Becki's Diary!

I want a baby so I need to lose a lot of weight!
I weigh 18 stone 7lbs at the moment.

Diet and exercise starts in the morning! I will get on the Wii first thing before work to see how much I weigh.

We have been saying for a while that we will start trying for a baby by my 25th birthday. Thats on 18th September, so thats just under 3 months away. I would like to lose 3 stone by then. I don't think thats too unrealistic, do you?
Ideally Id like to go to the gym, but I don't have anyone to go with. I have a real lack of confidence so I know I couldn't go on my own, not at this point anyway. So for now it will have to be me and the Wii.

Well! Diet never even got started, as always!
I have started today though. Something clicked for me over the weekend and I decided I would get some healthy food delivered to work this morning from Asda.
I don't know how much I weigh as I didn't look this morning. I guess I wont lose any weight during the first day so I'll weigh myself tonight.
So far today I have had:
Breakfast:
1 pint of Apple juice (This was before my shopping arrived and I forgot to check the cals before I drunk it) Around 176 cal
Lunch:
Salad of Mixed leaves, cucumber and yellow pepper, with 4 tbsp of asda good for you caesar salad dressing.Around 97 cals
Wholemeal roll, 4 tsp of I can't believe its not butter light, 50g prawns and 50g of smoked salmon. Around 373 cals
Oh and a pint of diet pepsi and 1 little blue pill.

Is that bad? I don't know
I know its too much butter, but I really really like butter, and I have swaped the brand to a light one. So thats a start I guess, I will be better tomorrow!

Currently on CD:3 and I've got really bad cramps and its really heavy, ugh:cry:! Started taking my 4mg Folic acid, Pregnacare conception vitamins, multivitamins today too. Probably too much, but better to be safe then sorry. I lost a baby to a NTD called Limb Body Wall Complex in 2004 at 20 weeks so I need a high dose of Folic acid.

Hi Becki, well done on getting your head into gear and getting started, that's half the battle sometimes!
It looks like you're doing really well, and that you're keeping a very accurate record of what you're eating.

The only two things I'd mention are:
- Are you eating enough calories (I suspect not) have a look at MyFitnessPal.com - one of the tools on there will give you a rough idea of the number of calories your body needs each day. It might feel like you'll get there quicker if you really restrict yourself, but most people find that their weight loss slows down as their body thinks it's starving, and clings onto every calorie for dear life  It's also easier to lose the plot and blow it if you feel really deprived and/or hungry, so it's all about balance really.

- Watch out for low fat spreads, some of them are way outside of the Xenical guidelines (5g of fat per 100g of food). I know you noted that you'd consumed 3g of fat from your spread, but it's not just about grammes per meal, you have to look at the percentage per 100g as well (ingore me if you already know all this - I don't use that particular spread, so it may well be fine!!! :))

- Salmon is another tricky one for some people (although I don't know whether smoked salmon is any different!). Salmon contains quite a bit of fat per 100g, and although the fats are 'good' ones, the Xenical can't distinguish between good and bad fats, and will work on both alike.

I hope this doesn't sound critical, because your overall fat intake for the day seems fine, it's just important be careful with foods that have a high concentration of fat, even if you're only having a little bit of them.

How are you finding it overall Becki? I really hope you manage to acheive the results you're looking for.
Keep posting, and ask any questions you think of! Everyone here is so supportive, and we CAN do this!!
xx

Hi :D
I tend to find I'm an all or nothing sort of a person, If I'm going to do something, I'll do it properly or not at all. More offen then not its not at all. I have to record everything and make lists about everything too.

I have actually been using My Fitness Pal and I'm finding it really helpfull. I have it as an app on my iphone as well as using it online.
Acording to that I should be having 1200 Calories a day. Yes to be fair I probably could have done with a few more calories yesterday. It just got too late and I was too tired(after spending 40 mins trying to work out how to set my Wii fit up on my BF's TV).

TBH Im finding the whole what I can have and what I can't have a bit difficult.
With regards to the spread, I just looked it up and apparently its 38g per 100g! I think I just saw light and thought of that must be ok. Well thats out the window then!
What spreads are better? I really couldn't do without some sort of butter completely. Just this little bit I'm having right now is a major cut down and what I was eating.

So far I haven't had any side effects from the pills. So salmon seems to be fine for me. I am however starting to get very bored of it now after 3 days of it for lunch. The fat per 100g is 10g so not majorly over the 5g rule. I guess if I have it once in a while it wont be too bad for me.

None of what you said sounded critical at all, I welcome all the help anyone wants to throw at me :D

I'm finding it really good TBH. Although to be fair I am only on day 3, so ask me this time next week! Ha ha

I'm just glad I'm doing a diet where I can eat! I did LL in 2008 for 17 weeks so I definitely know about losing the plot and having a little binge now and then. But because I am actually eating things I don't think It will really be a problem.

I'm full of willpower this time and hopefull I will get what I want most in the world.

Ive been naughty :( Could have been way worse though! Everyone had an Indian last night and I thought since Id lost some weight Id be a little bit naughty and I really fancied pasta. Oh well, todays another day.

I do however feel a lot slimmer today so yay for me.

Oh and I forgot to say I reached my 4lb goal on my Wii in 4 days! Yay!
Thats was from Friday evening till Tuesday evening.
I started the diet on monday 5th, but didn't weigh myself till the tuesday (as I forgot). I weighed myself on my DP's dads scales, then a couple of days later I weighed myself again on them BUT I nudged the dial on them, then had to put it back to where it should have been. Im not totally sure they were correct in the first place. So then I weighed myself on the Wii on firday and have done ever since.
So long story short I don't really know how much Ive lost, but according to the Wii it was 4lb and 1lb before on DP's Dads scales, but I think It was more.
But Im sticking to 5lb and I will only weigh myself on the Wii at my house

well done

thats great!
just read thru, good idea too write everything down
