OK. So, I am new to the site, and new to healthy living as well. Ive always been a tad to a fair bit overweight ( ranging from 20-65lbs) but for the first time in my life i feel its effects, and want to be a healthier me. Funds are limited as we have a wedding fast approaching and two kids to go along with our new mortgage, so I took a pass on enrolling in any costly programs, and decided instead to spend my weight loss budget on healthier grocerie for myself and my family, and the purchase of wii fit plus and Jenny McGarthy's Your Shape game :)

My eating habits previously were beyond terrible i have a horrible aversion to anything natural :p so needless to say this has been the journey already for me ( 5 weeks in )
Ive decided to start posting my food log to make me more aware of what im consuming and for the constructive critisism this site has to offer :)
Go easy on my friends, Im new all the way around.
( I was previously consumming like 3000 calories a day !!! so baby steps )


Day 1- april 22

Breakfast: 1cup Fibre1 cereal with 1cup 2% milk
8oz water

Lunch : 1 can of campbells light choice chicken noodle soup
1 bottle aquafina vitamin water ( with acai )

Snack: thinsations yogurt covered pretzels

Dinner: whole wheat pita filled with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, cubes of cheddar cheese, and chicken breast strips
250 ML of sunrype fruit and veggie juice

Snack: handful of wheathins crackers



This was actually a very successful day for me! The family is home on holidays I usually binge eat pretty bad in these times so Im pleased with myself :rolleyes:

I also did 25 minutes of hard cardio on Youshape and a half hr of excercising on the wii fit

I am showing a loss, although i feel its not a fiar reflection of the effort i put in ( although im sure almost everyone on this site feels that way for the most part :p ) When i started this mission weeks ago I was taking hydroxycut for a boost with my excercise, i quickly found out how useful dietary aids are LOL! but i do feel a little better, definitly less sluggish so im gonna ride it out. i would like to look decent in my wedding dress this fall

You seem to have a good mindset and notice where your weaknesses lie so my guess is you'll do well with healthy eating and, as pointed out above, will be a beautiful bride :).

thanks guys :) im giving it the old college try but i defintly lack some will power... as i write this i am eating a bowl of kraft dinner :S ( and yes my food diary will reflect so!) but i have not yet broken and eaten any of the pounds of easter chocolate in the house so wish me luck!

the hardest problem im having is my Tim hortons teas with three cream and three sugars... comes in at 410 calories.. i used to drink like 4 day! thats all im supposed to be consuming! :eek:

Oh my! Def need to wean yourself off those teas then! At least you're not drinking 4 a day anymore, right? :p

Food Diary - April 23

Breakfast : 1 cup Fibre1 cereal with 1 cup 2% milk
* XL tea from Tim hortons ( 3 cream 3 sufar of course :p)

Lunch: small bowl of Kraft Dinner and 2 slices of texas toast garlic bread with cheese ( horrible i know but i jsut was sooo hungry )
*80z water

Snack: mmm most delicious tootsie roll ever

Dinner : Sandwich.... whole wheat roll, chicken breast, 2 slices bacon, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and a dash of honey mustard


*** as you can all see today was a pretty sinful day for me. I ate almost everything that ive been trying to avert... however i still stayed around 1700 calories because i was careful with my serving sizes. thats still a few hundred more calories then ive been consuming lately... sinful but at least i showed some restraint, you will note that its not 12 tootsie rolls like the case would have been a few months back :)


I am also on day 4 of an acai berry cleanse, no magic fat burners or anything jsut a gentle cleanse. Im not finding much if any effect on my degestion, and i wouldnt say i feel overly cleansed:p but my energy has been good, i feel decent, and thats positive...

Today was also the first day I didnt work out at all. I had an active morning with my kids and some housework kept me moving so my guilt isnt overwhelming... but im hoping i dont regret it tonight or tomorrow when i throw myself on the scale for the first time in 5 days

Just weighed in for the week ! i couldnt be happier :) even fter yesterdays naughtiness i am down 1.2lbs !!! the first 5 are gone!!!!!!!!! i need to get me one of them lovely tickers all you ladies have... im stoked!

