We don't eat a lot of mince in our house, but i fancied a spaghetti bolognese, i've made it, it says lean steak mince.
Is this free or would I need to syn it?

It tastes delish, and I didnt need to drain any fat and just fried it with fry light.
Thanks.

Some say that if the pack doesn't specify that it's the extra lean sort then you should syn it. However I've never synned mince.
I buy my minced steak from the butchers and just drain off any excess when browning it. Everyone is different though and if it seems to affect your weightloss you should consider synning it.

Lean steak mince is not syn free - only extra lean (less than 5% fat).

The lean stuff (can be up to 20% fat) needs to be synned but it is not hugely high only half a syn per 28g raw weight. Draining the fat off or even rinsing it in boiling water, as some people do, does not make it syn free either.
