So glad this post came up. I'm worried about setting a final target as at 5ft 10 inches with broad shoulders and hips, and high muscles mass i worry about being in a healthy weight range.
I've made the decision to just keep going until i feel comfortable with how i look and feel.
Its nice to know that others have are unsure about BMI ranges. xx
Just make sure it is you and you alone who makes the decision. So many people, in fact too many people have told me not to lose any more! - What they don't realise is when you are in the zone, you can finally get to where you need to be after many years of frustration.
It might be now or never! - therefore I will continue while I am happy. I will reduce body fat, and then tone up. At present my thighs and stomach are not to my liking (I know a lot of women have the same complaints so refreshing us blokes have the same worry).
I'd sooner be in the mid-range than the upper range.
I'm 5'6" and aiming to get to 10st7 at the mo. The top of my healthy BMI is 11st1 and I want to be comfortably inside that to give myself some leeway. I really want to be a size 12 or even 10-12 so I'll see how I feel at 10st7 and set a new target if necessary. The bottom of my healthy BMI is 8st something. I think that's absolutely ridiculous. I've got big boobs (which never get smaller no matter how much weight I lose, even when my back size goes down my cup size goes up) and big hips and would end up with some kind of Jessica Rabbit style figure at the end of it!
Again, you or more-or-less where I'm at. It doesn't help that I can be 5ft 6 or 5ft 7 on any given day (don't ask!)!
As of yesterday, I am 11st 1lb - first target was 11st 4lb. As it stands it is ideal in that I have up to 6lb "spare" and 2 weeks in Florida to come. All well and good, but I'd sooner be in my "mid-range" instead of always worrying about going too high.
Meanwhile, having reached target, I know I should be enjoying it.
Please remember though - target is YOUR target. BMI is a useful yardstick. The one thing I would say with BMI though is less than 20 might be over-doing it.
Good luck everyone.
