So this is my first ever VLCD, in fact, it's my first ever diet. Having absolutely no will power or culinary skills I decided to take the easy option.

I've started my own diary but decided to share it with anyone else who wants to read it. Hopefully it will keep me motivated and maybe even give someone else the insipration that reading a few of these blogs gave me.

When I finally bit the bullet and weighed myself my eyes nearly popped out of my head! 14st7lbs, should have been prepared seeing as I have bulges popping out everywhere else.

I did a bit of research and came across Slim and Save. I ordered the 4 item, 28 day diet.

Day One I did really well. Stuck to drinking loads of water and green tea along with 2 shakes, a bar and the mushroom pasta with 100g of brocolli. The shakes for me are quite hard to drink, they taste nice enough but the slimy feeling they leave behind isn't very pleasing, hopefully I'll get used to this because I'm planning on living on 2 a day until the end of time (well, until I'm my goal weight at least). The mushroom pasta was lush, glad I was able to eat it along with veg because otherwise I may have dialled for a takeaway on the first day, the portions are small but I'm never going to get slim eating huge portions am I? Finally I had a lemon and white chocolate bar. Safe to say I won't be ordering them again.

So day one was over... I survived and didn't give up! I can't help keep wanting to weigh myself though, really should hide the scales until weigh in day.

Day two (today) is going well again, I don't feel as hungry today and find keeping myself preoccupied writing in my own personal diary and now on here will keep me from reaching for a bag of crisps. The macaroni cheese tasted good and kept me fuller for longer. Had the dark choc and coconut bar for desert which was lush.

It's my birthday in December and I'm hoping to have photos that I am not ashamed of this time round. I doubt I will have reached my goal weight of 9st7lbs by then but I'm hoping I'll at least be well on my way.

Well that's enough from today, I'm off to make my final shake, the Hazelnut one is supposed to taste quite nice so I may try that one. I'll let you know what I think tomorrow...

sounds like your in a lovely positive frame of mind hun and thats half the battle!
we have totaly different tastes , I could live on those lemon choc bars and I would rather starve than have a shake lol
Iv just come back from holidays (where I was a complete semi alcoholic pig hehe) so its the end of day 4 for me and Im feeling a bit more energetic today , guessing its ketosis kicked in.
I did the slim and save for months before I went and dropped 4 stone and felt so fabulous which Im sure you will too as the lbs start falling off..you would be suprised how much you could lose by your birthday...bet you could be realy close to goal ya know:)
best of luck with your journey

We are all different, I like my shakes hot with a spoonful of a great coffee!
I also like all the bars, I chop them up into little bits to make them last a bit longer..

    Welcome and good luck!

I love all the shakes, hazelnut was lovely, and so far love all the bars chopped into tiny pieces and soooked slowly.

Only been brave enough to try 2 of the meals and though they were nice enough am not really sure about them lol

I'm struggling with the shakes at the minute, think I'm just getting used to them. I think when I order my next lot I'll have 2 meals instead of 2 shakes!! You've done amazing to lose so much!! Hopefully I'll be my goal weight by then, but then I'll have to survive through Xmas without pigging out to make sure I don't go straight back to square 1!

I've had the cafe latte with a spoon of coffee in this morning! Makes it taste so much better!! Have you just been heating them up in the microwave then? I read somewhere about someone making the red fruits into a sort of sorbet so I may try that as well!!

Well I wasn't expecting replies so soon! It's great having so many people on here who know exactly what you're going through and you are all so lovely with your messages of support. The person who came up with this website deserves a medal! What a great idea.

Well it's day 3, started the day with a green tea and a cafe latte shake. Didn't taste much like coffee so took some advice from here and added a spoon of coffee which made it taste just like a frappe, mmm!! First shake I have managed to get down without pulling a face! The hazelnut one didn't really do it for me, I couldn't drink it all!

I don't think I'm in ketosis yet because I'm already thinking about what meal I'm going to decide to have. I really love the meals so far, but then again I have only had two!

I know I shouldn't but I weighed myself this morning and have already lost 3lbs!! Which means I'm almost a full stone lighter than I was 6 months ago!! And that was without dieting! Woop!!

