I do the 810. And one thing that has been a life saver for me is shiratake noodles Shirataki noodles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. They are zero calorie, zero carb, zero anything and very high fibre. I mix them with my meat and veg entitlement to get very full - I normally find I don't...
Well, it does actually, but it's a round about way to find the info. If you type your stats into the BMI calculator again as if you were a new customer, it will tell you that you qualify for either simple solution or the stabilisation programme.
Agree WS is probably good to go with. I know that when I tried to be 100% on LL, it was just too hard for me. I always cheated, be it with a little protein that never affected my losses, until I started snacking on carb laden food. This time on exante, it's WS all the way; it's six days and...
Lol, you didn't cave at all! Congrats... Next time, look up Paul McKenna ; he has a technique for distracting yourself from food cravings that involves tapping on your wrist and forehead. Works for me :)
One thing I invested in when I did LL three years ago was a soda stream. I couldnt stand all that still water, but adding some bubbles and then mixing in some of the drink mix was a lifesaver. I've had my soda stream over three years, and to be honest it's a godsend for me, and I'm using it it...
I have given the soups a wide berth - I went for the winter warmers bumper pack, so all porridge, carbonara and bars. Loved the carbonara three days ago - already starting to find it a bit salty but it's yummy nevertheless! Next I'll probably try the shakes, but I suspect I'm not gonna like...
Oh, I also meant to say, the main reason why you shouldn't just replace a pack with protein is because each pack includes vitamins and minerals essential to maintain your health. If you only have two packs, you're missing out on a third of your vitamins and minerals.
I personally think total abstinence isn't for everyone. I did LL, and cambridge, and always struggled on both because I would eat protein. I still had the losses btw, but mentally, it's not great to feel like you're cheating, and it can ingrain destructive attictudes to food. This time round...
Heyy! *waves* Like the others say - you've done it before, you can do it again. I've heard the most focussed slimmers are brides to be, because there is a set date in place!
Made the carbonara today. I would say it was a bit of a labour of love...boiling water over the pasta, left it for two mins with a plate over the top. Then microwaved for two mins, stirred, left it with a plate over the top for five mins. Then one more minute in the microwave, another three...
nandos is great. You can also get prego steaks and chicken livers (a personal fave of mine). Not really takeaway in my book though, as they don't deliver...
But surely if it's allowed it's not porn? I dunno - looks yummeh! ;)
Anyway, back from Sunny Lisbon - and back on atkins. Very pleased to report no weight gain....:)
Wow - that was a horrible fine to pay for the small amount of sheeting you did. Are you sure no-one was pouring sweets into your mouth while you were asleep ;-)
Hi all!
Thanks for your words of encouragement!
Well, I've been wondering if it's the cheese or of it's excess fat in general. I don't know if anyone else saw the post in the other part of the forum (I wish I knew how to do a link....)
Anyway, I'm cutting cheese out for a while just to get...
Lol, and we're neatly back to the zombie theme, Lol!
Welcome back! I'll be chuffed if I get half of what you've managed to achieve in your first week! :p Well done!
Yep - not a 1lb! I've been posting on the what are you eating today thread, but what i think i was gdoing wrong was snacking on cheese. I'd eat my meals, and then if I wanted a snack, a chunk or two or three of cheese. Sometimes I'd also make a dessert out of creamcheese and lemon juice. I...
Yes, i need to add myself to the list of stallers. I ate similar amounts of cheese in my first two weeks and lost no weight at all. I'm now on a re-start, this time no cheese or cream in sight.
At this stage, I think I'm going to stay away. Might be good when on higher rungs or when I'm bored with the diet, but for me, clean and green the only way to go at the moment!
Interesting - I found last week that I felt really tired all the time. I was going to bed at 8.30 in the evening! And yes, everything ached and felt heavy. never connected it with Atkins though...
Blah!
I'm gutted by last weeks weigh in:cry:. Week 2, and yet again, no weight loss. I think I finally need to admit that I have a problem with cheese as it must be staling me.
I was a total child, and went on a 6 day carb fest :break_diet:. I have only just awoken, down, but not yet out...
Well, I've been thinking about dukan. I had a second week where I STS, and to be honest was so demolarialed I had a carb fest lasting...6 days! I'm not back on induction, but wondering if dukan might be better to get things moving. I clearly have a prblem with cheese...
So has anyone tried making a low card pizza with either grated cauliflower and egg as a base, or turkey mince? How about Macaroni and cheese made of firm tofu and cheese? I don't know how I feel about these types of recipes as they are the sorts of food that got me into trouble in the first place!
