Help needed, thinking of packing it in!!!

think of it like this - even if you lose 'only' say 2-3lbs a week for the rest of the time staying on CD, that means in just 10 weeks max you will definitely have lost all the weight and can go on to eating healthily and maintaining it. That's such a short time really, and you've come so far...

    Ketosis sleep

yeah me too, but i have also noticed i now have really vivid lucid dreams too. i agree with the point that it may be something to do with not eating carbs late in the evening before going to bed - that must interrupt your sleep and keep your brain too active to sleep properly. I still get up at...

    Steriods..

Hi I'm on CD too (although have taken a few days 'break' due to having the flu - need sustenance!!) Steroids (if you mean glucocorticoids like dexamethasone, prednisone etc) will make you meel a bit hyperactive, and cause a slight increase in metabolic rate. However, they cause water retention...

I've got one i remember - it may be a bit morbid though-sorry; A woman was out shopping and saw a lovely pair of red shoes and couldn't resist buying them. Later that evening she went to work, and was excited about showing off her new shoes, so she decided to wear them. because of this...

    How do you cope?

If you are 5ft 6in and weigh 10st 13lbs, that makes your BMI 24something so you shouldn't be doing ss at all! - i think it can be dangerous to do ss at a bmi of under 25 as your body doesn't have enough 'reserves' (fat) to live off and this is why you will be feeling faint. Did your CDC not...

    CD and medication...

I should keep on taking the medication as usual - the coating on the ibuprofen is an absolutely tiny amount, probably less sugar even than is in the dust left in a pack after you have emptied it! good luck with the diet, let us know how it goes!x

Children and lowish carbing - views

That's true, carbohydrates are essential for growing children, but keep sugary things to a minimum. I think the 6-11 portions are adult recommendations. I used to do talks on nutrition at schools, and the nhs website is a really good resource we used for information, and also for your kids to...

Have We Entered The Cheating Zone

If it was as easy as just saying 'oops, I'm getting a bit fat, I'll just give up solid food for a couple months and hey presto, I'm thin again' none of us would be obese in the first place, even those who have found it possible to stick to the plan 100% (and jolly well done if you have). I...

Children and lowish carbing - views

it's certainly a good idea to get them into good habits in terms of having balanced meals with controlled portions. i think kids of that age are recommended to eat at least 3, max 5 portions of carbohydrate a day, spread over the day, but one portion is a less than you would think - 1 portion is...

    My Skin!

I must say mine's got better since starting last week, but that's prob due to all the water. Lot of people find cd does strange things to their totm, so maybe it's a hormonal thing - that causes dry skin + spots. Just a guess. I'm sure it will clear up soon x

it sounds like an allergic reaction. i get that sometimes - it gets enormous, very red swollen and hot, i think there is a particular type of insect that you are allergic to, so thats why not all bites would be that bad. if you visit the doctor they would probably tell you to take an...

How much water is TOO much water?

I don't think water intoxication is anything to be concerned about - if you are healthy you should be able to process 10L maybe more through your kidneys in a day, - in the very rare cases of water intoxication in adults it had been because of drinking very large amounts of water in a very short...
