Is it worth doing toning exercises, weights, sit-ups etc when you have so much excess flab or am I better to stick to cardio until I get to a more acceptable weight? X
I do toning exercises, and I'm in the 16s at the moment. I lift weights 3x a week. I've lost a lot more (and lost it more steadily) doing that compared to when I was just doing cardio. I'd say do it now! No sense in putting it off. Just listen to your body and don't overdo it. xx

There is a great workout to do called 30 day shred. I think level 1 is on youtube for free. That's a 25min work out. Warm up/cool down. The 3 lots of 321. 3mins toning, 2 mins cardio, 1 min abs.
I too am starting close to the 16 stone mark. I out on 3.5 in pregnancy.
I'm planning on doing the 30 day shred followed by Ripped in 30. Both Jillian Michaels DVDs. After those I might try her body revolution program. The advantage to these DVDs is that they are only 30 minutes a day, which I'm hoping I'll be able to squeeze in with a 6 week old!
I have Turbo fire and Chalean Extreme but think I need to loose some bulk before starting in those.
Weight training exercises burns more calories than cardio.. I would do hours of cardio (hours is extreme ha) and noticed my shape not changing much at all, once I started doing weight training I started getting the shape I wanted and toned you all over.

Yes you want to try a routine with high intensity interval training, with will raise your metabolism so you will continue to burn fat after you leave the gym.
