Carb differences in Packs!

I could stock up on whatever I like, but I'm not sure chicken has the same pull as chocolate buttons!! But I intend to start tomorrow and see how I get on. Cupboards are empty apart from a few bags of porridge, fridge is empty almost.. So fingers crossed. My plan is lose the 18lbs that's getting me down, go on my holiday and do lots of walking to help adjust my metabolism, the stick with weight watchers to maintain, which worked for 6 months until I had some drama in my life and I went to Mexico for 3 wks and over indulged, everyday!!!

Good luck getting to goal!!!

Well just go for it they are supposed to be nice I also am finding it hard to justify the money xxxx

100% with you on that one too Hun, (justifying the money). I have done all the diets under the sun, but this one and LL actually work, however, when you have a mortgage to pay and 2 other hungry people in the house that eat real food, the costs do add up. I just love the quick results of this.... I wonder if I am just addicted to it all. OH keeps reminding me, that these VLCDs, 'Are not a lifestyle'....

Like I said before, I have done WW and SW in the past and you still have to spend money on fresh fruit and veg but losing 1/2 a pound a week was soul distroying:eek:, and you are literally just paying out to get weighted on those 2 diets when you can look up all the info, get support from other people and recipe ideas from the internet and this forum and weigh yourself on your own scales!!! xxx

I am with you on the chicken vs chocolate buttons! no contest is there girl!? I guess you are a chocolate fiend just like me. It is hard. I am here at the mo with DD fast asleep and OH works nights, so in a way I am alone quite a bit. The cupboards here are HEAVING with treats and additional chocs from Easter and it is taking me a hell of a lot of will power to ignore that especially as no one is around to monitor me!! I also love to bake but that is out of the question!!!
I was so bad, I used to keep my choc stash in the divan drawer!! OH calls me 'Secret Squirrel!':D Holidays are for over indulging to an extent anyway ! What is the point of going on holiday to be miserable and suck on a lettuce leaf?! You can do THAT when you get back!!!
I am going away on 22nd July and no doubt I will be back on CD:rolleyes:

Can you still use the Mix-a-Mousse with the Slim and Save shakes?!

Lx

Gosh - some posts seem to have disappeared before I could add my tuppenceworth - very confusing....

Anyway, all Cambridge portions are designed to be compatible with our Steps, no matter what the carb content is..... The Chewy bars do contain more carbs than the Crunch bars, which were formulated specifically to contain approximately half the carbs of the original Chewy ones, as well as providing a mighty 12 times the fibre, which can really help to avoid constipation, as long as sufficient liquid is taken with them.... but after a couple of weeks on Step 1, it's all a matter of choice and taste....

Those pretty silver flashes on the Cambridge packets which display the Calorie-values can be rather misleading: as long as you're following the Step you agreed with your Cambridge Consultant, the Calories and other elements - such as the carb content - are utterly irrelevant, because all our products are designed to work, no matter what, if you stick to them.

Cambridge bars are formulated very differently from most other meal-replacement bars - and I've tried every one of the others on the market over more than 25 years... some of them have been vile, some absolutely delicious, but not one of them has the nutritional profile and satiety value of a Cambridge mealbar.

If you have any queries about your Cambridge plan, do ask your Consultant first - that's what we're here for, and have been trained to do.... I'm around this weekend, and will pop in if you would like any further info about your progress with Cambridge.

I wish all of you the very best..... :)

Hi, I'm new and I'm very confused about why a moderator on a Cambridge Weight Plan thread is promoting S&S? Are moderators on here allowed to promote or be a rep for a particular diet plan? Of course everybody is free to try any diet they want but I'd be concerned about doing any VLCD that involves buying products online, and then using them, with no individual support, particularly if you have any medical conditions or have a very high (or low) BMI. Strange.

Hello Northeast Dieter

The thread seemed to sway to the subject of S&S and I asked Starlight for a personal opinion which in retrospect should have been done on the S&S forum which she ALSO moderates as well as Exante and other VLCDs....
Personally, I have done LL and I left 3 counsellors who basically all lacked counselling skills, read from text and put on dvds for the clients to watch, the cost was also another factor, but the lack of support from the LLC was the final straw especially as it became apparent to me and the rest of the group that she was playing on the fragility of her clients and clearly just had ££ signs in her eyes!
I am now with a Cambridge Counsellor and she has said to me outright she is not a Counseller and not trained to deal with problems, so for me I feel very let down and literally engage in general chit chat when I see her and buy my packs and go. She also pointed out, and quite rightly that it takes years to train as a Counsellor or have any sort of psychiatric qualifications and university training. I can see that she really is just a 'Supplier of the packs' and did not want to feel responsible for advice or opinions or underline issues of why her customers have weight issues..... Bottom line though, still willing to sell the packs....
Of course the diet industry as a whole is a multi million pound money spinner that even in this time of austerity, will still stand the test of time. S&S is like any internet based diet, Go Lower, Diet Chef, Herbalife, Slim Fast, Exante etc etc. I myself am sceptical in terms of trying this even though I have the samples sitting in the cupboard waiting for me.
I have wondered if this is the right path to go down as I am jumped from the very expensive LL to the slightly cheaper CD and now the cheapest of all S&S. Apparently the products are all produced by the same places anyway, just packaged and priced up in accordance to the Brand. Of course I don't want to compromise my health by buying a cheap product and getting zero support, but most people that have made the move to S&S have made the transition from another VLCD anyway so appear to be 'intune' with their bodies, however like you quite rightly say, it is rather disturbing that people would risk using a VLCD with no person to person support persay but hopefully everyone is adult enough to take responsibility of their own actions... as they would using something like an over the counter diet, and who monitors that?

