Hello Peony,
I hope you survived the visit to the dentist and it wasn't bad news.
When I did abstinence for 10 months I went to the dentist about half way through for a normal check up. He didn't comment apart frpm saying I didn't need to see the hygienist ( he didn't know I hadn't eaten anything) !
HOWEVER, when I went back about 6 months after reaching goal and reintroducing food. He did a double take and got my previous xrays out. I got really nervous at this point. Then he said "I don't remember this mouth! Did I see you last time?" So then I told him - he was gobsmacked :)8855::brushing teeth:) and said my mouth was so much healthier than on my last visit.
I'm going again at the end of Feb. It'll be a different dentist so I'll see what he says. I've got a sore gum at the moment too.

Hi Everyone

Another 3lbs for me this week. I hope everything went well for you at the dentist peony. Mel how has your week been?

I wrote down how I was really feeling this week and before I could change my mind sent them to my hubby. Bless his cotton socks he was so understanding and was truly upset about how I was feeling about life. I feel to get control again I need to be more honest about how I am feeling and find a non aggressive or passive way in letting my family know.

hi girlies

Peony - let us know how you got on the the dentist!! hope your not too traumatised!

Pancras - im okay, had a bit of a blip that wasnt really my fault (see previous post somewhere) other than that i am fine thanks. I have lost 2 lbs this week so heading in the right direction

Everyone else - hope all you guys are okay!! much love and hugs xxx

Hi everyone
Thanks for your thoughts - survived the dentist lol! Good news and bad - the good news was he took an xray an there was no absess, (sp?) the bad news was he can't tell what the problem is - it is the gum around a crown, and the crown hides the inside of the tooth on the xray. Can't tell if the tooth has a problem without taking the crown off. It could just be a localised small infection from catching with a toothbrush or getting some food (food? what food! lol) stuck down the gum, or it could be a problem with the tooth in which case next stop it goes to the nerve, next stop root canal work!

So fingers crossed it is just nothing and will clear up - he has booked me in in a month to review.

SB - hope your gum pain has improved since you posted above.

Laters, my soup beckons........

i have decided to change my pattern of packs. i seem to be a minx in the evening and it is getting harder to stop picking. sooooooo my new plan is (and seems to be working, well today anyway lol)

i have 1 pack at lunchtime - and then save the rest for after work. i have one about 4.30 another at about 7.00 (when i sit down to study) and save the bar for my treat at about 9.00pm. I know we are supposed to space them out to get used to 'good habits' for when we are back in the world of food. but at the moment I am in survival mode, and have to do what i need to, to get to target!!! plus when i am in the world of food. i can sit and munch on carrots and cucumber when i want to pick!!!

anyway, Dr Faustus and iambic pentameter (in dont know either, and im studying it lol) is calling.

Take care ladies and gents!!!

Hello lovely chums
Won't be around much for a couple of days - I bought OH tickets to see Vampire Weekend for christmas - only catch is that they weren't playing in Nottingham, so we are driving 4 hours to Bexhill on Sea near Hastings to see them instead! - must be potty! It will be a nice get away though, as I have booked a lovely hotel to stay in with spa/gym/pool etc. so whilst he is enjoying his hotel food I can go exercise/chill. And dd is at grandma and grandad's for the night.

Setting off soon to avoid the worstof the Friday traffic, so have a wonderful (and abstinent, ahem Mel!) weekend everyone.

Love
Peony

PS regarding the packs Mel, I really wouldn't worry about 'Should' regarding times of packs, do what you need to do to get back on track honey, whatever time it means you are having them - once you are back in the routine, you can see about spacing them closer to regular mealtimes. The thing is your routine is all change with all the changes to your life at the mo so you need to do what you need to do to get through.

KEEP IT UP GORGEOUS - you have stuck with me on this journey through thick and thin, I don't want to lose you by the wayside now!!!!!! xxx

Hey where are my pals? You doing ok Mel - Pancras??
Had a v good time at the Vampire Weekend concert - first time in so long I coul let my hair down and not feel all self conscious about my size. Had a good boogie and the band were amazing - well worth the 4 hour drive!

Really finding this last slog HARD. I just licked a knife after doing dd's toast. What is wrong with me? I have never done that! Lost 2lb and then gained 1 back this week which I know logically is water as I haven't eaten anything but is still a pi*%er!

Hope you are doing ok lovies. Xxxx

Don't let your head drop peony!! You know you will be on a big loss next week!! Maybe u built some extra muscle on your legs whilst dancing or held onto water cosbof the crazy dancing. I'm doingnokay. Currently sitting in the car park of Reading uni waiting for my 1st tutorial for my degree course. I'm a bit nervous, but I like meeting new people so I'm hoping it will be fun. I'm waiting to see if they do that thing where u go round the table and introduce yourself and give an interesting fact.....guess what mines gonna be lol.

I'm thinking about getting a t shirt printed up saying I have lost 10 stone!!! (when I get to targetnof course). Also my otherhalf has found a White gold ring with 10 emeralds in it that will go perfectly with my engagement ring. So each emerald will represent each stone I have lost(I stole the idea from katelena). So when I get to target inthink I might get that too. There's a great incentive.