@J2 - I'm confused - I thought you were doing shakes for a while?
Yesterday:
B: Beefburgers, asparagus, poached eggs
S: Cheese, cinammon mim
D: Jerk chicken salad
Was very peckish all day - kept going back to the fridge for something...
Today:
B: 1/2 tomato, 1/4 onion omlette
L: Corned...
once you get used to the fact that you'll be eating non breakfasty things for breakfast, it's limitless really. I have prawns, or cold sausages, or egg mayo. You could also buy a soya protein shake to have at work...
Wow, 700 calories a day? You may as well do a VLCD. Lowcarb is the antithesis of low calorie, so mixing the two was never going to work. Yes, we eat fats, and indeed lots of them - the optimum level is about 60 - 70% of your caloric intake. Atkins actually says in his books that trying to...
I make low carb coleslaw with cabbage and a small amount of spring onion. It's good.
Dressings: you need white wine vinegar, or cider vinegar, oil, mustard and fresh herbs. mix 1/3 vinegar to 2/3 oils and and salt, herbs and mustard to taste
celeriac is best mashed with butter and a little cream. Yum!
Today not a great day:
B: None - I went cycling and didn't fancy eating before
L: Tapas: Serrano ham, chorizo sausage, squid, salad
D: Jerk chicken, salad.
The really bad bit was when we went to the pub for a drink after cycling...
Right then, found out today swede isn't allowed on induction. Pants!
B: None - you can see a trend here can't you!
L: Jerk chicken salad with homemade coleslaw (no carrot)
S: Steamed pak choi and corned beef
D: Yet more beef, prob stirfried with the rest of the pak choi and some mushrooms.
Hello peeps - this is becoming a regular occurence!
B: None - second day in a row and a bit naughty I know!
S: 1 sausage and a handful of green veg
L: Salmon stirfry with chilli flakes
D: Beef, swede mash, green beans. I'm going to be eating beef for a long while as I bought a massive roast...
Hmm, loose skin - a thorny subject. I lost 3.5 stone on LL, and although overall everything was fine, I lost a lot of volume in the boob area. They also looked a little like pickled raisins- meh!. Anyway, I found that the skin did settle over time but they were never the same again...Boo hoo!
Yes, watch the eggs or you'll get sick of them before too long!
In the first week I ate loads - I decided I wanted to get used to the new principles of eating and didn't want it to be too hard. Week 2, my appetitie had definitely gone down without me even forcing the matter. Just go with...
I live in good old England. I'm an avid gamer: Neko Zombie is a character from a cult PS 2 game, 'The Gregory Horror Show'; he was a zombified cat.
I've been NekoZombie (online persona) for over 8 years now...
Everyone should join the Zombie gang!
I would say weigh yourself - the first week is often the biggest loss and it would be a shame to miss out on how far you can come in a week. I also find the shock helps me to keep to the straight and narrow!
To be honest a can of diet coke a day makes the diet much easier for me. I know citric acid affects some people, but I don't think it has made a difference to past losses when I was on LL.
I would only say (like the others) go easy - one 330 ml can a day is probably enough!
I've been eyeing quite a few products on the Low Carb website- I put about £50 worth in my shoping basket including tom ketchup and crispbreads. I had to make myself walk away - I love things like that I can already imagine myself binge eating on them!!
Hi all! Another day, another set of meals!
B: None - should have been a protein soya shake
L: Chicken salad, prawns, 3 cherry tomatoes
D: Roast beef, mashed swede and green beans
@J2 - I've seen your thread about work - they sound horrendous!! TBH Well done on sticking it out!
Thanks Katie!
Weigh in was same scales, different time (afternoon), different clothing.
I am not yet feeling demotivated - the bf said I looked slimmer in the tummy area last night! Good news!
Yes, even M&S are doing the 3 for £10 deal. I bough salmon fillets, 8 chicken legs and pork chops, all of which I separated into bags and froze.
I always keep an eye out for anything on offer and buy it to put in the freezer...
Yesterday I had:
B: 2 rashers bacon, 2 eggs, 1/2 sausage, 1/2 tom (last cooked brekkie for a long while!)
L: Nothing
D: Chicken tikka pieces, Saag paneer and chopped iceberg/ cabbage instead of rice
S: none!!
Today will look like the following:
B: Soya protein shake
L: Roasted chicken...
