Gonna be a few Exante Christmas crackers about this year!! X

hi kenshin112,hope today is going ok for you!
I'm on day 3 now and I know from previous experiance that this is the hardest bit as day 3-4 is when you can't stop thinking about eating and having battles with yourself and you can smell food sooooo strongly.

hi jumpinjacks how are you getting on,still resolute?

wow handbag-annie,well done for losing so much weight,it's hard to stay focused when there is a substantial amount to lose-i've only lasted about 3 weeks before and I was a bit wishy washy, how did you keep your resolve and does it get easier over time?I read somewhere that it takes 3 weeks to make or break a habit so I'm giving myself 3 weeks to stick to it 100% and see if it works!

Thanks! I knew I had to tackle my weight and started on 4 January. For me it was a good time to start as everyone is always broke in jan so no nights out planned etc and I was a total recluse for the first 4-5 weeks till I was in the groove, seeing the results on the scales and knew that I wanted more weight loss!

Wasn't going to tell my friend I was in a VLCD but my pal did and I'm grateful and as friends have been fantastic and accommodated me on night/days out etc.

I had a two week break in May as was on holiday Abroad and I cannot deny it - I am struggling since my return. Still losing but finding being TS difficult.

All I can advise is stay focused - stick a Florida photo or air tickets on you fridge! Get a holiday outfit you have or buy sometime and aim to fit into it. Another tip would be remove yourself from temptation which is difficult when cooking for children/family. I left my hubby to run he kitchen when I started Exante. When I restarted after my holidays I didn't as thoughtI could cope but found I was picking and tasting as I went........he is now back in charge of the kitchen!!!!!!

Looking forward to hearing about your progress. :)

6 months seems a long time - I have it in my head that if i'm not at goal by dec 31st then I will maintain anyway from then. I have 3 stone 11 left to lose though, so I know that if I stick to plan I should be there by end of October - thing is I know that my weight loss will slow down towards the end and also that my 2-3 week holiday at the start of October will see me STS for that time so I may well take the whole 6 months to lose it all. It will be worth it though!

I think it's the only way to get through the first couple of weeks, trying to visualise what you will look like, how it will change things etc......instead of thinking about food.I will still be overweight at xmas but I keep thinking of how much better my knees will be and I will be nearly there for summer 2013.

you've done so well already!any tips for the first couple of weeks?

Keep drinking the water, don't beat yourself up if you need to have protein to get through it as anything is better than giving in and having a carb binge - if you just have a bit of protein it won't knock you out of ketosis and you can just carry on with the diet easily the next day. If you're feeling crap try adding a pinch of lo-salt to your soups, and don't think you are safely in ketosis and can let your guard down with regard to food demons until you're at least 2 solid weeks down.

The diet shakes/soups/bars are just a tool, not magic, YOU are ultimately responsible for what you put in your mouth - nobody else. Educate yourself about healthy choices to make as you probably will need to eat at some point because of socialising. My social life hasn't suffered at all and I have still had good losses despite going out for indian, mexican, tapas, nandos, steak & general pub food. There is always a healthy choice - OK it might be a slightly boring, less appetising option but it's the one that will allow you to keep plodding on without inviting food demons along for the ride.

does it get easier though,do you stop thinking about food all the time and does it just become a way of life?

these diets get o so much easier :) once in ketosis, its easier than the abc :)
one thing, a few of my friends have done exante and closed off there social life for a tad bit as in clubbing and what not, did the occassional cinema trip, but when i saw them a few weeks back i was like wow, and was full of praise, the 2 girls lost 5 and 8 stone between them both in the 9st9lbs bracket now!!!! the one thing is once you hit goal, can't let your guard down, and thats what i done since xmas putting on 28lbs :( really does suck, and for me this is day 1 and so far so damn easy :)

I've already decided not to go out!I have to say that this time is the easiest I have found it,usually by day 3 I am trying to talk myself out of eating something but this time I'm quite determined.I'm trying just to look at it a month at a time and hope that the weight coming off will be a big enough incentive.

Day 3 nearly over and apart from a really bad headache yesterday it's going well, roll on weighing day as I'm resisting the temptation to jump on the scales!

yeah i was just gutted, i let peoples words get to me, ie you've lost so much weight, stop going gym, stop dieting blah d blah and me being silly, i did stop, uff for willpower, but this time i am doing it and nothing will stand in my way :) Kenshin is all hyped up for this, more hyped up for this than i am about amazing spiderman and batman dark knight rises woopa
