Day 1 smoke-free: now day 150! Wooooo!!! :-D

Hi Sian !!

Hope you made it through the weekend.

Thank you all for the ongoing encouragement :) Sue - I made it through the weekend! Despite having a night out and being surrounded by smokers everywhere I didn't give in! :bliss:

Shame I can't be so disciplined with what I eat on a day to day basis *currently sitting here munching on some Green & Blacks Butterscotch chocolate* :D

Ive been following you're thread Sian and a massive well done to you!!

I gave up smoking 5 years ago now and went cold turkey and it was so difficult for the first week.

Now, it doesnt bother me at all and the smell makes me feel sick!:jelous:

Keep up the good work, youre doing brilliant!! x

Well I've just updated the title of the post as I'm now on day 11, wooo! :D Now that I feel that the nicotine cravings are under control it's time to sort out eating properly (the rhubarb crumble definitely wasn't on plan, oops! :D)

Fandabidoozy !!!!!

That is brilliant.

Be proud of yourself . That is one hell of an achievement.

It is hard to watch the eating and give up smoking all in one fell swoop. Worry about the eating when you have this monkey off your back. Obviously try not to be to bad but do not beat yourself up if you get a craving for something lush..........better to have a bit of rhubarb crumble than light a cancer stick or as my dad used to call them...... a coffin nail.

Hi, I just joined yesterday, and was thinking of giving up smoking too. I have been on Dukan for a week and I don't know if it is best to finish the diet first, or combine both. Any tips would be a great help.
Thanks,
Londoner1

Hiya hun! I have to say I'm struggling with trying to follow my diet at the same time as giving up smoking. I'm trying not to be too bad with what I eat but at the end of the day, like Sue said, it's better to eat something yummy than to light up a cigarette. So I'm not beating myself up too much about the food choices, and concentrating on not smoking :) I am trying to eat fruit though as opposed to something like a chocolate bar, lol! xx

Brilliant!!! well done Sian ...I gave up a 40 year, 50 a day habit 16 months ago and don't miss it at all, had a couple of months where my weight did go up and I did crave them, but compared to other times an increase just shy of 1.5st , in close on 3 months was good for me, but what I came on here to say was, a little tip that someone gave to me when I quit, may not work for you, but did for me is, every time you feel like a smoke, have a few sips of water (or any drink come to that), it also helped with my weight loss fortunately, but I found the craving would go after about half a dozen sips or so, anyway keep up the good work, you can do this and think of the money you will save and how much fresher you'll smell lol xx

Well I'm now on day 15! :D I'm so pleased with myself - I had two nights out this weekend, one to see a band and the other just to socialise, and I not only resisted smoking but wasn't even bothered that other people were. Literally everybody I was out with on Saturday was a smoker, but I didn't bat an eyelid! :D:D

I make that one-nil to me versus the cigarettes! :D xx

Yeah !!!! Brilliant !!!!!

Well done Sian.

If you are anything like I was you will eventually dislike the smell of cigarette smoke and the sight of a full ashtray.

I'm hoping so Sue - at the moment the smell of smoke is still something that I enjoy, but in time I'll get there :) I think it's helping that my parents both smoke at home, so I'm having to deal with smokers on a daily basis. It probably makes it easier in social environments to resist smoking :)
