de-cluttering the home, as well as body & mind

The bed arrived nice and early this morning so that's the bedroom complete! We still have stuff in storage to sort back in (or throw out) which will be done at the weekend. We also have a car load of stuff to take to the tip on Saturday. The serious sorting out will begin then

Progress today has felt small and slow, but actually looking back I thing i've done mroe than I thought !!

Cleaned off and rearranged mantle shelf and fire place ( some of my niknaks were still in a box having been packed way to make room for christmas decorations so it has also meantt another box emptied and in the recycling:D)
put lots of clean clothes away
decluttered kitchen and wiped down surfaces.
bleached sink
1 load of laundry ( still drying)
I bag of paperwork sorted thru
bookcase in Noni's room sorted and tidyed-can now see her floor too :D

Not bad, not bad at all !!!!!

I see the light at the end of this tunnel -- whoop! You're really getting this in hand!

Very good. Decluttering is February's assigned task! :). And paper clutter is the worst.

Kitchen floor cleaned. DS's school paperwork sorted, classes for next term selected, research for future education investigated, etc. downstairs bath cleaned. Compost bins (sink ones) bleached. Three loads of laundry washed, airing cupboard stuff drying, two loads combined in dryer, one load waiting, two loads from yesterday put away (and these are AMERICAN SIZED loads). Hair washed. Purse declutter (Friday task). Grocery list written, weekly paper read and tossed. Reservation for conference filled out and ready to post. Dinner made.

Not done: vacuum kitchen rugs, downstairs hallway, stairs, living room, cardboard tossed, thrift store drop off, grocery shopping, wood in bedroom oiled, windows in kitchen, MBR, loo and ensuite not cleaned (or ironing). But, I'll try to sort some of this.

Oh, DD wants to go get trainers -- but I think well do this on the weekend (Sunday). I need to get birthday gifts for a party on Saturday (two friends having a combined disco -- dressy party -- DD needs a strapless bra for her one shouldered dress). It's always something!

I'm lagging.

dD2 bed stripped
Wash hung on drying rack
One in the washer
Some dry Clothes folded and put away ( mount washmore still in playroom though)
Comforter washed and dried for main bed
Dishwasher cleaned and Load recycled
Dinner dishes cleared away.
Lounge hoovered

Errand day . Finally gave all my papers to my union rep for tomorrow. Got stopped by the police for picking up my bloody phone in the car as I was waiting in traffic ( it fell from the hands free holster) urgh. Drivers ed for me!

Unreal. You are soooo overdue for good karma.

Today's Flight Plan

Today is Friday: De-Clutter Your Purse and Car Day.

**(Did handbag yesterday -- will try and sort the car today. I need to clean it properly.)

This week we are in Zone 4: The Master Bedroom

This month's Habit is: Decluttering for 15 Minutes a Day

**(Doing this)

*************************************

Zone 4: Mission #5 Friday

Today is the last day in the Master Bedroom. Take 15 minutes to declutter your dresser. Get the things off the top of your dresser that you have placed there that you were going to put away later. Later is now. Take the time to take care of this; it really makes a great difference.

** (Want to try and get this done, along with some laundry, vacuuming the downstairs, errands, grocery shopping, etc. Let's see how much I accomplish -- thus far, some laundry, dishes, email, text, and trip stuff done. Time to move it!)

Well came home from my hearing.

Mount washmore is gone.
Load hung up to dry
Cooked dinner
Hoovered livingroom hall and kitchen rug
Cleaned the kitchen
stacked the dishwasher
Swished and swiped the bathroom

Need to clean the windows of the master bedroom I so want a steamer for this reason!

I so want

Shine my sink is the most under rated motivator on earth. Nothing makes me feel more overwhelmed than a sink that's full of dishes.

I totally agree, although my sink is the most annoying thing and I can't seem to get the water marks off the drainer, and when I do, the slightest bit of water ruins it again!

