Cambridge diet

Oh midwiferys hard work, physically and mentally eh. I'm a community psychiatric nurse. Which is half the problem cause I only drag my bum off my chair, into my car, onto someone's couch. And that's if they don't come to me. My weight ballooned when I went to the community to work. My mum has been the most supportive. My OH can't believe I've stuck to something for 9 days without so much as a tiny cheat :).

We will do this x

Yes it is but unfortunately sweet treats in the staff room limited breaks or none at all nights shifts etc lead to a lot of convenience foods and picking off what is now known as the fat table lol.

I actually lost weight in the community bc I got a break and wasn't tired eating or craving that instant sugar hit. Hopefully ill be out again sometime this year!

Also after a 12.5hr shift quite often the quickest and eAsiest solution was unfortunately a takeaway :(

I'm hoping this is gonna reeducate me along the way :)

Xx

This is the first time I've publicly admitted my weight. I started 18 - 6.5 (I'm embarrassed even typing that). Lost 10.5 in week one so currently 17.10. I'm hoping to get to 11, which is still too heavy for my 5" 5" frame but would be a dream for me. Bet some people start their journey at 11 ;).

What about you Monica?x

Well done for facing it.

My heaviest on record is 17.9. I lost 5 stone with Sw and put the weight on up to 15.2 again when I left - slowly but it still went on.

So on Cambridge my starting was 15.2 and I lost 12 in the first week. I'm hoping ill manage 5 this week and get back into the 13s!!

My target is 10st! X

I started 14.1 and lost 7lbs first week so im 13.8. My first target is 10st (im 5'3") but ideally would like to be 8.7. Small steps and we will all get there xx

That was an amazing loss in your first week. Well done. I've done every diet under the sun before this, with little success. Unfortunately for me, the eat as much as you like on slimming world, wasn't for me, cause I did exactly that. Great diet if you can control your portions tho :).

Youl be in the 13s in no time at all xx

I lost weight before when I was community 9 - 5 because I was in a routine. The job I'm doing just now is mental health crisis, so we work late shifts and weekends, tho thankfully not nights. I remember driving home after a nightshift ravenous then scoffing bacon sandwiches oozing with butter. By the time you finish a long shift you just want something quick and unhealthy. Well I did. Hoping this break from food will help me re-evaluate my relationship with food. The relationship being - I love food and it doesn't love me :) xx

Isn't it strange we all work in the health industry. Im a student nurse but been a hca for 15yrs. I always used to frown on these diets, but after having researched it, an my CDC is a nurse too, I properly understand it, and know its not dangerous.
I went out last night, managed not to drink, was difficult when friend was saying just he a sip of this cocktail :-( but I managed to say no...just pretended I was a diabetic and couldn't have the sweet things haha!
But on a good note, I was just about to leave and then I realised I hadn't had my dinner...I wasn't hungry at all ??? I have only been on this a week today, and my trousers that I brought a few weeks ago are big on me ?? which is good as they were an 18!!
I think when I am at work I am going to tell people I am on the 5:2 aswell, everyone always has an opinion so I'm finding with some people I just don't engage in conversation as I can't b bothered to defend it. Although I do have supportive friends and family as they know I am so determined to do this, nothing will put me off.
What me and a couple of my friends have done (one that are on a diet) have made a group conversation on whatsapp (messaging app on mobile) so as there's a few of us, when one of us is weak and wan to pig out, we have a group conversation and encouragement to put down the bad food and distraction from thinking about it, it handy!!
Just the dreaded bank holiday family dinner today :-(
Xx

Well done on surviving your night out Chauntelle. Are you doing your general nurse training? I did general nursing first, then changed to mental health, quite a few years ago now tho.

Not a bank holiday here in Glasgow unfortunately.

Think I'm going to back to the gym this week. Every little counts.

Here's to a 100% day for us all xx

Good Job :D hey if you survived a night out with cocktails you can survive the dinner easy if you really have to eat just stick to green veggies and a bit of meat (NO gravy or potatoes and definitely no pudding, even fruit as it will kick you out of ketosis)

Yeah I start my 3rd year next month (scary)

Will have lots of ice with my shake at lunch lol, I think it's good knowing one mouthful/sip of something will bring me out of ketosis....before I would of had a bite of food, and not worried about it...now I'm thinking...if I do, all the hard work was for nothing!
Onwards and upwards ladies ??
X

Yeah anything with citric acid kicks you out of ketosis so be extra careful with diet coke and the likes! I know I definitely don't want the Keto headaches again, not sure it would be so bad after you have expelled the glycogen in the first week but its not a risk worth taking in my oppinion :)

Your third year will fly by. Have you decided what area you want to work in when your qualified? I worked in medical receiving mostly when I worked in general.

This the first time I've been 100% on a diet. Like you Chauntelle the odd nibble, or more than likely, il just have it and be extra strict tomorrow (I never was). Am finding all the products a bit blah now and it's only day 10!! It's a means to an end I keep telling myself. Nice food will still be there when we're slim. In moderation of course :) x

Hi Marie, I was a HCA in a&e for 7 years then I worked in sexual health/HiV/family planning for 4 years (one extreme to the other lol) but I'm trying to keep options open the where I would like to go, think it will be hospital based a the moment as I like acute care. But I guess where ever a job is available...fingers crossed.
Yeah I'm a terrible "snacker" I pick at everything and didn't even realise how many times I picked in a day. I gave up meat 7yrs ago...managed to stick to that, just nothing else for more than a few days.
So well done us for getting past the first week :)
I didn't think I would make it this far lol
:)

Hospitals a good first post to get a broad base of experience before specialising somewhere. Tho you've already lots of experience which will stand you in good stead when the time comes to get a staffing post. The job situ here in Glasgow for nurses is dire. Feel sorry for newly qualified when the best they can hope for is an internship. Hopefully it's better where you are.

Well day 10. I know most people say it gets easier and I'm defo not hungry. Just struggling with the mental and social side of the diet. I'm off today and tomorrow and would normally have lunch plans or something, but here I am stuck in the house. Anyway, enough moans from me. We've done well to get a week behind us :). Here's to a good week 2. My weigh in is fri this week. Can't have a consistent day because of shift work but trying to keep them to the morning x

Woohoo...1st weigh in and I've lost 9lbs ?? so happy, nothing can remove my smile. Roll on Monday when I can have the bars and water flavouring ? my CDC said I can mix the flavouring and freeze it, so I'm going to do that so I feel like I'm having a treat after dinner. Can't wait for a fizzy flavour drink ??
Good luck everyone
Xx

7lbs in 2 weeks is a good loss. Good for you keeping going after being ill and that its not put you off x

Haha I think I am mental, looking forward to a fizzy drink n a bar is the highlight of my life ATM lol.
Well done for sticking to this if your ill, this diet brought my cycle on early, and heavy...felt so ill...but now that's over I feel great. I honestly didn't believe I would feel this good if u said I wouldn't put anything solid in my mouth for 2 weeks lol.
Weekends are my worst times, as going out again...must stick to fizzy water hmmmm boring! But when I get thin I will be living it ??
Hope everyone has had a good day
XxxX

I lost 2 and a half just this week. Wee bit dissapointed but suppose its 13 pounds in 13 days. Also I feel totally bloated this week. So fingers crossed for next week.
Chauntelle, prepare for much jealousy ;). I'm sitting here sipping sparkly water with the berry flavour in it. Have to say its quite nice. Total rock and roll on a Friday night me :)
