Hello!!
Not wanting to sound whingey... when is this famous ketosis meant to kick in? I feel like poo(in ruder terms tho.!!) tired, irritable,HUNGRY!!! I want ketosis,or is this it-three days they said,three days aaaaaaaaarrr!!
Ok, I have calmed down, sorry. Please could someone just tell me that I will feel ok soon, and also, what k-stupid-tosis feels like.
With good, though slightly(!) grumpy, wishes to you all.

You should go into ketosis on day 3 of SS. Not everyone does though. You can feel freezing cold, shouldn't feel hungry, might have awful breath and furry tongue, can feel listless/low energy ......... think that's it!!

Normally by start of second week to 10days afterwards you begin to feel better! Keep in there - it means you are burning FAT!!!

Ddb....hope you soon feel better, the first week to 10 days are definately the hardest. Have you got some ketostix, if so I would check to see if there is a change......it is hard but once you get through it you will feel fantastic.

Yep - 4 or 5 days for me too. Stick with it and it will get better, I promise. Just think how POO you will feel about yourself if you cave in and eat now!!

Hang on in there, you will feel better soon. As already said it is the first couple of weeks that are the hardest, it took me nearly a week to get into ketosis and I didn't immediately fantastic, it was a slow process, but each day I felt less hungry and more energetic than the day before. By week - felt good :)

I didn't mean to sound grumpy-not used to having moods-used to suppressing everything with food!! ;)
Am on my second litre of water and know I can get through this.Just between us though, wish it was a magical,three day process,then I could have pizza for dinner!!!:D
I am doing it a day at a time,I think its the only way to look at it, otherwise I would get depressed about how much I've got to lose and how long that might take. Food will always be there-I just don't want to be always overweight!

Hi Daydreambeliever,

If you have not cut down on carbs before hand it will take longer.

I went cold turkey this time round and it took me the five days to feel the hunger ease off, but it was worth sticking it out as I had a drop on the scales of 10lbs.:)

While your waiting and wondering why you should do this diet you could write down all the things you would like to change and all the things you want to do in thefuture.

Take some before photos and measure yourself from head to toe not forgetting upper arms:D

You will lose between one and one half stone for the first month and a stone after that...of course this can vary up and down with each person.

The first week is rough but it does get better, otherwise none of us would be able to do it!!!
