched it and told me how interesting it was. I then had a watch on iplayer and was very impressed byt the health benefits as much as the weight loss.

It was going through my mind when someone I vaguely know told me how they'd managed to shift over a stone painlessly in about 6 weeks through following JUDDD. I did some reading and to me it seems the perfect diet for my "All or nothing" mindset so here I am a week and a half later - on a DD but strangely enjoying it. Oh and the OH has decided to start today too!

I first started Juddd in Jan 2012, I have tied every diet going been successull on most but never got to where I WANTED BEFORE i GOT FED UP AS i REALLY WANTED steak and chips or some chocolate and of course on most plans once you have fallen off the wagon and tasted the forbiden fuit its very hard to get back on the wagon. I think we have all been there. I got down to my wedding weight of 8 stone after my first was born and kept it off for 5 years , I dieted during the week and enjoyed my weekends, but more babies followed in quick succession and so found myself with a big mountain to climb and got fed up or disheartened on most plans as I needed a long term plan. Que Juddd I can't remember how I first stumbled across it but I loved it instantly. So I did Juddd for 4 weeks in Jan and lost 13lbs it was like I had found the perfect diet for me at last! Sadly my Father was in the last stages of terminal cancer and passed away in early Feb so diet went out of the window , it didn't seem important. So when in April I knew I had to address my weight problem I knew Juddd was the answer but I wanted a boost to start me of so did VLCD for 3 weeks then back to Juddd I came and havent looked back. I am just about to embark on week 19 even though I have just had 4 UPs in a row I am nor fretting or thinking oh my I have blown it , yes I will have gained but I just have my DD tomorrow as usual and carry on Juddding, no big drama no feeling of failure (its been my sons 16th and we have had a lot of family gatherings) no feelings of guilt, why should I feel guilty for enjoying my sons celebrations , its life I want to participate in it not be a bystander. That is what I think I love about Juddd it lets me have a life whilst tackling my weight problem, no guilt , no self hatred for having a chunk of chocolate.
Then of course is the Juddd Magic, my weight loss in relation to others has slowed down but its steady so thats fine but what is most important to me is that even though the scales may be slow the change in my figure is most def not, I fit into clothes that I couldn't when I was lighter last year ???? Sounds weird , yes but its completely trues, I have actually sold the dress that I wore for my Sisters wedding last year when I weighed 11 7, I am at last weigh in 12 1 lb why have I sold it? Because its too big !!!
Now thats what I call magic and that is why I am a total convert and will always be a Juddder x

I tries JUDD for a few weeks about 2yrs ago after reading about it in a magazine..even though I didn't follow it properly (my DD's were too high & my UD's were too low!!) I lost a fair bit of weight...then I just did my usual backslide. My Mum died just before Xmas 7 due to problems settling the estate between then & july I had regained over a stone of the two i lost last year..plus I was having a lot of health problems.
At the same time as the Horizon programme was aired i had to have 2 days light eating followed by a 24hr fast + a further 6hrs nil by mouth before medical tests. Once I had been through that it all fell into place that going back to JUDD would be a doddle after what I had just done..and the science made sense after seeing the programme..so this time I did my research so that this time I would do it right.
I love the freedom it gives me, plus I'm sure its something I can do longterm.
Glad i found this site too!!

Me too, I'm brilliant at sticking to any diet for at least a week then I'll probably have a night on the beer n hangover next day so its junk food, then its weigh in n iv put a pound on n feel crap so the week after I try a bit harder to loose a pound ( repeat, repeat) so after a year on sw I was up n down with the same 7lb, not sw fault its mine cos I love a normal social life, then I met juddd and its amazing, I'm on week 4, not cheated or failed, don't feel crap (even on week 2 when I put 2lb on but lost inches) this diet is forever :)

When I joined this forum I was a relative "diet virgin" having only done weightwatchers. I had heard about the wendi plan for ww (where you varied your points every day) and for a while I was debating doing that and doing juddd, but came to the conclusion that I probably couldn't cope on a fast type day and stuck with weightwatchers

I tried Exante for a while and where I did manage ok with shakes for a few days, I couldn't do it long term. June this year I played about with celebrity slim and ended up wrecking it on the weekend. I lost weight even with the weekend binges, so from there I kinda revisited juddd and decided to give it a go. Took me a few years but I honestly think I've found the diet for me :)

for me i joined juddd because i need a long term solution, not just a fad diet that i get fed up of within 2 weeks like I usually do! admittedly the down days are hard at the moment but i am still trying to lose weight for now so when i get to goal, i'll be able to have more cals on the DDs to maintain so thats whats pushing me for now. juddd is a way of life for me now rather than just a short-term thing and although i struggle through the downs, the fact that i can have what i want on the Ups is a big incentive to stick to the downs as best as i can :)

It makes me feel less guilty & I don't panic or binge, so I feel more controlled :) you should never feel guilty about something you enjoy or have a panic attack about going out to dinner!

Looking into JUDDD or general fasting it looked good and the health (& mental) benefits a plus! I also thought that as I exercise a lot I needed to eat A LOT more calories (1500-1700) and I was scared of doing this everyday, so weirdly this diet (&Primal eating I must add I do ;) ) is helping me to eat MORE on a work out or Up Day due to the DD take that nervous-ness out of it for me, if that makes sense haha!
