I'm getting a dog!

I have always wanted a dog since I was little, but my parents were against the idea for various reasons. Me and my OH have been discussing the idea for some time now since living together so on Monday we decided to go to our nearest Dogs Trust and have a look. We shortlisted a few we saw, but two we picked had already been reserved (our favourites!) and the others we decided against them once the rehoming lady told us more about them. She then mentioned another dog who she thought might be ideal for us, he was on the private 'quiet' block because of his nervousness hence why we hadn't seen him.

We fell in love with him instantly! He's a two year old Cairn terrier cross who was found as a stray so he is a bit nervous around strangers and other dogs, although he is in a kennel with another nervous female and they are fine together. I can already see a little cheeky side to him so hopefully with patience, care and attention he will grow more confident in time.

Will post some pics of him next week hopefully!

AW that's lovely and can I just say well done on rehoming rather than buying a puppy.

Hope your wee guy settles in well. Enjoy him!

I was always going to go down the rehoming route. I have a few friends who have rehomed strays and abused/neglected dogs and to see the dogs blossom into happy and more confident characters was amazing and must be so rewarding.

That is fantastic. You will never be alone again.

You will enjoy your dog so much. They are so rewarding.

We have 7, several were abandoned dogs and they are absolute gems.

Remember a dog talks with his tail, never his tongue. They love you unconditionally. It doesn't matter to them if you are old, young, fat, thin, good looking or ugly.

I love my dogs. I hope you get as much pleasure from your new addition as we get from ours.

They give us so much joy and the bonus is all the exercise walking them.

He'll be very spolit for walking as we live on a village green so lots and lots of grass for him to sniff around and explore. As he's a terrier I'm not sure it would be a good idea to let him off the lead for a run, that might be something to train over time - there is an enclosed field nearby which is a possibility. The green is used by lots of dog owners because of its size so it's very ideal to get him socialised more with other dogs.

Sarah, of my 7 dogs 5 are terriers of one type or another. They are so quick to learn. My lot are pretty wicked really cos they are a pack and really naughty. Individually they are so clever.

It is well worth training your new babe. So much better fro him and you.

Have lots of fun with him.

What is he called ??

My grandparents had a terrier mix dog, she was very quiet but extremely intelligent so hopefully my doggy will be quick to learn things too. His current name at the kennels is Cash, but we have decided on the name Murray instead.

Looking forward to seeing the photos of Murray.