Wow today was long! and eventful! and full of upas and downs as far as food is concerned... but in the end i think i came out somewhat on top :) Slept in today till like 10:30 am.. unheard of and awesome. But that meant i skipped breakfast :S had a bottle of water and the urge to do some excercise so i did a half an hour on the wii fit (110 cal burned so they tell me) and managed thru 10 of fifteen minutes on the yourshape workout ( that thing kicks my ass! i would never survive the full 15 minutes, its taken me a week to get up to 10 :p)

Morning : thinsations pretzels , handful of wheatthins crackers

Lunch: ( this was our big holiday meal ) approx 8 oz of turkey breast, i large scoop of mashed potato both with a small bit of gravy and a scoop of corn .... note: i was super proud of myself for not touching the rolls. personal victory number 1 of the day LOL

then after lunch i fell of the wagon and hard. i had 5 whoppers, 3 choc covered pretzels ( they were homemade and amazing!) AND a chunk of choc covered sponge toffee!! ( also homemade:p)

after that binge i was full for the rest of the day so jsut had an orange and a yogurt for dinner. i feel over-full... like i ate ALOT of food today, yet its not NEAR what i would have eaten 2 months ago.. go figure.
Either way i would call today a success for such a delicious holiday :p and i was surprised to see when i adde dmy calories it wasnt as bad as i thought after all, although tomorrow i shall strive for a more disciplined mean plan!

sidenote: hope i didnt do my small loss for the week right in with my behaviour... may be experiencing some guilt now ..sweet chocolatey guilt :D

Ahhh another day done :) feeling pretty satisfied with myself. if my relationship with feed is a battle, im the victor today :p

Breakfast : stomache was a bit queasy this morning so no appetite at all .. breakfast consisted of an orange and a cigarette :S, washed it down with a bottle of water ( im getting better at getting that stuff into me)

mid morning snack : a bit of everything that wasnt nailed down.... few wheat thin crackers, a kiwi and 2 of those damn choc. covered pretzels

Lunch: chicken breast strips with lettuce tomato and caesar dressing in a whole wheat wrap , a small packet of sunchips.( i was excited to learn the whole package was only 200 calories! go sunchips!!)

Dinner : large slice of ham, 1/4 cup steamed broccoli with a teaspoon of cheese sauce , 1/2 cup of garlic mash, 1/4 cup of corn and 500 ML of 2% milk ( most satisfying part of the day)

ive been counting my calories to the best of my ability ( this sites awesome for info) .. when i added this up i was SHOCKED to learn how good i did :) ( i figured it out around 1540) i feel full, i had lots to eat, especially with dinner, and so far no snacking this evening! since im trying for around 1600 cal a day Monday is a :D day !

took it easier then norm on the excercising... jsut did 45 minutes on the wii plus today and went for a walk to jump in puddles with the kids ....

i am however running out of helathy foods that my fussy family and myself are willing to eat, we like the broccoli so we prolly have that 2 nights a week, same as corn. the only way they will eat lettuce is with caesar dressing so we do those quite often too... any tasty suggestions?

I'm quite a fan of mixed peppers, on the veg front. I love them with tuna in a wrap - very tasty!

see im such a fusspot. i dont et any sea food of any kind.. so there goes the tuna and i hate peppers :( i have found alot of fruits i didnt know i liked, such as pomegrante and mandarin oranges, kiwis that kind of thing... but im sooo limited because of years of natural food aversion :p

Aww! Guess you just need to keep trying things and experimenting til you find out what you like :). The main thing is being willing to try everything once - or even twice haha. I used to HATE eggs when I was younger but recently discovered I actually quite like scrambled egg nowadays. Taste buds changing with time I suppose...

yeah ur right... i conditioned myself to like the brocolli.. time to start on a new one i guess :p... and i <3 eggs... especially hard boiled

today was meh. my wii fet tells me im down another lb which is cool but ill wait for the official weighin thurday-ish. Im hungry today, and cranky i cant shove whatever i want in my mouth. I did not have ANY tim hortons tea today.. so thats awesome... but i wanted.. all day, even right now :(
according to the site ive been using to carefully track everything for me my calrie intake was about 1250... so i shouldnt be as food crazed as i am right now. (SIDENOTE: what should my net calorie count for the day be roughly to be losing weight? ive read so many different numbers)

anyway, here it is

Breakfast: whole wheat english muffin with egg patty, 1 slice of cooked ham and a half a slice of cheese (DEFICKINLICIOUS) and 2! bottles of water

Lunch: ****SINFUL ALERT*** finally had that bowl of Reese's Puff cereal ive been after, 1 cup of cereal 1 cup of milk :) with about 12 grapes

Snack: thinsations yogurt pretzels and a hot rod :S, with another bottle of water! ( getting better a tthat part)

Dinner: i.25 cup of cambells tomoato soup with a grilled turkey breast and cheese sandwhich

i never said i was good today, but watching portions really helps keep the calorie intake down even when ur choosing bad foods...

i put in about 25 minutes on the wii and a half our on Michael Jackson experience, weather was awesome walked honestl prolly almost 5km so ill take the good with the bad

ok ive stopped tracking my food on here because im using a different site to do it, so it seems redundant, but weighed in today and down another 2 lbs!!!! couldnt be happier cause i had a BAD BAD weekend, all sorts of restaurants, late night eating and pizza and wings :S hate to think of what i could be down had i been more disciplined, but its a loss and ILL TAKE IT
