Daft Question - Reputation, Thanks, Likes

Can someone explain, I'm a little confused, what is the difference between all these different things.

Reputation you seem to be able to give a thread from the scales at the bottom left.

You can thank someone for their post

You can like their post

You can rate a thread

Is there any kind of etiquette for how to use all these different things? Sorry if this is daft, I'm just a little confused by it all!

I have absolutely no idea. According to my stats I've been thanked 4 times in 4 posts - have absolutely no idea why????? LOL xx

It used to be rep was the only way to thank people. Then the thanks button was introduced and more recently the like feature. Likes were introduced because people felt that thanks weren't what they wanted to say.

Basically you can use any.

I tend to rep for good posts (can't beat it when you log on and see you have new rep)

I use thanks in my diary to acknowledge post weigh in posts

And likes are for well things I like :)

I've no idea! Lol!

I came on one day and noticed the like buttons. I often forget to thank people for their replies to my posts and sometimes feel so guilty for forgetting to thank them.