Hmmm, I have managed to put 2lbs on, oh dear oh dear. I know a bit of it must be attributed to joining in on the Kate and Wills celebrations, but I thought I might STS not gain! Well, nose down to the grind stone this week!
Well done to everyone who has lost this week! :)
Hi all
I'm joinig in with this one! My first challenge so:
Teetiefunk: 2/20
Must doit: 0/18
Jools: 0/20
Rosebug: 0/20
Kat1e: 0/20
J2BLUE: 0/36
Neko: 0/36
Todays meals:
B: None
L: Griddled salmon, asparagus and mixed leaves
S: 2 mini homemade burgers and cheese, 2 chicken wings
D: Not hungry so nada (probably because of the fairly big snack I had earlier)
Today was a day off plan - I was out celebrating the wedding and I tried a little of most things. Was as sensible as I could be, and didn't go crazy. Back on to induction tomorrow!
Late post from me but here's what I ate yesterday:
B: 1/2 avocado, 1/2 tomato, prawns, tuna mayonnaise
L: crustless quiche, green salad made with cos, celery, broccoli and cucumber
S: Brie, burger patty
D: Jerk chicken breast, homemade coleslaw
you should definitely also play around with sauces and seasoning.
You can make jerk chicken, herb chicken and various cream sauces for example chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce. Also play around with your veggies and try seving them in different ways; cauliflower for example could be...
Clean and green so far today all! I was going to have a sugar free jelly but I am going to be strong and resist. Off to buy some soya milk (I hope it isn't a frankenfood??). Good luck for the rest of today everyone!
Ally x
Hello from another ex LLer! Yes, the counsellors can be real bullies - it was one of the reasons I stopped going. Couldn't argue with the weight loss though - it fell off, but fell back on again!! This time I'm taking a more measured approach to weight loss and this time it shoukld stick...
my tip with rhubarb is as follows:
How to stew Rhubarb:
wash the rhubarb and cut into inch size chunks. The water from the washing should be enough to slowly steam the rhubarb in a pot (lid on, very low heat) so it keeps its shape but is nice and tender. Add some splenda and a vanilla pod /...
Hi all!
B: Egg, bacon and sausages, 1/2 tomato
L: Nada
D: Jerk chicken, spinach leaves, homemade coleslaw (mostly cabbage, a very little carrot)
S: SF Jelly (argh! getting addicted)
Just out of interest Minxie, have you been sticking to the diet one hundred percent? It may be you're inadvertently eating something that is stalling you?
Welcome from one ex LLer to another! I lost 3.5 stone on LL but have gained most of it back. Now I'm trying Atkins as it seems to be a way to change my eating habits long term...
Good luck!
Haha! Fair point. A very nice steak for £5 I think!
What are the other signs of Ketosis? My appetite has definitely decreased Jim - no hunger to speak of, no longer crave bread and the like. No metal taste in my mouth though!
Grrr, annoying - went down to boots and they didn't have any. Still don't know if I'm in or not...haven't had anything illegal so I shall just aim to keep on track. While I was in boots I weighed myself (finally felt brave enough) and found out I weigh 17 st 13. Now that was a shock.
Mmm, some nice sounding stuff on here so far.
Having just woken up (how bad is that!!) I'll be going straight for brunch:
Brunch: 1 x gluten free sausage, 2 bacon, 1 x fried egg, mushrooms (Yuuuummm!)
Snack: 4 slices wafer thin ham filled with a little soft cheese
Dinner: Aubergine, beef...
O.K. my first time posting on this thread so I'd appreciate feedback if doing anything wrong!
Breakfast: 2 rashers bacon and scrambled eggs
Lunch: Smoked Mackerel and veg stirfry (mostly bean sprouts and green peppers and a grating of carrot). Dessert whipped cream and creamcheese flavoured...
Thanks all for the lovely welcome! I shall pootle off and try and find the thread. In the meantime, does anyone use ketostix? I've been testing the last few days - no ketones showing, a sure sign I'm doing something wrong...
I dunno if ou like hot meals at work? I make a crustless quiche with bacon, mushrooms and broccoli and cut it into slices once cold. I sometimes heat it up at work for a yummy quick lunch. Very nice cold too, of course!
Hi everyone! I've been lurking but time to come out I think!
My name is Ally and I have been on atkins for about a week. Overall, I haven't been finding it too hard...I have noticed however that I'm eating a fair bit of cheese (about 70g a day) and ham. I'm worried because these foods are...
