Hello, I'm hoping that posting this will help me to think carefully about what I'm feeling and make links between my emotions and food.

Mother's day is hard for me: I haven't got my mum, she died when I was 17, and I'm not a mum either although I would dearly love to be. But it IS just a day, so why am I finding it so hard? I had some apple and cinnamon porridge this morning at about 10 o clock. I went round to my brother's this morning and asked him to take a picture, I look awful, not weight wise exactly but you know when your hair and skin look wrong somehow.

And I have been 100% all week (my WI is Tuesday.) Now my scales jump between 11'2 to 11'4 but they are 2lbs less than at my CDC (I suspect mine may be correct as they tally with the 'official' ones in Boots but anyway) the point is, I was 11 7 at her house and 11 3/4 + 2 is 11'5/6. I'm wondering why I'm depriving myself just to lose two pounds, I know it's still good but today I feel so hungry, fed up and yes deprived, I am having an absolutely horrid time at work just now and I went for a job interview on Friday which I didn't get and I'm trying to think "long term" and think of beautiful summer dresses, bikinis and looking amazing at weddings but I just wonder what the point is when I feel so miserable just now!

    :(

Please talk me out of blowing it all for an easter egg and a cinnamon & raisin bagel ...

Hey puzzles. Resist the food. It will only make you feel worse when you've finished scoffing and then realise you've got even more weight to shift.

We all feel deprived from time to time on this diet but you really do need to recognise this and overcome. You've probably already read a lot of threads on here about beck but I can honestly not recommend it enough. Have a look on amazon for the beck diet solution and see what you think.

Don't try feeding your feeling, think long term. You can wear the lovely dresses in the summer you just gave to forgo the pleasure (of eating) now. It's got a bad rep but the saying " noting tastes as good as skinny feels" is defo my mantra at the moment when things get tough.

Good luck whatever you decide to do x

    It's hard, isn't it? :hug99:

But it won't be 2 pounds, it's more likely to be 3 if you can keep yourself focussed. It might even be 4. And whatever that devil on your shoulder is trying to tell you right now, there is no way that you could lose 12 pounds at WW or SW or calorie counting in 3 weeks!

Sounds to me more like you're bored than anything else (though that could be cos I'm definitely bored and I'm just assuming you are too. :))

How about getting yourself out for a walk? Do you like reading? Is there a good film on your shelf that you haven't watched for ages? How about having a play with make-up - even if you end up making yourself look horrendous, you might still get a good laugh out of it. :D

Step away from the egg and the bagel!

Get rid of your scales just weigh at CDC. Your weight fluctuates so much not just during the week but hour to hour depending on your water intake etc. Punishing yourself because you are predicting no weight loss or only 2lb (which is fab anyway 2lb a week for a month is over half a stone it all adds up) is not the right way to go about it if you are 100% the weight will fall off. It is so easy to look at your scales and want to throw in the towel. Think positive lose the scales. A ten minute chomp on an easter egg will only achieve worse feelings afterwards. Good Luck.

I'm sorry you're having a tough day :( not sure what to suggest about feeling deprived but I know what helps me when I'm feeling down on the diet - I have a little pamper session with a bubble bath and face mask and do my nails :) I dunno if you're a bit of a girly girl like I am but it always takes my mind off things. Hope you're feeling better soon x

I broke :( I don't feel proud of myself at all but I did. I have had 2 packets of fruit pastilles, 2 packets of starbursts (opal fruits!!) a choc crossaint, 4 hot cross buns and about 6 of those mini choc donuts you can get in supermarkets. Do I feel good? No, I feel like crap. It isn't worth it and I wish I'd known that at the start :(

To be honest - and I mean this in absolutely the right way, so I hope you don't misunderstand - I'm not surprised. See, in many ways, you didn't really have a choice in this one. Even as you posted, you knew you were going to crack. I think I might've done too in the same circumstances. If it'd just been one thing - that you were fed up - you might've found a way round it, but this was a cumulative thing: having a crap time at work, not getting that interview, it being Mother's Day...

This doesn't mean that you're never going to get there. It doesn't mean that you're incapable of getting this whole dieting thing right. It just means you had a day where you had to comfort yourself in the only way you know how.

Have you had your 3 shakes today? If you haven't, make sure you have them, hun, cos you need the vitamins and all the other goodies in them.

And then - yes, you hear these words around here a lot, but that's because they're true - draw a line under it and just carry on as if nothing happened - although most of us here would probably admit that we might just wait until tomorrow to do that... If you can do that today though, even better. :)

Don't lose heart, hun. All you've done is set your diet back one day. It'll take a day or three for the results of your blip to disappear from the scales, but I promise you won't have done any lasting damage.
