2015 and It's Now or Never!

Saturday 22nd February 2014

Thanks for the visit and well wishes Nelli and Cg.

Up early enough to hear all of the C&W music on the radio this morning which was great and even managed to have a bit of a dance too.
Such a lovely day again... sunny and quite mild.. so popped out to Tesco again as I wanted to get some minced beef to make meat balls. Bought the sausages yesterday thinking I had the mince in the freezer. Was ever so good and didn't go anywhere near the confectionary aisle... :innocent0002:

This time of the year there are lots of crocuses starting to bloom all along the roadways and they look so pretty. I often wish I had my camera with me to take photos of some of the sights... A massive amount of bright red berries on an otherwise bare bush in the middle of other bare black bushes.

Had another long nap this afternoon as I found that I was starting to cry at the least thing... just an after effect of everything methinks. Feel a lot better for it.

Menus went well and totals are: Cals 1363 Carbs 152

Look after yourself Em. You have had a lot to contend with over the last few weeks.

Afternoon Emm - not caught up with the past 4 weeks worth of your diary but I'll try to over the next few days.
In the meantime hope you are okay.

Afternoon Em,

Wow! I go away for a week to Bath and you've been through H3ll.

Sunday 16th February 2014

Back at last! Been proper poorly again... took a funny turn last Monday and was rushed back into hospital where I have now had my pacemaker op done. Came home yesterday afternoon so still quite sore but have to go back and have it redone as the leads are not properly in place... :sigh:.. why they couldn't have done it then is just so annoying to say the least!! They did say that the top leads are okay which are the most important ones and I have no need to worry about anything which is quite a relief anyway.

Weight today is 188lbs so at least I haven't put a lot on which is great.

Finally.. thankyou Cg and Nelli that have visited whilst I have been absent.

Did they figure out what was wrong?

That is so nice - it is lovely to find people to chat to isn't it? I always talk to people in queue's etc (sometimes not to J's amusement) :) You find out such a lot about people.

We were in Marks last weekend and the young lady (slim, young and very pretty) in front of us at the food check out had multiple bottles of fizz, multiple boxes of chocolates and multiple other valentine related items. So I said (to J) "well either this young lady has multiple boyfriends or she is hell bent on getting fat" ! She laughed, said she wished, and started to tell us all about her job in the wedding department of a department store and how she was responsible for putting on the Valentines display. She was so pleased with herself and so proud to be in charge. Passed the wait to get checked out nicely :)

I'm aways chatting away to people -- annoys my DH, DS and DD no end. But people fascinate me - always have. I read every biography in my elementary school library by age 9 and the librarian started getting more from the middle school for me.

I agree with that Nelli altho' I didn't used to but it does make the day a lot brighter to have a pleasant exchange of words.
I have been really relaxing all day and am feeling much better ..thanks for your concern.

I'm glad you're better.

Phone call early this morning and I am going back into hospital tomorrow morning for the op. Seems such a waste of time sending me home for just one day..ah well... ours not to reason why!!

Sounds as if they had a cancellation.

Tuesday 18th February 2014

After struggling to arrive at the hospital by 10am I then had to sit in the waiting room and several more people arrived at 11am and more at 11.30...about 14 of us squashed into a tiny room that was designed for about 8. Gradually each of them were sent off to various places until it was just me again where I waited until about 3.30pm and was then taken to the cardio suite.. (AKA the op room area)... sat on a bed for 10mins when the surgeon came to see me...He asked whether I was feeling okay?.. yes, fine... and then.. well, I don't think we need to do anything else as long as your okay!!! ..and with that I was sent home...!!!! ..
At least I didn't have to go thro' any more pulling about and I know they are hard pushed with all the work load they have but ... :argh:

All's well that ends well.. :happy036:

Too weird. They didn't do any tests? Maybe you were supposed to see a specialist before being discharged and they had you come back to cover their a$$?

Had a lovely time with my friend today and talked the hind legs off a donkey.. in fact most probably several donkeys! Not done much else apart from making a cauliflower cheese this evening. Made a lovely rue and then forgot to stir in the cheese and as I had already spread it over the cauliflower I just sprinkled the lot over the top. Came out nice anyway.

Cals 1397 Carbs 157..Not correct as ate 1/2 the cauliflower cheese dish.. should be Cals 1457 Carbs 171

Sounds like a lovely day.

Imagining lots of donkeys wandering around standing on their front legs 'coz you have talked off their hind ones!!! Poor them :) I'm glad you had a great day.

New saying to me -- I've probably handicapped a herd of donkeys.

Friday 21st February 2014
Lovely sunny day and quite mild too.
Went out to lunch at my usual haunt and had roast chicken etc.
Tesco before coming home and all went well despite my being a bit apprehensive being my first trip out since the op.
Got home and had a nap which turned out to be a really deep sleep for about 4 hours and now my op site feels less sore and so much better which is such a relief.

