If anyone is starting today or in day 2, keep going as today my stomach definately looks less bloated (interpret flatter!) and I don't think I'm hungry.

I'm off out all day so I'm going via tesco to buy their meal replacement bars similar to exante and lots of bottles of water!

Hope everyone else has a good day!

Hey Crims
Thats great! Day two and I woke up soooo thirsty and with a headache, felt like a hangover (but was no boozing last night, how unfair!)
Good luck today, great plan to take bars and water with you!

Water, water then more water. It really helps. No good having a hangover without the fun bit.

Hi guys, I had a great day, on my feet all day and grooming for a friend too. I had a shake this am, 2 bars and a protein and salad meal tonight. I was trying to do TS so not exactly my plan but I'm glad I didn't cave and have something which would push me out of ketosis.

The bars as I understand you can have on exante and are similar to exante ones except cheaper. I'm sure a more knowledgable exanter can confirm that. I think they are called complete meal replacement bars, they come in chocolate and yogurt an strawberry. Both are nice, I should know I had one of each today. I got 6 bars for £3.50.

I know that my water intake was down today prob only 2ltrs, it's quote difficult to drink on the go. What's worse is the frequent wee breaks, not easy when you are in sole charge of a 17hh jumping machine!

I suspect weekends might deviate a little from TS at the weekends, but as long as I don't binge or do anything which takes me out of ketosis then I'm happy.

I do feel a bit bad though because I was hosting a breakfast at mine tomorrow for my friends as we are off to hickstead again and it is usually a long day, but I've cancelled because it would be a big fry up and I know I would serve myself one.

Oh well, never mind!

Oh and I think of you are having a meal then you should only have 2 shakes or 1 shake and 1 bar

I know Exante's 'rules' say that you must always have 3 packs but I don't agree that it is totally wrong not to. For most people it probably is wrong due to the missing nutrients if you don't have the correct number of shakes.

I don't always adhere to this but then on the other hand I supplement my 'diet' with very good multi-vitamin and mineral tablets (4 a day), Omega 3 and psyllium husks for fibre.

It means if I have two bars (normally Tesco one's or Atkins for a treat!!) and one shake I know I'm still getting the necessary nutrients.

I'm not sure what impact doing this has on weight loss but it makes it a lot easier to adhere to a VLCD for me. I have only had a 'cheat' meal once in nearly three weeks, on Fathers Day - Sausages, eggs, bacon etc - so did not run any risk of coming out of ketosis.

I'm not saying not sticking to the rules would work for everyone but an adaptation of the diet is working for me so far - I've been wearing some of my old (nice) clothes again already and it feels pretty good.

I don't see any reason not to adapt things to suit the individual - but, it is important to keep reading and get a better understanding of it all before doing this.

The strict guidelines are probably what help most people stick to the plan and achieve the success that they desire :)

How do you know that the supplements you're taking are giving you what's missing from the packs. And why bother with faffing about with vitamins etc when it's all there for you

Sorry but I just don't get why people think it's ok to skip a pack. Its one drink. Nothing more. Is it really worth risking your health for the sake of ONE pack. Skipping a pack isn't going to increase your weight loss any

Actually having 2 bars and a pack isn't anywhere near as bad as missing a pack

As I said, what works for me may not work for other people. I like the bars, I get my nutrients from a different source. I know what nutrients the shakes have and I just ensure that I am getting at least the same or more.

The shakes do not provide the essential fats that I get from the Omega 3. I have arthritis in my hands and dodgy knees from playing a lot of football and I use additional supplements for these.

If you have a meal instead of a shake and a meal, the meal can of course be bigger :) That might be skipping a pack but it's not necessarily taking in less calories.

I just prefer the idea of being a bit more flexible about things, but like I said in my last post I do understand that it is adhering to the plan that makes a diet like this work for many people, so I know where you're coming from. Some people need to have a rigid plan and stick to it or risk failure.

But... on the other hand I think a little bit of flexibility can help some people stick out a VLCD 'regime' for the duration that is necessary for them.

We're all different and what suits you or me maybe doesn't quite fit so well for someone else.

Sorry but that's totally wrong information!!

You MUST ALWAYS have 3 packs a day if you're having a meal it's as well as your shakes not as a replacement
I'm new to this so I stand corrected, thanks for putting us newbies right. Benefit of a forum!

Having 2 bars a day is fair enough there's people on here and on other VLCDs who are going that. Having 2 bars and a shake a day is totally different to having 2 shakes and a meal. Having 3 packs what ever combination they are is still going to get you your daily quota of nutrients. A meal and 2 packs isn't