Right best go, need to see if I need ablaze for my car and am busting for a wee XXXXXXX

Hiya gorgeous - thanks for the pep talk, good luck with your tutorial - just imagine how different you would have felt if you hadn't lost the weight you have going into a new situation like that. Still nerve racking but somehow better for hopefully being a bit less self conscious?

How lovely your oh getting involved re the target ring - I pointed out a gorgeous ring inscribed La Vita E Un Dono, (‘Life is a Gift’) that I thought would be nice to mark my achievement at the end in Wright and Teague the other day but hubbie wasn't biting lol will have to treat myself!
xxxxxx

You never know.....give him a chance. he might go back for it!! Especially if you leave REALLY big hints, like leaving the internet open on the picture, or a catalogue or something lol. I told my hubby thats what I wanted, so no mistakes to be made lol!!

Hi Guys

Bad bad week for me. I did my back in and suffered a couple of Gallstone attacks, not a good combination, unfortunately I headed straight for the kitchen for solace and did not look back. Anyway the damage has been done and I have weighed in with a11lb damage.

I am back on the wagon and feeling less sorry for myself and a determination to finish this journey regardless of what life may throw at me.

Sorry to hear you have had a crappy week. I'm glad to hear you are back on track. It goes to prove, old habits die hard, and learning new behaviours on how to cope is essential!!! I'm am on that journey too. I have had blips, but never thought for one minute I woudnt succeed. Well done again for getting back on.

I have lost 4lbs this week. I am looking at my 8 stone in 2 weeks. It won't be long until my ticker ' left to lose' bit will start with a 2. That will be weird, cos in my head when I see other peoples tickers like that I think 'that's not alot' but when I look at myself, it seems different somehow. I'm just taking every half a stone at a time, and I have 5 more of them to hit. Not far now!!!!

Sorry you've had a bad week. I too have 'lapsed' again and weighed in with 6lb damage

However, i have 'built a bridge over it' and as from last night am back on the wagon. A girl at my work is on LL too so we are being strong together and getting back in the swing of it. I have been mucking around for too long

Love this forum, lots of support :)

Well done getting your heads in the right space ladies. This certainly isn't an easy diet to follow. I feel mentally whacked by it. For the first time I pushed a boundary last weekend and boy am I paying for it - I drank diet coke on Saturday night figuring it wouldn't kill me and was far better than drinking the wine I would have preferred. Well, it suddenly dawned on me yesterday that that may explain my crappy week weight loss wise - so I got some ketostix and sure enough I have been out of Ketosis! Must have been the citric acid. Also explains a whacking headache on Sunday and Monday which I had put down to TOTM. So I have reverted to the LL packs I had left as they contain less carbs than exante - I miss my bar :( but I am still hovering in and out of ketosis - 5 days after drinking the coke - go figure. I am so miffed about it - part of me thinks I should have had a proper blow out instead of just having 2 cans of diet coke! At least then getting out of ketosis might have felt worth it! Can't believe it is taking so long to get back in. Oh well, sorry to moan, just feels so unfair - even my OH is feeling sorry for me lol!

I am just going to buckle down, stop pushing boundaries and hope for a fab loss next week.

Good luck to you all too.

xxxxxx

I think you are being a tad hard on yourself peony!!! out of 7 1/2 months, u have had 2 diet cokes!!!! Put it into perspective!!

R you sure its not the exante that has pushed you out of ketosis? i really dont know if diet coke would do that, especially 5 days after.

You didnt mention it was you TOTM when u posted about your 1lb weight gain!! Im thinking, next monday (or whenever it is you weigh :p) you will have another big loss.

Well Done to you!!!! you have done brilliantly.....keep your chin up, and it wont be long before you are target)!!

Cheers hon - you are right, I need to put it into perspective - I am thinking that I must be quite sensitive to the citric acid as I don't think I have been out of ketosis with exante by itself - although I do have a bar a day- have worked out that on Exante I have 60g carbs per day and on LL with the varieties I used to choose I had 52g carbs per day. To be honest both are much higher than I think Atkins folk have.

Oh well, a couple of days just on LL shakes brings the carbs below 48 which will hopefully bring me properly back into ketosis. To be fair I am really confusing myself as I am not hungry and am really making an effort to have over 4 litres of water so it may just be that the old ketostix aren't going very dark because of that. When I first started LL I used to have stronger readings is all.

Sorry I am obsessing - I know!

Re TOTM - Bizarrely it doesn't usually seem to have much impact weight wise - I weighed a pound less day 1 and 2 than I did days 4 and 5 this month, I think I am abnormal and retain water at the end of TOTM!

Thanks for listening to me going on - I am even boring myself lol!

xxxx

U r not boring me!!! To be honest, I stopped using ketostix at the beggining of the diet because in the 1st 3 weeks I was completely abstenant and never ever got a Reading!!

If u follow the plan, which I know u will, I don't think u need to worry. If u r not hungry and u r starting to lose weight, then I wouldn't worry too much about it!!! (unless it gives u something to focus on, then crack on) xxx

I'm feeling really bummed out today :-(
