Anyone in the 9s want to be in the 8's ??

See that's what im thinking, I could save £480 in a year! That a lot of money. The problem we have is space, I don't know if I have room to store a treadmill :-/ I really want to go road running but OH has pulled a muscle playing cricket so tonight we are going to ease ourselves back into exercise and go for a 3 miles power walk instead. Hoping he might put his trainers on incase we decide to jog hehe.

Would love love love a bike but we have no garage :-( only an out house lobby. So again no storage.

All exercise suggestions welcome! I need some serious toning exercises for the next few weeks

Xxx

Powerwalking is a fabulous exercise & really helps with toning. Look at Shellie, she's had brilliant losses & walks every day! Walking & running, if you have the correct trainers are a brilliant way to tone & lose weight & a lot cheaper than a gym membership! x

We were talking about setting a challenge for me and oh and set a target of 50 miles between now and June 3rd. My gym membership is valid until the end of may so I'll try and see if my motivation for it comes back and then decide about it.

We started power walking last year when OH broke his finger and couldn't play cricket. I love the burn of it!

Xx

Nikki I cancelled my gym membership ages ago as I did quite like it but couldn't justify the costs. I find it much easier fitting in exercise at home, no need to drag yourself out in horrible weather, saves travelling time and of course saves loads of money too.

There's plenty great exercise DVDs out there nowadays. I picked up a whole bunch of them second hand from cex for anywhere between £1 and £4. Davina McCall, ministry of sound pump it up and various others.

Jillian michaels gets great results. 30day shred is only a fiver or there's a boxset of 4 different DVDs for about £15. Plenty of variety and the different levels mean it won't get too easy too soon.

I find a set of weights and a yoga mat is all you really need to get a great and varied workout. Plenty of cardio and body weight stuff too none require any expensive equipment.

If you have the space then a treadmill is great many people have them and use them daily! Though of course some people find they just gather dust and become a clothes horse!

Personally I have an exercise bike which I rarely use as I don't really enjoy it (we got it free so can't complain and was useful when helping get motion back in my ankle) but would love a cross trainer as they were always my fave at the gym.

As Kim says keep an eye out on gumtree there's always people getting rid of these kinds of things for much less than they paid for them :) x

I have the 30 day shred, did it once and that was it. It's hard because the tv upstairs has no DVD player and downstairs OH is always in the living room and I like to be able to concentrate lol

I may invest in some weights and "borrow" my mums stepper out her garage, that way I can go speed walking, do weights, do the stepper and I bought a davina mcall skipping rope ready for the warmer days!

X

I hate exercising in front of people too I either do it when the OH is out or ask him to go to another room for half hour lol! Do you have a laptop you could watch it on? It requires very little space compared to most exercise DVDs which is handy. After the first few times you don't even really need to be able to see the screen as long as u can hear it. X

Great idea!! Never thought about the laptop! Ooooo ideas.... Might do it in the kitchen and use my mat for the floor exercises xx

The trouble is with me I cant just have one glass of wine, coz once I get the taste for it I want the whole bottle lol! Also, it gives me the munchies, so the only way is to not have any at all. My DH is training for a charity bike ride so doesn't want to drink at the weekends anymore & I wont drink on my own.....so problem solved......I hope! x

I have the whole bottle oopps...keep 25 syns for it eeek

I would cancel the gym. I have bought excercise dvds over the years and apart from build up to my sisters wedding this is the most I have ever done.
I am doing the shred. I try to do it at night when my little one is sleeping or if am lucky and other half gets in early. Really I need to squeeze it in but I have been known to do mine on laptop in dining room and I also do it in bedroom. I am lookin at it like its only 20-30 mins and once its done its done.
I can't commit to gym or classes due to my son and partners working hours and location so this is best for me.
Have just did first day of level two of shred and i am knackered. What I did enjoy was moving away from level one and the new challenge. Didn't know what was comin next etc. All that for a fiver and it feels goooooooood wohoo!!!!!

Defo going to do the shred! Unfortunately OH is going to be late home tonight now and it's started raining!!! So looks like I'll be waking early tomorrow to either go down the gym or do the shred. Need quick results and thinking the shred will give me that between now and holiday!

Did I hear someone mention walking?!! Haha! I could go on about it forever, but I seriously believe in the power of a good walk! We are very hilly here and I love the feeling after a fast stomp! Have a look at some of the power walking sites.
Personally, I would cancel the gym membership!
Just off to group, with my jeans on. No way tempted to weigh in. Back to my usual pre weigh anxiety next week! Not sure how long I will be able to keep this up.
Another 100% day. It's going to be strange not drinking this weekend. Hopefully, once we've got through the weekend, our month off alcohol will seem easier!!!
Pleased that you all seem to be so focused right now. X

Well... I got home, decided to do day 1 of the shred, finished and showered by 6.30 only to go to cook dinner and find we have no risotto rice!!!

So todays plane ended up as follows...

B - HIFI bar (HEXB1)
L - 2 x WM bread (HEXB2) 2 el laughing cows (2/5 HEXA) tomato sauce (0.5 syns)
Snack - ww hot choc (2 syns) popcorn (4.5 syns) mouthful of a mugshot I cooked and it was vile!!
D - 100g pasta mixed with homemade pasta sauce (tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, peppers, 1/5 spag bol oxo cube, sweet chilli dipping 2 tbsp (2 syns) squirt of ketchup (0.5 syns) ) with 41g cheddar (1.60 HEXA) lf mayo (0.5 syns)
WW choc dessert (3 syns)

So I make that 13 syns 2 x HEXB & 2 HEXA

A little frustrated as i'd only planned 1 HEXA but corner shop only had regular cheddar :(

Looks like a good day tho Nikki x

So far for me 100% with 1.5 syns.
Green day and used both heb and 1 hea.
Dinner was really filling and not sure in its normal to eat something so stodgy and lose weight haha.....small baked potato, cheese, 3 egg omelette and beans. Was Extra filling so dunno how am meant to use syns for today?
It's not my intention to save them all up for weekend. Just some of them. Won't stress tho
Kim have you thought about tryin to change your weigh in day? I know your reason behind Friday weigh in as it was my reasoning as well but so far I am enjoying my Tuesday weigh in. I seem more able to spread my syns out better. On my Fri weigh in my syns started again too...meant that in my head I would think I had loads to use and just Have a free for all. Only week two (but did this in the past) and it seems different in my head. My wine last week was accumulation of 5 less syns per day so its not like bingeing. I know I keep going on but I know having a normal weekend really helps me.
What do you use your syns on just now? Also with the munching you could use your healthy Extra alpen lights as a wee treat or low syns crisps?
I may eat my words and revert back but just now counting down syns is helping me mentally
Hope you don't think am bein a pain, just thought it was an idea?

No I don't think you're being a pain at all, its good to hear other opinions, as its too easy to get in a rut!
I count my syns daily & have never tried doing them weekly & saving them for my wine at the weekend, but might be an idea to do that for our next ' social'! When I had my wine I would just have an off plan day & then get straight back on plan afterwards. I'm trying not to drink now as supporting DH with his training so hopefully the weight will start to come off so I'll stick to a Friday for the mo as I won't be having any naughties at the weekend. I use my Syns for sauces like mayo, ketchup etc & a bit of chocolate in the evening. Thanks for thinking about me tho x