Sorry, we all seemed to go off the thread and on to other issues! Thanks for answering that. I was concerned that maybe the Chewy Bars could affect my weight loss! I really like the orange bars so can be rest assured I can eat my one bar in evening without worry or guilt. :D

Im not promoting any diet. As renew me says I was asked a question and answered it based on personal experience of doing S&S. Makes no difference to me what diet people do, Im not on commision nor am I a rep lol. Far from it although we do have moderators who DO work for diet companies and have had several others in the past who were CDCs :)

I guess diet companies are realising online is the way to go, not really suprising I suppose. Personally buying online suits me far better than going to a councellor, plus the fact the price suits me better, not to mention the packs.

Nothing strange or sinister in it at all, and as renewme says, and I suspect you already know, Im moderator in all the forums on here

Hi there

What she said is absolutely right by the way.

In January 2011, what was originally known as The Cambridge Diet was rebranded as Cambridge Weight Plan to take account of the fact that we didn't want to be seen as just a diet, but a carefully devised set of weightloss steps from the VLCD Step 1 right the way up to stabilisation and maintenance phase Step 6 (and beyond). At the same time the title 'Cambridge Diet Counsellor' was replaced by Consultant which is what we're all now known by.

When Cambridge was first developed in the UK 28 years ago (yes, we have been around that long), the term Counsellor had a very different meaning from what it's now understood to be today. Many of us do have appropriate qualifications, for example I have a 1st class honours degree in Psychology and am a trained Life Coach, but also many others come from very many different backgrounds. All of us, however, have gone through the rigorous company training programmes and ongoing development training which the company insists on us doing before licencing us as Cambridge consultants. In addition every single one of us has to have done at least two steps of the programme ourselves so that we know what it entails and have had first-hand experience of the diet before applying to become consultants.

When I first looked into doing a VLCD back in 2006 there was really only a choice of Lighter Life and Cambridge available. I decided on Cambridge as I felt I would benefit more from one-to-one support rather than the group counselling offered by LL. At that time, there simply wasn't the option of purchasing VLCDs online but had there been I suspect I may have opted for that rather than going to the effort of attending a weekly meeting with my consultant, or counsellor as she was known as then, and also for cost considerations too. Looking back I'm really rather glad there wasn't that option available to me as it was the fact that I had to be accountable to someone else as well as myself which spurred me on to lose 8 stone in just under 10 months, most of which I'm glad to say I've kept off to this day.

Just to allay a fairly common misunderstanding, Cambridge only produces products for it's own brand at our very impressive factory in Corby. We do export our products all over the world through a huge network of approved overseas distributors (in fact just this week we've been awarded the highly prestigious Queens Award for Industry for our export business), but we don't manufacture for other companies.

Personally I'm very proud to be associated with a company with such a long pedigree in the industry since, as we all know, so many others have come and gone over the years. However, I'm also happy that other options do exist now as there are so many choices available for everyone who wants to lose weight which has got to be a good thing for all of us.

I've actualy found all this info really interesting. I don't have a problem with starlight discussing s&s I actualy find any information helpful. If anyone finds something that works it's got to be a good thing to share it with us. I agree this thread is going off topic, but it's an interesting read.

I have banned this user for trolling.

First post and accusing a long term mod of promoting a product? That is even stranger.

I guess I thought that CDC stood for cambridge Diet Counseller not realising it is now Consultant! I DO understand there is a MAJOR difference LOL!!!

I really lack will power and not cannot really afford all this.... in reality if I was strong enough, I could probably devise my own diet, but I have tried every other diet under the sun, WW, SL, Go Lower, and my own thing, and 1/2 a pound doesn't cut it for me.... I actually PUT ON weight on Go Lower and that was a Very costly mistake

Have you tried atkins? I made a meal plan for my mum and she lost 4stone. She ate everyday, felt satisfied and still lost weight. You might be better off with a diet like that as opposed to VLCD x
