DOING SW FROM HOME???

Does anyone know the syn value for Cadbury bubble mint chocolate please? I just ate a whole 90g bar, whoops :-(

If you've still got the wrapper just count 1 syn per 20 calories! That'll give you the syn value of it! :)

Hiya, i often have that problem too and asked about it a few days ago. The advice was to try and have the 10 syns if you possibly can ( maybe by incorporating them into your meals? ) as the diet does work on the synergy of all the components together. But if you get to the end of the day and you really can't face it then don't force yourself as you are supposed to enjoy the diet. I usually end up each day with syns left to enjoy a hot chocolate before bed and consider it my treat for being good :)

Actually, having said the above, it's happened to me again. I've only had 1/2 a syn today and really couldn't face anything else to eat. I'll probably have an options before bed, the orange one at 1 1/2 syns. I don't drink alcohol other than lager and don't have any of that in anyway. What i'd really love to know is... If you don't have your syns or your full syn allowance does it actually slow your weight loss down at all? I really hate eating just for the sake of it but i'll do it if it means my weight loss will be comprimised!

It's 28.5 syns for the whole 90g bar! Just checked syns online!

Not entirely sure, but I think when weight loss does slow down naturally that's the first thing they tell you to drop a bit to help kick start it a bit again!

A lot of people I know lost quite slowly as they thought cutting back on SYNS would help them lose faster, but then had a choc bar (most a curly wurly) and started to lose much faster. Weird but our bodies need the bad fats too, just in moderation! Little things like adding pine nuts to salads will help, or some avocado if u don't want choc etc. SYNS don't have to mean bad stuff or booze all the time. Using creme fraiche in cooking instead of ff stuff. Things like that, I have no Idea how people have no SYNS, I've always struggled to stay within. Greedy guts meeee x

Glad you liked it. It was my first time making them as well. I was greedy and ate both - had breakfast and those pasties (very filling they were)

Cooked scouse to take to work tomorrow - made my own pickled cabbage. Will post a picture tomorrow evening.

Have a fab day tomorrow. I can't wait to go back to work as I am bored at home

I really don't think I have any fear of not using syns! I like my once a week flexi day too :)

Done my first we day today, all recorded, and I've actually only used 7 syns today, I do keep thinking about the mini boxes of smarties that are in the cupboard for the kids.... Think they're only 3....

Thanks girls. I'm just one of those people that has a very poor appetite, i've always been like that. I can go days without food and never get hungry but the OH is constantly nagging at me to eat. I got to be 4 stone overweight cos i ate so much rubbish! And i used to drink lager a LOT! Lol. I'm hoping cutting it down so much will start to show a difference. I think also i'm a "all or nothing" kind of person, i really admire those that can have just a bit of chocolate, i know if i started on chocolate i'd probably binge. My relationship with food has grown to be pretty pants :-( That's why i think SW is such a good diet, it re- educates you to have good eating habits...hopefully for life! X

It does slow down your loss if you dont have your syns i think. My friend who goes to a SW class used to have a glass of wine every night and binged on choc and went out and got drunk on a weekend. Since new year shes cut out alcohol and choc altogether and hasnt touched any since then but has STS since then too even though shes been eating really well. Her consultant said its because her body is used to having some syns from the wine and choc and cutting it out altogether puts the body into a kind of starvation mode and hangs onto body fat to keep you going. Like charl said your body does need some fat. If you dont fancy having a treat at the end of the day maybe cook some meals with oil (1 syn per tbsp) or have some extra bread or cheese and syn what you go over your HEXs. Thats the advice the consultant gave her

Thank you Chloe xx Aren't our bodies weird!

It really does, I think of all the diets it's def more like a plan you just do for life, after a year of this I just kinda automatically add SYNS up and food optimise, it's totally ingrained now. It's good for the kids too. Even when I'm off plan I still do it (which is a little annoying sometimes!) It is quite easy to go portion crazy though, which was my massive fail until I did a vlcd last year, I learnt some lessons about myself and eating from that and thankfully am still controlled, as that's where I went wrong for a long time. I might have a bad month or so and kinda maintain or gain a few lbs but I will never get to where I was last year again. If I'm honest I must have been seriously over eating to get there as I'm fairly active too. Awful! X

Raven, I have a friend like that. Once he saw that I have lost a lot of weight and his coleagues were going to SW classes. he decided to join an dlost a stone. His problem is not food but Red wine. He eats one meal a day but in between has fancy coffees. Now he allowas himself 2 bottles at weekends and nothing during the week - that is all his syns really and coffees and he has managed to maintain the loss.

Your body needs to have a balance and syns are there to provide the balance. Why don't you try building them in your meals. Like Charl says instead of low fat stuff have the full fat version and that way your syns are built into your meals.

When i first started hardly had any syns and realised I was not losing so I started using them. Now if my losses are slow then I lower them for a few days.

It won't compromise your loss at all, I've had weeks of hardly any syns with good losses BUT you probably won't keep it up and then you may need a binge! Little and often syns are far better than a huge binge! But mainly, syns are really supposed to be used. The nearer you get to target, your loss with slow down which is when you then lower the number of syns you have. So if you're hardly eating any, it'll be really difficult. Syns are best eaten in the long run! However, if you're not hungry, don't eat for the sake of it. Treat yourself tomorrow with butter on toast or oil instead of frylight, a bit of mayo with salad or ketchup with sw chips. There are ways of eating syns without it being chocolate!

Charl, what's a vlcd? I think exercise ( or lack of it! ) hasn't helped me. I used to walk loads when my kids were young as i don't drive but since they've grown up and are living miles away with my ex hubby anyway i became a right couch potato! I'm glad you learnt about your eating habits and it was beneficial to you. I think sometimes we need to stop kidding ourselves and realise what exactly we're doing to our bodies xx

Sorry we have all bombarded you with our opinions. That goes to show how much we love our syns. Also not want any of our friends on here make the same mistakes as we have made (me).
