    OH MY GOD!

Gosh - you must be a good swimmer! I do 30 lengths in just over 20mins - it's a 25m pool - and I'm generally the fastest there if there aren't any lifeguards training. I think I'd slow down if I went on much after half an hour. I couldn't do 100 lengths in an hour.

    blackcurrant

Depends on what sort of "blackcurrent" you add? If it's a sugar based cordial it could make your water into a little snack and times that by 20 could give you 100s of extra calories a day. Even sugar-free low calorie cordials have calories and these can all add up. You can still have these...

    just for me really...

That's my philosophy too. In fact I see quick weight loss as largely superficial - we all know people who quicky lost weight... last time. It's like the old quip "Giving up smoking is easy - I've done it lots of times". You're right - It's got to be a "me" thing too. We can support each...

    New to calorie counting

Hello Yasmine & well done on your amazing success :). For me I think it might have to be. Without attention my portion sizes creep back up. That sounds like a good way to start. Just writing it down has been shown to lead to weight loss - well, not the actual writing it down so much as the awareness it creates about what's in food. Beans!

It would be interesting to find the weight of washed beans you get from a 150g portion of beans+sauce. 280cal for 100g I found on a website - it might be wrong - or might refer to dried weight as beans are often sold dried.
  21. A

    Beans!

I suppose washed baked beans will be sweeter (and have more calories) as there's usually glucose syrup in the sauce and that will have soaked in. Also, you can buy the value brands for a few pence.

    How many calories?

It depends on how much you had of something - "medium" has a range of meanings - you could measure a cup/mug and you'll know in future what you're having. "Vegetable soup" could be a can full, half a can? You need to know exactly the quantity and how many calories is in 100g or 100ml will be...

    Would this help maintain metabolism?

I'd have thought there'd be trouble getting your digestive system into a routine if your calorie intake wavers by a large amount day by day. And routine seems an important part of apetite control - I didn't used to have breakfast, wasn't even hungry in the morning, until I started having...
