Conso - one week in

Poilane loaves are really humungous! Did you see that the €28 one weighs 1.9K undecorated, and 2.3K with the inscription on? So with our paltry little 40g a day serving, it would last 2 months!

No wonder Marie Antoinette told the revolting peasants to eat cake - at that price the bread is way too expensive!

Not found any yet but I think I'll stick to Finn crisp - less damage to the wallet...

That's why I am so pleased to buy it and freeze it at 29p a loaf

That's a much better price. Did you say you get them at Waitrose?

Waitrose: once a week or so they mark down all the loaves from £4+ to 29p - 79p. Last time was 5.55pm on Sunday.

(But I have paid the full price when necessary - really good bread is can be as special as really a good cake or the best olive oil, and so it costs the same.)

In the past I have always been happy to pay for a lovely loaf of bread.

Personally pre-Dukan I loved the slices of Italian toasting bread they sell in waitrose - about £2 for either 6 or 8 slices.

I discovered it on holiday in puglia :) massive great big crusty loaves - it was simply delicious...

Bet that isn't allowed :-(
