Jess's Diary - Weighed in a day early..

I'm almost convinced to join in with this running malarkey but I'm still not sure I can hack it. Or maybe I'm just too lazy to train for it! Hahaha! Good luck with the running this weekend Jess you brave little soldier.

Not really into films but having just googled this one I might give it a bash! Beautiful eh? Sounds like my cuppa tea.

It's not generally a beautiful film, not like Memoirs of a Geisha or anything but there's just this one bit with strobe lighting, slow mo and a fire.. looked amazing.

I am now the proud fiancée of the lovely Adam :D We went to Virgina Water today and had a lovely picnic. A rotisserie chicken (immense), potato salad (made by mummy k, very nice too), crusty bread, cheese, bit of choccy and some salsa (again made by mummy k). Once we digested a bit we walked around the lake. Adam kept going on about wanting to go to the flower garden bit (as unknown to me he thought it would be a nice place to propose). On the way there though I saw a bit of forest which no one else was in (probably because they didn't think you could go there) and I said we should go sit in there for a bit. It was peaceful, quiet apart from chirpy birds and there were some wild flowers about. I looove forests because I think I actually should have been born a hobbit or a faerie. I'm really into mythical things and fantasy. He proposed there instead and it was perfect. He nearly cried which was very sweet but I just laughed because the ring was upside down :p I'm a very very happy Jess. Had some champers and now on the diet coke, lovely.

Most of you have seen on Facebook, but for the rest:

It's so lush Jess, I'll attach one of mine on here as I've not stuck in on Facebook yet (not sure why).

I'll tell you our engagement story on here :)

Around November time we were talking about moving in together but whether we could afford it etc etc - plus Rob works in Gorleston and I'm in Norwich (distance of about 20 miles, fine if you drive, but he doesn't) so we said when my tenancy was up we'd look for somewhere together. At the time we were going out quite a bit as we had some surplus money (oh how I'd wish for that now) and one day after drinking a bit too much we were wandering back and passed an antique jewellers near my flat.

I started saying about how I've never wanted to have a traditional engagement ring (not because I don't like them, but because I'm strange  ) or a traditional wedding. I'm not sure where it had come from, we'd discussed marriage before but when we first met Rob was absolutely adamant he would never get married, so I never thought he would seriously consider it. Then he just said "Which one do you like" and I laughed and pointed out the most ostentacious one I could find and he said "If you want it, we'll get it" - I remarked that it looked very engagement like and he said "So?" - I thought he was just saying "Well, it doesn't have to be an engagement ring".

I turned round at that point and said "Yeah, like we're ever going to get engaged" and he laughed - I was feeling a bit hurt in a wounded pride sort of way and then he said "You idiot, I'm asking you to marry me" :D

The shop was shut at that point and the "proper" rings were not out on display anyway - so I said "What the hell do we do now?" and he said "Tomorrow we shop for rings" :D

Tomorrow came and I got up extra early not really thinking he meant it, but when we walked into town to get the paper he said "So where do you want to look" :flirt2: We walked around for hours, checking each shop twice, stopped off to look online, couldn't find anything I liked, and then went back to the original shop we'd seen the first (wrong) ring in. There was the most beautiful art deco antique aquamarine ring, and the best thing about it was it was pretty cheap! :D

Rob saw my eyes light up and said "Yep, that's the one" and we went inside - had it sized up (it was too small initially, so had to have it extended) and Rob paid for it - was told it would be about a week to wait.

They rang us 5 days later and said it was ready, so we donned out best clothes, picked up the ring, went out for lunch and then to the pub where Rob first told me he loved me. We got a drink, it was real quiet and then I said "Oh let me try the ring on" - I was desperate - it was burning a hole in his coat pocket!

Rob got the ring out and said "I have wanted to marry you ever since I spent the first night with you" And I got a bit teary, then he told me how much he loved me and wanted to be my husband and would I be his wife? There was no bended knee (just as well as it was chuffing cold on the ground) and I said yes and then we went and got drunk on cocktails! :D

Here is the ring

I love that ring! When I've got some more money (i.e. when I get a job :p) I want to buy some antique rings and jewellery. I love that shiz. For our first anniversary Adam bought me a moonston, pear drop necklace from an antique shop (I picked it out). It was £40 which was a lot to me back then, haha. I love it to pieces! When you said it was much more romantic than my story I thought it would be just "so, shall we get married?" sort of thing, but no it is romantic! Plus cocktails = win.

:D I'm still laughing as I was busy making potato salad and salsa and Adam and Jess went off shopping
when Jess came back she was like Mummy K do you want to come haha!!! think poor Adam was horrified I'd say yes ;)

that story made me laugh Bex

Look at me spending my engagement night on the intawebs, hehe. The first thing I did after phoning my mum was to post the news on facebook. Then when we got back to the car I checked for all the comments :D Before we went home I went to Boots for false nails (as I couldn't take photos of my lovely ring with my skanky nails) and Tescos for a wedding magazine. Priorities! Those mags are more expensive than bloomin food porn mags. Also had to get some diet coke for mummy k as we forgot to first time round.
