Chelsea's last stone off by Christmas mission!!

Glad you had a great weekend and hope that tummy settles down quickly. xx:)

Lorrayne - just been looking at Jess's piccies and she looks fab. You don't look too bad yourself for an old f*rt! I think I can get away with that being as you're a grand total of 2 months older than me!
Happy Birthday by the way.

As an out and out Chelsea fan there was no way I could support ManUre :D last Saturday and I was more than a bit pleased to see them and their obnoxious, arrogant manager get a footballing lesson.

All I need now is for Andy Murray to win his match, which resumes any time now and I will be very happy!!

xxxxx
Now then steady on there girl.
Being one who was born pretty close to the stadium and having a hubby who was born in Stretford Cottage hospital which is now where the car park is, being a staunch United supporter I think I can safely say that . . . yes Sir Alex is arrogant and they played like a wunch of bankers last saturday but who won the league title for a record number of times again this year?

Anyway, glad Andy won but not so sure with the ankle that he'll go much further.

Anyway, have a lovely birthday, have a glass of two for me and don't worry about the weight. Go red next week after WI and see it drop off!

Happy birthday Hun. Have a fantabulous day. Xxxx

Hugs

I'm not worried about the gain Bev, I got on the scales last night and, as expected, I'd gained 5lbs over the weekend, but had dropped 3 overnight, so just 2lbs over what I was last week. I shall have a bit of a blow-out tonight and then back on it from tomorrow. Red week sounds good to me :)

C'mon Chels, where are you? It couldn't have been that good a birthday, could it ?!! :D

I'm here!!!!!!!!!!!! Fed up of Frimley

I had an appointment at the hospital this morning at 9:00 and got there for 8:10 because the parking is a nightmare. Didn't get the eye chart check done until 9:30, then had to wait nearly an hour to see the specialist. After a 20 minute question session, she dilated the pupil with drops then told me she would call me back in, in 10 minutes. An hour later I eventually got called. After much prodding, poking and looking she decided she wanted the opinion of the Consultant, who was "in great demand today" so another wait, then a scan on the eye.......Grrrrrrrrrr only to be told that the treatment (steroid drops) I'd been given periodically over the last 17 years was totally unnecessary and in fact.....useless and to stop using them immediately.

It was a previous Consultant who first prescribed the drops. I am so angry because these drops caused clouding of the vitreous jelly inside the eye which needed an operation to drain it, the drops also caused a cataract, which needed another operation, which led to a detached retina, which needed another operation and led to terrible double vision for a year or so......and it was all "unnecessary". The eye is totally knackered now and if I lost the use of my good eye then it would be a labrador and a white stick for me :cry:Also it is a bit worrying because I had always been told that the steroid drops should be tailed off gradually, whereas today I was told to just stop using them. Whoever you see, it seems, has a different viewpoint.

4.5 hours in the hospital and a £5 parking fee for the privilege. Consequently a kit-kat and an egg mayo sarnie for lunch..........not SW, Dukan, WW, Tony doo dah or any other diet really but hey-ho. Will burn that off hopefully posh frock shopping tomorrow or 12 mile walking on Sunday.

I hope you are all doing ok though.

xxxxxxx

Oh Sweetheart, what a cr*p day. Poor you. :hug99:
All in a rush, will write more later. xxxxxxx

Oh Chels - We rely on the consultants to get it right and now they seem to be arguing with each other. Must have been a pants day so big hugs coming over the ether to you.

Grrrrrrr. I feel for you. Can you talk to them again when you've had chance to digest the information from today to find out why the opinions differ so much ???

Hope your tummy is feeling better soon. Don't worry too much about the big gain - you can't possibly gain 5 'real' lbs overnight so I'm not surprised that most of it came off within a day or two.

Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY :)

:hug99: What a day you had.

(sorry l keep going awol!)

Big hugs Chels - how awful for you. I agree with Gail, get an appointment to really talk through how this could have happened and really get them to justify their current advice so that you at least are happy that what they are telling you now is correct . xxx

Hi Yang,

I am so glad that you did finally get to see a Consultant. I think that medicine changes over time, and what was the protocol 17 years ago has probably changed.

However, if you are still in doubt ask your GP to refer you to another consultant for a second opinion -- make an appointment and tell him how concerned you are over being told to suddenly stop the medication and also how this treatment has had horrible side effects over the years, etc. I know I would be very distressed.

I had a friend who sufferred two miscarriages before her OB (who had been her mother's OB) retired. The new younger doctor tested her thyriod when she concieved again and treated from a condition that only surfaced when she pregnant. She had two more children. (The old doctor had not kept with medical advances.)

Last year I had a health scare and we decided to pay for second opinion with the leading consultant in this area for this issue. He concurred with what the other doctor had said, but he also agreed that this other physician had not handled my case well (poor communication, etc.).

I am now going to email this doctor and book an annual follow-up for which my private insurance (I hope) will pay. I do not trust the NHS referral system -- I should have received a follow-up appointment for May, but I know it has not been made. With the budget cuts I will have to fight to get a mammogram even though I had two biopsies last year and will be 50 in a few months, and my mother has had breast cancer.

But even if my insurance won't pay -- I'd rather see a doctor I trust and do without some new clothes or whatever I'd have spent the money on instead. This isyour sight -- do what can to get information and treatment you trust.

Mel

How horrible for you, Doctors, I would rather go and see the vet, I would probably get better care !
Best of luck, I hope everything works out and take care.:D
