How do YOU motivate YOURSELF

I thought that if everyone posted their tips to motivate urself then it could help others get ideas.

1: buy clothes that are a size smaller and hang up in full view as a reminder of what I'm aiming towards

2: keep my weight loss goals pinned to my kitchen wall so that I see them every day and mark off the lbs as I get closer to goal I also put pictures of motivation around this (motivation wall)

3: I have two jars sitting on kitchen windowsill. One has 'lbs to lose' wrote on it and its filled with fancy stones. (One stone for each lb i want to lose) The other jar has 'lbs destroyed' on it and every time I lose a lb, I transfer one stone from the 'lbs to lose jar' into the 'lbs destroyed jar'.

I like your stones in jars idea, i may nick it!

I have a whiteboard in my kitchen above where my kettle is, and at the top i have written "3st 10lbs lost" and underneath "11lbs to christmas target"
Underneath that i write the day's menu on it, so i have breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks/drinks and then under that i have "syns used today/syns used this week/syns left/reserved syns" (i try and use 10 syns a day and have the extra 5 as reserve at the end of the week, so i have 35 reserve syns a week)

This is an old picture from last month to show you what i mean lol.....

Ur board looks good. I may have to steal the meal planner idea!!

I love my jars. It's fun emptying the lbs to lose into the lbs destroyed jar. I look forward to doing it and it makes the weight loss feel more official.

Here's a pic of my jars

I find it really motivates me and its good to keep track of syns, i always conveniently forget if i try and remember in my head lol! xxxx

I love both your ideas!!

The jars would motivate me I think! I'm rubbish at keeping the motivation going!

If I don't lose a lot in the first week I'm like "what's the point" and quit!

This time I have a trip to Goa with some friends that are size 8-10 so I don't want to look like the fat friend! Lol!

I will lose this weight this time and your idea's will hopefully help me along the way! Thanks!!

xx

Give it a go. Because even if its just a lb I have lost it still feels good cause ur moving over a stone in the jars. Actually maybe I have to change it to a stone for every 0.5 lbs??? Cause I've just realised that I might lose or gain half a lb at some stage lol

I have a notebook which I seperate into sections with days on my plans for the day HEX and syns, I write the HEX's and syns down if they're in the meal or if not I write them down when I eat them so I don't forget what I've eaten or what I'm planning on eating. It keeps me motivated as well as I like seeing it all written all down and don't like seeing big syns or question marks on it.

All of these ideas are great, I know trough my journey I had a photo of me at my biggest on my fridge so when I wanted to pick it stared me in the face!! I also used to do a lot of visualisation and picture myself in my head with what I wanted to look like! I also used to use food diaries and write down exactly what I was having that day, be organised and stick to it! X

Heres my motivational corner in my room.

i'll quickly go over it,

the wallpaper on my computer is called 'happiness is a choice' everytime i see it, it reminds me it's my choice to do this and how happier i am now.

i have some recipes to try in a little cd sleave, and a couple other recipes in other places.
a picture from my 21st
a list of goals for 2012, nearly all highlighted
various wristbands and quotes
badges and keyrings
little things for motivation

if you see something you see and want to know about just ask :)

i need to drop a dress size by xmas

im going away and want to fit into size 14s, so ive bought all my hol clothes in a size smaller (14's) and i have 9 weeks to do it. i started last week and lost 4.5lbs in my first week. so defo setting a goal for a reason helps me as it pressure to not slip up and meet my goal

Prepare yourself, I have quite a few. I'm basically by myself in a foreign country and it gets hard sometimes so something's gotta keep me going!

Well, I have listed all my predicted dates for when I am going to hit certain weights which I more or less stick to...

I also have a money box in my room and I put £1 in for every 1lb I lose - currently holds £(/euro)41

I've got my "for each 7lb" reward list which is on my blog which I would link to, but don't know if I can. Some of the rewards are material goods (speakers, spa, perfume, travel..), some commemorative of the weight loss (photo frame, charm bracelet) and some are productive to the weight loss (dance classes, workout shoes..). In addition to this, every 5lbs I lose, I get a new charm for my bracelet :). Not really treating myself atm because I've not got the money, but it's there in my mind, I might get it once I have money, not sure yet..

I also have progress graphs up on my bedroom wall, as well as my next goal written up in big sharpie letters.

I've also got a huge book where I note down my gradual progress, stick pictures of 'slimspiration' as well as articles from health magazines (inc slimming world), ideas, quoted chunks out of fitness books that I've read and tweets and messages people have sent me as inspiration.

Also I bought a dress last week, which I can fit into but I look gross in it, so that's also my inspiration.
