Extra Easy SP Extra Easy SP Plan

I made a lovely soup today and just threw together what S and P foods I had in and hoped for the best lol. Here it is :)

Syn Free Mushroom Soup

This is a very tasty recipe despite how it looks as I know mushrooms aren't the best looking food out there lol. This recipe is syn free & would also make a good Extra Easy SP meal due to the Speed & Protein foods in the ingredients.

The recipe serves 2 big portions or 4 small portions

Ingredients:
650g of mushrooms (S), I used a big cheap pack from Asda, chopped.
1 onion (S), chopped.
A small handful of red lentils (P).
Garlic granules.
900ml of Chicken or vegetable stock.
A few tablespoons of Quark (P).
Salt & pepper to taste.

Method:
Place everything apart from the Quark into a large saucepan & add the stock.
Stir it well & add plenty of salt & pepper to taste & a good sprinkle of the garlic granules. Simmer on a medium heat for around 20-30 minutes or until soft.
Once cooked remove from the heat & stir in 3-4 spoonfuls of Quark. Blitz the soup well until it is nice & smooth.
I served mine with some Quark mixed with abit of water & piped it onto the top of the soup with a little sprinkle of Oregano.

but potatoes, for example, don't have a syn value as they are free. You can have then as an optional free food, but this defeats the object of SP.

I honestly think if you want carbs, then don't do SP, just stick to EE.

I agree with you there. Although it says potatoes/pasta/rice etc are still FREE and you can have them on the odd occasion on SP it still defeats the object of following SP which is the weight loss boost plan & they want you to go without them lol. So far I have managed to do all my SP days without any of these foods because I want a boost. On the days when I want these foods I will just do a standard EE day. xxx

Syns are carbs unless you're having oil or fats as carbs are just sugars so wine chocolates biscuits cakes are carbs

I've looked on the q&a section of the EE SP plan article and it has been emphasised over and over again you can choose to use your 5-15 syns on whatever you want

15 syns is only 300 calories so the amount of carbs will still be limited especially considering you'd have your big bowl of rice pasta potatoes plus 15 syns on a normal EE day

So if something is already synned like the potato products then surely that can come out of your syn allowance ?

I agree the plan isn't precise or clear and it should really a straight 1 syn per 20 calorie rule for all food not listed with a P or S as that would be clearer

How can a bar of chocolate be ok but not a potato product or synned yoghurt ?

I'm with SlimmingKitchen on this one - I'm planning in SP days and consciously not having additional free food on those days. I have literally eaten S, P, my healthy extras and syns (I've syned a tin of WW tuna and an Alpro dessert). I've also realised that for me, I probably won't look to do SP a week at a time. I think I'd prefer to mix it up and have occasional SP days during the week.

How can you syn a potato when it's a free food?????

You can't do this. That's not part of the plan. A potato is free, you can't give it a syn value based on its calories.

So sorry your thread has been hijacked hun, I'm bowing out now.

That's tweaking it. I'm saying no more.

The rules are in the book.

Lets let Stacey get back to what her thread was for. Xx

Shall be doing this. I love mushroom soup.

Many thanks xx

I never mentioned normal potato I mentioned potato products like curly fries which are synned
I assume you are still having your normal 15 syns as well slimming kitchen ??

In which case what are you using your syns on

The lines are so blurred and I've been a member 3.5 years a target member for 1.5 years and a diamond member and I don't get it

I also mainly follow green as I don't eat so what I thought was EE SP the other day wasn't as I had
2 Linda McCartney free sausages
Butter bean and spinach mash - made using butter beans spinach and synned oil
Leek and cabbage with synned gravy

But because of the sausages even though they're made with soya they aren't part of the plan neither are quorn sausages but quorn pieces are

I was only trying to follow and understand it so I can have a post New Years boost

I made mushroom soup for my SP lunches this week! Although mine's very green, because I added a lot of spinach! It changes the texture a bit, but I also added butter beans to mine for a P boost. Tasty and filling; although I can't say it looks too appetizing. When I was heating up my lunch at work, the girl next to me said "ah yes, green and sludgy... must be healthy."

Jaffa how did you make your butter bean mash? I'd love to give that a go.

My husband made it and it was a SW friendly version of this using fry light frozen spinach and 2 tins of butter beans for 2 people

He used a teaspoon of oil and a teaspoon of bertolli light at the end but it was still quite heavy so next time he might put in some quark or fat free greek yoghurt or a proper tablespoon of oil - synned
