Anyone in the 9s want to be in the 8's ??

Thanks for your advice, I'm going to stick to my guns :) I don't even enjoy being 'drunk', a few glasses of wine will be more than enough and then I can dance the night away knowing I've been good and will feel fresh as a daisy tomorrow! Xx

Sounds like a fantastic day :) Well done on resisting the cream tea!

I'm just getting ready for a night out with my friend. Am a bit worried as I'm adamant that I'll have 1/2 bottle rosé before we go (12.5 syns, and it will definitely be more than enough alcohol for me!) and then stick to diet coke and water when we're out. I don't want to go over my syns (even if I have been under 15 all week), I don't want to waste tomorrow with a hangover and I don't want to spend lots of money. I just feel like I'm letting my friend down - but surely it's my choice whether I drink or not?! Xx

How was your night out Charlie, hope you stayed strong as there is nothing worse than a hangover! Have you found since being on SW that alcohol is not your friend? Its certainly not mine anymore & why I rarely drink now  x

The wine barely touched the sides, so I had 3 measures of spirits with diet coke when I was out - I only spent £7.50 and I'm fresh as a daisy this morning (just cooking a fry up brunch as I type!) I used 21.5 syns yesterday, but I've barely used 10 each day this week so not worried in the slightest. I think it proved to my friend that having a good time doesn't require bucket loads of alcohol and she won't moan next time I choose not to get battered!

Alcohol has never really been my friend - it's something I can take or leave. Unless its a lovely sunny afternoon and we're sitting outside with chilled wine or cider in the fridge! x

Very controlled, so well done :). Glad you had a good time....did you have a boogie? Cant remember the last time I went to a club........too old now lol? Yikes did I just say that?!!! The only time I get to have a dance is when we go to Mess functions, which is probably 2-3 times a year....enough I think, as they're are quite extravagant affairs & go onto the birds are singing lol!
The trouble is with me, even tho booze is not my friend, I dont have any willpower & once I start & cant stop lol! :)

We had an excellent time, but it was cut short by everywhere being insanely busy! Even I feel old when I go out now, and I'm only 22! We did indeed have a very good boogie - the bar we went into cracked out some fantastic classics like the macarena, cotton eyed joe and Saturday night - we had so much fun!

It depends on what I'm drinking, I adore fruit cider so if that's on offer I find I hard to be restrained :)

Mmmmm, love pear cider over ice sat on my patio on a balmy summers night

Ah fantastic! Hurry up summer :)

Hello & welcome. Im sure you will be back into the 8's before you know it

Thank you! I left SW for a while & did WW & tried calorie counting but it's not for me - in too greedy! I've set myself a target to be under 9 by May :)

I couldn't do calorie counting either, I'm terrible at measuring things out and worrying about how many calories everything has! I think 6lbs before May is a very sensible target and I'm sure you'll be there in no time!

Was showing 1lb gain this morning, but have had a VERY dodgy tummy and had a large meal quite late last night - am hoping it will be gone by next weigh in!

How is everyone?

Charlie, I feel like such a failure right now. Made bad food choices for the past 3 days. Showing a 0.5 gain, but I am expecting it to go up. I can't get out of the 'its ok, I'm in the 9s' mindset.

However, I went on the BMI machine at tesco today and it is saying my fat percentage has gone down by 9%, so its given me a bit of a boost. I really want to get my fat percentage down to a healthy rate (need to lose 6-13%) so going to aim for 9%. I've dug out my 'women's guide to running book' - I want to make a difference.

If you don't mind me asking, how long were you running before you started noticing a difference in your physical appearance? x

I found I got into that state of mind as I was in the high 9's zone, but found the motivation to carry on. You're definitely not a failure - think about how well you have already done. It's a big lifestyle change, I know it definitely was for me. It's all about learning to make healthier choices in the long term and in my experience this is something that came with time (I've been following SW for a year and a half and only recently has healthy eating become second nature to me) and right now you're at the beginning of making else changes. It's like breaking a habit of a lifetime! How long have you been following SW?

For me, the feeling of seeing a loss on the scales and a difference in the mirror was the biggest motivator of all - perhaps start making a photo diary to remind you of the good things that happen when you make the right choices?

Running wise, I ran for around 15 mins a day for a while last year and didn't really notice a difference at all. However this time round, running for around 30 mins a day (3 times a week to begin with but 5 times a week currently), I'd say it took a couple of weeks to notice my thighs had slimmed down but most importantly that my endurance and general fitness had vastly improved. A couple of colleagues of mine are raving about a book called 'run fat b*tch run' which is about finding the motivation to run for weight loss and fitness - though I haven't read it myself.

Most importantly, keep your chin up and realise your achievements in weight loss already. There's always tomorrow to keep trying :) xx

Oh dear girls *slap wrist* coming your ways.....what are you both doing on those scales, you know its not a true reflection of your weight loss! *telling off over!* Hark at me all high & mighty but I only get on the scales once a week as I can't bear how I feel if I see a gain in the week or even a loss as I get all excited....so don't do it!

Sorry Kim. But in my defence, if I hadn't, I wouldn't have seen my fat percentage go down which in turn has spurred me on to get back on plan!! ;)

Won't do it again, promise x

My OH get annoyed with me as well, I know it's a terrible habit that I need to break. In fact, your telling off has knocked some sense in to me and I shall put the scales away until weigh in on Saturday - and I encourage you to tell me off again if I confess to getting them out before then!

I typed all of the above reply on my phone, I'm a bit of a dork really!
