Drinking the new 2.5L Max

I thought i would start this as there has been much talk and confusion about the water limit, people starting out and even those carrying on are finding the 4L of water a day hard.

Right, my point. In the booklet that we have for recording our weight loss LL instructs us to drink till we are comfortable they say 1.5 - 2.5L a day should be consumed and even include the water in the shakes as part of that(something not counted in the past)

So for those struggling just be aware that it has been relaxed and you can officailly cut back.

would be good to hear from those that have starting reducing the water to that level. Have you still experienced the same amount of weight loss? It would be good to hear from you

What do I drink on the LighterLife Programme?

Hey James, well done firstly, it will be good to hear the progress on your weight :) it will help ease the minds of some of us skeptics on here *me*

H, I drank about 3 litres a day at first, plus my shakes/coffees/hot drinks made with water flavouring.

I have to say that I've been very 'blocked up' this last few weeks when I've probably been drinking less than I should and I'm going to make a conscious effort to increase this again as constipation is not good!!

I've always drunk around the 3ltr mark each day, not including shakes, and my weightloss has varied from 8lbs a week to 3lbs a week.

So from my experience I can't say that the water is the sole factor in how much you lose, it's all a combination of how active you are, how much you have to lose, and how much you drink.

Interesting idea, now I've had 3weeks of losing 3lbs on 3ltrs, next week (Saturday 17th to Friday 23rd) I'll up my intake to around 4/4.5ltrs each day (safely!) and see if there is a difference on my WI on the 23rd! :)

Ooooh, 'Scientific Pete' is doing an experiment!! Can't wait for the results Pete, will be interesting!

lmao, I didn't even think of it in that way Poppy!
I've decided that I'm going to step it up and do it this week instead, I've already had a little over 3ltrs yesterday and am well into my 3rd already today so getting another 1ltr in won't be a problem, so we'll find out on Friday night if it's made a difference!

I now rarely get to 3l - and this weekend I've had less than a litre (that's across both days) I'm just not thirsty and I'm tired of drinking water. I drink more at work, so I make do with having 4 or 5 good days a a week and if I lose 1lb a week less every week I'll have to learn to live with that because I hate and resent the water. I occasionally use the flavoured powder but I am convinced that did cause me lower losses (until 2 weeks ago, the 4 weeks I used it were my 4 lowest losses).

Drinking Water

Great effort on the amounts of water being drunk here!
I recall of a friend of mine who drank 5+ litres of water, and used to just volley it down his neck.
As a result his bladder seemed to stretch out and he learned that it was better to drink the water through a straw to ensure gradual hydration and no pesky stretching of the bladder.
Just a thought

Water guidelines changed

The amount of water LL recommends changed half waythrough abstinence for me.It was 4litres as well as the packs although tea and coffee counted towards the 4ltrs.
When the amount was reduced I eased up on the water for a couple of weeks and those were my lowest weight loss weeks.
However, constipation has been a problem for a lot of people and for those 2 weeks I had it too.
I found out purely by chance that the water flavourings helped in that department, but not if I used them little and often. So I did an experiment too Pete.
I used the water flavourings in 2 goes per week.
Half a tub in my water throughout the mid week day between WI.
the other half in my water through the day before my WI which was 6pm Mondays.
Then, no problems in the toilet department and no laxatives required.
I didn't drink anything after about 3pm on WI day.
Not scientific I know, but that;s what worked for me.
Now - RTM - whole new ball game. I'm working it out.................!!!!

interesting SB that was my guess, this is why i have not let up on my water intake yet. Still the LLC insists and says you dont need to. You know something just occured to me, why are all LLC's women??

I know they all aren't (I'm sure there's someone on here who has a male LLC) but the majority are.

Interesting question though, I guess it's a traditional male/female role thing coming into play. Especially as it seems to be more women who are on diets - I suppose you can use the proportions of the male/female members on here as an indication!

As for the water intake, I had taken a Dulcolax last night as I said on another thread. It definitely worked (ahem!) but this evening I have felt SO weird and like I could have collapsed!

I drank my usual amount, which hasn't been a lot this past few weeks, probably only about 1.5 litres a day, plus coffee/shakes, and then had a bath, sorted my wardrobe out to take away the clothes that are too big (AGAIN! YAY!) and whilst I was doing this at about 6pm I felt the most tremendous hunger. I mean not just hungry but at one point I thought that I was going to have to actually eat something because I felt so strange.

I managed to get the baby to bed and have just sat down and had my soup, black coffee, and about a pint of water and am starting to feel a bit better, but I suspect that it was that I needed more water after the Dulcolax episode. I must have been dehydrated and that is why I was feeling so painfully hungry!! It's the only thing that I can think of.

Just one more reason not to ease up too much if you can face the water!

Business opportunity

There you are Huseyin,
A business opportunity. You are right. There are very few male LLCs or men specialising in this area at all.
I think it's Mike Scott who's recently taken it up.
BUT as LL is a franchise business and many men find it hard to address emotional issues some of them might find it easier with a man LLC. Perhaps you could sub-contract the men's groups from some of the female LLCs, sort of like a ROVING locum, if you paid the fee and did the training.
Just a thought. What do you think WG?
Oh no, brain's starting to work. Must be RTM that's doing it.

I agree SB, that the option of being a locum to take the mens groups is a good one. I suppose it depends on the LLC I suppose and how the fees would work etc. It is definately a good business opportunity but the outlay and financial commitment is quite a lot.

My LLC is a guy, he is also a trained counsellor which is his day job.

One reason might be that most men wouldn't particularly be bothered about talking to a female LLC about their weightloss, but a lot of women might not be comfortable talking to a male LLC?

Just a thought, doesn't mean it's true of course!

I can drink about 2.5l a day, but 4l seems almost impossible!! I guess it we shall just keep on going lol! :)

I've got a 3/4ltr bottle at work, drinking 1 of them every two hours doesn't seem like much at all, yet that makes 3ltrs during my 8-hour workday, plus the 1.5ltr bottle I drink between 6pm and 11/11pm each night, easily make 4.5ltrs in a day, plus the shakes.

If you spread it out, it doesn't seem bad at all :)
