Hi i am starting the Dukan diet tomorow and wanted to know what the rules are etc ?? would be really grateful for a detailed answer as not getting the book till fridayy duee to being so skint :| lol !! i tried the atkins but didnt do well on the high fat i think soo am trying this one :) fingers crossed !!

if you have a look on the board it will say what you need
You must get oatbran as you have to have this everyday without fail
you will start off in attack ( its worth going on the dukan site and getting your true weight and regime of time needed on each stage , that bits free they ask you to sign up for coaching but you dont need to )
attack is first usually 3 to 5 days
thats basic protien (eggs beef chicken fish shellfish ) , yogurts, oatbran.
when you go on to cruise you have days with veg and days without
drink 2 litres of water a day.
20 mins walk a day
there is more and the allowed food lists are on here im sure someone else will post more

Hi hopefully I'm not too late - WAIT till you've got the book in your hands and THINK ABOUT/PLAN carefully when to start. For example you may prefer to do attack over the weekend, or maybe during the week and then get to cruise by the next weekend so you can have some Veg when socialising. One day more or less will not make a difference but you really need to start well prepared and with a good supply of protein foods and oatbran at home!
Also if you have anything in your social calendars, plan around that, eating out gets quite tricky if you wish to stick with the diet and not come out of Ketosis.

Hi, saintsarah. I have to agree with Anja. It's a diet which works best when you're fully prepared for it, I think. Definitely best to make sure that you have enough Dukan-friendly food supplies at home so that you can stay in ketosis during the Attack period and gain the full benefit of the diet. Being in ketosis (and eating enough protein) will prevent you from feeling hungry and help you to not give in to temptation.
