Chef Kimbo here to help!
What a brilliant vocation, rather you than me tho! Dont get me wrong, I love children, but Im at the other end of it looking after them on ITU!
I was working with children in London, I started working for Dad when I came home - I hadn't anticipated working here for so long though! It's been over a year and was only supposed to be here for a couple of months! Same with me living at Mum's - it's been far too long now! Love her to bits, but miss my own space! Just feel the need to get away sometimes - I live at my boyfriends house from Friday to Monday!
I thought I'd be glad to get out of childcare, but after a couple of weeks, I really missed it. There's nothing like getting to work and having 8 or 9 little ones excited to see you - you just don't get that with grown ups!
I've been doing some volunteering on the local children's ward and it's so different from nursery. The children aren't bouncing off the walls or fighting with each other - it's more about reassuring them and their parents about what is going on and explaining to them about what's involved.
I'm yet to find the perfect explanation for it, but it's a lot more involved than a lot of people think!
