Felix's new to SW diary!

It's such a great diet if you're focused and can stick to it. I have always done the 'soul source plus' plan where you have 3 meal replacements a day and then a carb free meal in the evening (chicken and veg etc.) I found that I can get very creative in thinking of interesting meals with the food you're allowed to eat! I couldn't cope with completely replacing meals and not eating at all, I'd go mental. The price depends on your consultant. I got very lucky and found a very lovely lady who knows what she's on about and is very supportive, and she only charges £35 a week which is cheap for CD. The average weight loss is a stone a month which is brilliant if you can stick to it! I found it extremely easy the first time round, but it gets harder each time you restart. I think because I've set myself a goal which is only a stone and half away, I will find it easier this time. Getting down to my ultimate goal seems impossible if I think of it as one big chunk!

So it's not one of those where you pay for shakes and bars and the like?

I'm enjoying SW but after a few bad weeks I've found myself mooching about the forum. If I don't lose a decent amount this week I'll have a right nark on.

Well my CD woman charges a set price for any 21 products a week, but most consultants will charge more for bars and the pre-made shakes in a carton. You can get powder shakes, soups (sort of like cup a soup consistency), loads of different bars, pre made carton shakes (I always get 21 chocolate pre made shakes, they are very nice), porridge and they just started doing ready meals for the higher plans. If you do want to give it a try, I would totally recommend it. There's a couple of people on the SW board who came from doing CD and did very well!

Haha yes in about a week or so! OH is joining me too so will be easier with both of us on it. I have my nephews christening on the 1st April and want to wear a lovely cream dress which I wore for OH's graduation, but it's too small at the moment :(

Today's menu -

Breakfast - 2x weetabix with skimmed milk and milky coffee

Snack - strawberries and blueberries, and a banana a bit later on

Lunch - mugshot, yoghurt, Pom bear crisps (4 syns) and a plum

Not sure what to have for tea. Currently baking banana and chocolate chip cake to take to work tomorrow. I'd hate to think how many syns are in it!!! Then going to dye my hair. Getting some new hair extensions on Friday, so my hair needs dyeing as its faded loads!

Not meaning to sound rude but if you are only going to use one flavour of shake would you not be loads cheaper just buying some protein powder? Sorry if I've misunderstood as I have never done any kind of VLCD but aren't that essentially what all the meal replacement shakes in such diets are, some cleverly marketed little individual portions of protein shake? Just asking out of interest really, would be interested in knowing if they are infact substantially different as I would never be able to do it long term but heard it's successful for losing a decent amount of weight in a short time if you have an event on for example. Would be interested in knowing for that kind of purpose. X

Ah I have always thought that actually! The only thing about the CD shakes is that they have all the vitamins and nutrients you need for the day in them, so don't know exactly how good for me it would be to just have protein shakes. I think that's the only difference. I think if you were good at taking extra vitamins etc it could work.

Again probably just marketing lol a multivitamin would sort you out I'm sure! Cool thanks for answering like I say was just interested. Went and had a look at my tub of protein powder and it's only 125 calories a serving and that isn't any specialised diet protein or anything. Never used it as a meal replacement it was for using after crossfit training which was pretty hardcore exercise that we would do one hour a week as part of my rollerderby training, I am fairly unfit so would hurt a lot the next few days but protein shakes help to repair the muscle plus as a veggie helped me get more protein in me. So 3 of them plus a healthy meal you would be looking at very low calories for the day and would of course lose a significant amount of weight. So yeh maybe something to look into, maybe you can have money for clothes AND lose weight fast lol X

Rollerderby?! That is AWESOME. How did you get in to doing that?? I am so jealous!! I think I might look in to the protein thing. I think the thing that would keep me focussed with CD is having my consultant coming round the weigh me and give me support. She is fabulous and has advice for anything related to the diet (and also anything unrelated when we get chatting haha). It is a very good point money saving wise though!

Had heard of the local team years ago and thought it sounded so cool but didn't do anything about it, rather corny but went to see Whip It at the cinema and decided to put my name down for the next newbie intake. There's leagues all over the place you are bound to have one (or a few near you) should pop along and watch a game sometime it's amazing! :) Did love it but sadly broke my ankle at start of December, shattered it pretty badly through both sides so had to get pins & plates put in, still got problems with the tendons and such so I'm still off work with it :( Hopefully get back into it eventually as it is the only time I have enjoyed exercise and the community spirit is just incredible.

Protein wise I think the stuff I used worked out around about 50p a serving but I only bought 1kg tubs it'll be much cheaper in bulk as far as I know. There's also a really awesome shaker I would recommend if you decide to go down that route give me a shout and I'll look it up for you. Would be a massive saving especially if there's 2 of you doing it.

X

Happy Monday! Just got back from work and weighed in. STS this week :( at least it's not a gain though! I would have been gutted!

I have been thinking about it (and I know people will try and talk me out of it!) but once I've eaten through my food which I have left, me and OH are going to go back on CD for a few weeks. I am only going to do it until I'm down to 12 and a half stone then come straight back to SW. The reason for this is because I have literally about 3 tops, 2 dresses, one pair of works trousers and some jeans (which are very tight) that fit me in my wardrobe and everything else fit perfect at 12 and a half stone. I think it will take me about a month and half to do on CD, and it would take much longer on SW. If I had the money to go and buy some new stuff to tide me over, I would stick with SW! I think I have about a week left on SW but I'll be back in no time (literally no time if I fail haha). I will keep posting on everyone's diaries when I make the switch though :) if you think about it, 6 weeks will fly by..

Anything not up is a win hunni. How much is it to take you to 12.5 stone. Only thing to watch is obviously that you'll likely get a gain when you come back off if you don't work up the steps etc properly. I worked up for about six weeks (loosely on plan) and gained 12lb my first week on sw. I can see why you're thinking of doing it and understand and won't try and talk you out of it. Just think it through xxx

Ditto to that! CD is a sod, it's always on my mind! I'm definitely saving it for after kids tho hahaha! I know I couldn't do it now, I can't even do bloody slimming world at the mo; I need to sort it out! Please don't leave us tho xxx

I think when I restart SW I will do mainly red days and try not to have too many carbs and work my way up from there. I've always been ok when I've come off CD and only gain 3-4lb when I go back to eating normally. I don't get massive losses in my first week either so I don't think I hold a lot of water or whatever it is that carbs make you hold on to! Sorry not very technical haha. I am 14.1 and a half at the mo, so just over a stone and half should get me there. It won't take me long on CD, and it will take me up to the warmer weather so I can enjoy SW friendly BBQ's. I've been thinking about it since last week and OH has been too, but he didn't want to do it without me. And I won't be leaving you! Don't think I'll start a CD diary so I'll lurk on everyone else's haha...

Sorry to go back to this but a woman I used to work with insisted she lost weight doing the cambridge but saved money using slim-a-soup instead of their branded ones! I never believed her but now I do!!

Lolly, GRG encouraged the use of protein shakes?? No one at either RCRG or LRB ever took fitness that seriously, haha. Although they might do now....I hear time have changed!!

Yeh a cups soup probably does the exact same thing you just lose weight coz you are basically starving yourself! Let's make some sort of business plan you got the skills Jez!

Haha the crossfit thing is a pretty recent development, people are really taking derby a lot more seriously now and doing lots of off skates training to become total machines so we incorporate an hour of hardcore exercise onto one of our sessions now. I only did protein shakes to help with the muscle repair coz the first few times I did it I couldnt walk properly for days! :-( it involved billions of squats and burpees and other such torture! X