Luckily for me, we moved house around 6 months ago so clutter is to a minimum. The spare room which is my OH's 'studio' is starting to get a bit cluttered as I keep moving paperwork and letters from where they get dumped in the kitchen to his desk. Also in dire need of an over-door coat hanger as the coats we aren't currently using have nowhere to live. Also the vacuum cleaner, airer, sweeping brush and ironing board have no proper home. The joys of living in a city centre flat that doesn't even have one storage cupboard :(

Morning! Need -- to -- find -- motivation!

Live my steamer -- don't use it enough. Argos has a pretty good one for about 30 pounds. I gave my friend one for her birthday.

:wavey: I just started with FlyLady again. Doing the basic morning and before bed routines! YAY for shiny sinks and early bedtimes!

I need to do the morning routines. I just jump in a flap about...not really flying!

Shine my sink is the most under rated motivator on earth. Nothing makes me feel more overwhelmed than a sink that's full of dishes.

It is -- I can't cook in an untidy kitchen.

Try using white vinegar on a oft cloth to wipe your sink.

Get an over the door coat hanger for one door (I have one on the back of the office door) or if there is a place on the wall near the door, put up one of those wooden board with coat peg things.

Love this made from old skis! I might go looking for something to create this!

By the front door I have a pine shelf with some pegs underneath it. It s supposed to be used for "guests coats". DH puts his keys on that shelf and we have a dog leash hanging there. I end up moving coats and crud off those pegs the hall tree -- it's too much effort for them to open the cost wardrobe right by the front door.

In also have an antique long wooden strip thing with pegs (under the stairs along with with the dog's crate, her carry box on top, a box with her stuff in it, and a pine box with DD's skate bag, extra pool towels, etc. in it). The long peg thing and a cheap hook strip above it is used to hang her school bag, swim suits, racquet ball gear, extra PE kit, a bag with extra swim stuff, etc.

Also, there are over the door ironing board and iron holders.

Strips of clips for the back of the door that hold mops, brooms, etc.

One of my vacuum cleaners is tucked behind a dresser in a corner and another is under a cover. I'm planning to make bother cover -- I have a pattern.

Ooh good idea I will try and get some white vinegar this weekend!

Definitely going to buy an over door hanger when I get paid next week. I have one for my en suite door but it means the door won't close properly :(

Ironing board and iron hanger is such a clever idea! I have one of those huge steam irons with the base that fills with water so I'm not sure I'd be able to get one it would fit on. You've given me good ideas though!

The other thing about this flat is we aren't allowed to drill in to the walls at all and we have limited space for anything free-standing. It's a beautiful flat but its a nightmare for a tidy freak like me. My mum has given me a very old wooden blanket box which was my great nanans so that will fit somewhere in the bedroom for storage :)

The steam generator could go in the box. Not being able to hang stuff is a real hassle.

We emptied the storage unit yesterday and I was extremely ruthless when sorting through the boxes. Another 3 bags to go to charity and those will probably be added to! All stuff sorted back in and the bedroom looks no different for it (meaning it is still spotlessly tidy :D ) but the lounge still needs much work. At the moment there is a lot of cardboard from the boxes and some rubbish to go out so it will have to wait til tomorrow as that is collection day. Once all that is gone I can start sorting out in here and get it back to it's original, pre-christmas state. I have a friend visiting on Wednesday so the aim is to get it all straight by then

Very impressed -- you're really getting this accomplished.

Today is Sunday: Renew Your Spirit Day

This week we are in 2 Zones:
Zone 5: The Living Room
Zone 1: The Entrance, Front Porch and Dining Room

February Habit: Decluttering for 15 Minutes a Day
March Habit: Getting Dressed to Shoes

Everyone has been doing so well!

I have just written out my very long to do list which is kind of like starting from scratch. A friend is taking my kids today so I'll aim to get stuck into it. By the end of this week I want the house sorted & back onto my flylady schedule.

Sent from my new ARCHOS tablet :)

I am almost at the bottom of my washing basket :D

Impressed. I've washed a load, have a couple to fold and a mountain of ironing!