Bit of confusion with my hospital appointments.. I had one for March 17th at 12pm for a heart scan and I phoned to request a later one which would suit me better. She changed it to March 25th at 2pm and said a letter would follow. Then I received another letter for a pacemaker check up for March 25th at 4pm! On phoning to check this all out I was passed from one to the other with some very stern words from the cardio dept saying that I must NOT miss my check up... and the two things are completely separate items. So now I have to phone on Monday to speak to the "Scan" dept for an update... :sigh:

Not a good day diet-wise as altho' I had intended to get a bar of chocolate I must admit... there was a sample of crisps in store which I had and so I bought a pack of those .. 190g.. and ate most of them.

Totals so far: Cals 1263 Carbs 121

I hope this gets sorted -- too much confusion.

I took these yesterday at Peckover House and gardens.

Thanks Mw... yes I do tend to forget that as I'm so used to having to get up and do for myself.

Thanks Bev.. and welcome back.

Thanks Mel, feeling very much on the mend.

The saying is an Irish thing as they are renown for their continuous chatter and their beast of burden would sit down which they actually do not do.

Lovely pics Mel... I can take photos on my phone but it's a very ancient one that wont download and I have asked my very knowledgeable grandD. I did buy an up to date one a couple of years ago but just can't get the hang of it so it now adorns my little table next to my chair... :D

Hi Em. I never realised that 'talking the hind legs off a donkey' was an Irish saying. My dad was Irish so it is a saying I grew up with at home. I suppose I just assumed it was something everyone would recognise.

There now!! Surprising what we all can learn one way and another isn't it?
My grandparents were Irish as well.

I put a remark on MFP saying that I was "gobsmacked" to which a man in Canada said he had never heard that expression before and he had to Google it.

Odd sort of day.. one minute feeling chipper and a busy bee and the next tired and rather depressed. I think most of it is down to having this gnawing pain all the time.. and sorry but I know I keep on about it but it is nice to have somewhere to vent my feelings.

Needless to say not done anything much at all today.
Must work on getting my carbs a lot lower... keep eating up things that have been hanging around for a bit.. like brazil nuts.

Totals: Cals 1394 Carbs 139... too much!!

Awww Em -- you've been through a lot lately. It's only natural to "give in" to a little bit of being down. (((((HUGS))))

You just keep venting Emm - we are here to listen (and comment of course :))

Thanks so much Nelli and Mel... so nice to know that I'm not totally boring the pants off everyone... :)

Not surprising you are up and down at the moment Em with everything you have had going on, plus physical pain wears you down doesn't it? It is your diary, so you vent whenever you need to.

I didn't know it was Irish either - I grew up in Manchester and everyone used it!

Emm - you have been through such a lot in the last few weeks, so it's not surprising you are tired and depressed.
Plus anaestetic - even a local one - can do this to you.
So just give in to the tiredness and take a break. Have a nap. It's your body's way of healing itself.

((( Big Hugs ))) chica

WI today and I'm just about the same which is great as I haven't actually put anything on despite all the ups and downs recently.

Doctors app this afternoon and having dealt with other matters I then finished off by asking him about why he had said that I "most probably had cancer". Off course, as I was expecting tbh, he insisted that it wasn't what he had said and that I had misunderstood and/or hadn't heard him properly! I assured him that it was what he had said and then continued to remind him that on the next visit he had not mentioned cancer again but insisted that I had kidney failure and was 2 steps away from needing dialysis... at that he coloured up and was quite embarrassed and apologised profusely even tho' he continued to say he wouldn't say such a thing!!
I am glad that at least I have spoken to him about this and in future I shall question him if he makes any more of these types of statements.

Having got that out of the way a stop off at Tesco to get some onions for my meat balls that I want to make... and just hope I haven't forgotten any other ingredients...and then bought a pack of Cadbury Icecreams... .. and of course ate all 3!!! .. :copon: .. so cals and carbs sort of rocketed.. :D ... say no more!

Evening Em,

How'd the meatballs turn out?

I'm glad you didn't back down when you called the doctor on his rubbish.

I hope you have a lovely day today (it's already Tuesday) - I was up "face timing" with my sister who is in D.C. this week.

Morning Emm - well done on "dealing" with the doctor. It is ridiculous that he can make statements like that and then back out. He definitely needs some lessons in bedside manner. Forget the ice creams - they are history now :)

Is the doctor the senior partner at the practice? If not I would report him to the senior partner.
If he is then I'd report him to someone like the BMA.
He should not be allowed to make these sort of statements.
Imagine if he's said that to someone who was less able to deal with it than you Emm.

Evening Em,

I hope you had a good day. It started out gray here, then we had a few sunny moments which were very cheering.