I'm really hoping that I will be my goal weight for my birthday, I'm planning on starting running to help shift the pounds that bit quicker!! I've found the most amazing dress that I want to wear but only if I'm slim enough. Would you guys suggest buying a 12? I'm an 18 at the moment :/ (I'm 21 by the way)

Here's a link anyway tell me what you think - Aqua | Aqua Floyd Dress Structured Skater with Metal Section Belt at ASOS

It's my friends birthday night out tomorrow and I don't want to break the diet. I'm going to try and limit myself to 4 drinks, vodka and diet coke will be ok won't it? Should save me some money and a hangover at least. I'll let you know how I get on either way!!

    xx

Welcome to S&S & the forums and best of luck with it all.

I like my shakes hot, for breakfast I have either the cafe latte or hazlenut, I make mine up with just off the boil water and add an espresso from my coffee machine - yummy. I also like the toffee, vanilla & caramel shakes done this way as I'm not so keen on cold shakes, especially now the weather's turned cold and I'm always freezing from ketosis. LOVE lemon & white choc bar, it's far & away my favourite, I think if I could I'd happily get by on 4 of those a day LOL, it's funny how we all like different things.

Thanks Jan, I didn't even think about just boiling the water haha. I would have ended up melting my shaker in the microwave!! I thought I would love the lemon bar, so I ordered loads of them! At least I know now for next time!!

well done on reaching day 3!
the official line is you shouldnt drink while in ketosis...... but a couple of times when Iv been out Iv had voddy and diet coke and been fine..only thing is with alcohol it disolves your will power and suddenly a kebab on the way home seems a good idea lol
The dress ...hmm well I think personaly I would hang fire and see what size you are ...I know some ppl like to have the smaller dress hanging up for motivation but I had a wedding to attend 14 weeks after starting (I was size 24/26) ordered an 18 thinking it would never fit and come the wedding it was too big and had to buy another one!
Clothes shopping is so much nicer as your weight drops too.
Running is a fab idea to help melt the pounds but maybe dont start till you are 2/3 weeks into the plan cos it realy does wipe you out with the low calories were consuming....on days that I exersise I always have extra protein too.

Thanks MoJo! Apparently the first 3 days are the hardest right? I can't believe that I'm so stuffed off so little food.

Luckily I never eat after a night out and find it really hard to eat on a hangover so fingers crossed I'll be fine!! With the dress I'm just worried it will sell out, I'd be gutted if it did and then I couldn't find one I liked as much. I just have this image in my head of what I want to look like and can't stop thinking about the dress!! I wish I could post a link so I could show you.

I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks until I start excersising, anything to keep me out of it!! But I'll definitely make sure I have extra protein when I do.

Thanks so much for your advice and well done on your amazing weight loss!!

I would say get some goal jeans cheap for your motivation and get a dress near the time. All the gorgeous Xmas stock be out, and you maybe find a 12 be too big even!!

    Good luck hun xxx

If you love the dress then buy it. I did that as I went through and ended up with a wardrobe of clothes which I love! It really motivated me to have something I really liked in the next size down. I went from a 24/26 to a size 10 so it's all perfectly possible.

Hopefully I'll have to buy some jeans Rebekah when the inches start coming off haha.

I think I'm gonna buy it Weasy! It's £115 so it should keep me motivated to get into it!! Your weight loss is amazing!! How long were you on a VLCD for? Hopefully I'll be in a size 10 soon enough!!

Ta! It took me 10.5 months to lose 130 lbs. For the first 6 months I was on 4 packs a day, no veg, no milk. For the last 4.5 months I stepped up the calories to 800 a day and had 3 packs and a protein meal.

I don't think I would be able to do it with no veg. I am limiting myself to 100g of brocolli per day and I'm sticking to green tea, which before this diet I always thought I didn't like so thats a bonus. How are you finding maintaining? I'm worried when I reach my goal weight it wont last long and I'll be back to square one!

I learnt a valuable lesson today ladies... Wait for hot water to cool a bit before adding it to your shake and shaking. I poored it straight from the kettle, shook for about a second then, boom, the lid popped off and it went everywhere!! Clearly new to this aren't I? Haha.

The hot choc shake is lush hot!! I feel like I'm cheating and having a treat when it's all part of the diet!! Love it!!

One thing though, I seem to be smoking so much more do distract me :/
