Kim's diary of being a new mum

33+5 Weeks

Feeling quite uncomfortable today - feel like baby is pressing down on my cervix, which is making me waddle (my lovely colleague informed me i am doing the "pregnant walk" today )

I also feel very tender down there....it's not swollen i don't think....not that i could see if i wanted to...but just feel like i am aware of that area more than usual today so i guess baby is probably pressing down.... i'm pretty sure it's head down as i am sure i keep getting a little bottom poking out by my ribs and kicks up by my ribs too.

Strangely feels like the baby is scratching (?) my hip area....it's a really weird sensation, but i assume it's little hands moving in that area. Very very odd! haha.

We are getting a new bed delivered today...cannot wait to sleep in it tonight...a kingsize bed...we aren't going to know what to do with the space as for the last few months we have been sleeping in a small double (4ft) so we are going to have a whole foot more space!! Cannot wait!!! :D

We are going shopping with Mike's parents on Saturday for baby stuff so really looking forward to that and hoping i can get excited rather than overwhelmed by it! Mike also said he will make a start on baby's room on Sunday.
I get that "swollen" feeling allot when I've been on my feet allot.. Or done lotz of bending down/picking up.. Sometimes (yesterday) just randomly... Its just the extra blood flow to the area apparently.. Not nice at all.. If u lay down, hips/legs raised for a while it does ease it a bit... I try to lay like that for a while each night but if its not bothering on a specific day I do forget... Its a bit like my pelvic floor exercises.. lol
Also the little scratching feeling... That is WEIRD!!! Literally feels like baby is tickling the insides... Def sounds like bubba is head down..

Ah I'm glad it's not just me. Home with my feet up now so hoping it'll feel better soon. Will have a bath later.

Boobs are killing me today so I think I've probably got a bit of a hormone surge going on.

33+6 weeks

Well baby seems to have moved overnight and my bump seems a lot lower - even my manager has said how much lower it seems today. Baby is still being on the quieter side - i did tell it last night that if it doesn't get more active again i'll have to call the hospital, but it's wriggling around now so i wonder if it's turned sideways or something so kicking in to me rather than out and all i am feeling is the turning. However it's laying i feel much more comfortable today than i did yesterday so thats good.

I've got my whooping cough jab this afternoon, a bit late but with christmas and then being put on steroids the doctor told me i shouldn't have it as the steroids would have made it less effective. Lets hope it doesn't kill my arm too much.

Ooh our new bed is devine! Slept really well and the neighbour was quiet - didn't hear a sound which was good. He was definitely there as i heard him this morning so hopefully Monday night was just a bad night for him.

Last day of being 33 weeks - eeep! on to 34 tomorrow. Where are the weeks going?!

4 more weeks of work left too! :D

Hope you girls all have a good day! xx

Oooh... We'll soon see :)

Have you worked out your going back date?? I'm coming back Sept 19th as I'm taking annual leave at the end too.. Plus my Bank Holiday entitlement so it gives me 31 weeks instead of 26... :)

No haven't worked out my going back date yet - our HR department are USELESS and haven't sent me a letter detailing my entitlements yet. I think my full pay finishes in June/July, so i am hoping to go back beginning of October (August/Sept/Oct are CRAZY busy times at the University so i want to try and miss as much of the chaos as i can lol!) Once i have the letter i can work out money etc as i'll know when my SMP will end and what holiday i have accrued etc. I also need to work out whether i am coming back full time or going to request PT hours of 4 days a week so i can have baby for a day a week to hopefully mean we wont have to pay for a nursery as my mum, sister and mike's mum will take over childcare on the other days.

The logistics of all this freaks me out a bit so i admit i am doing the good old "head in the sand" ignoring it! haha.

Oh I'm doing that too to a degree... We don't have anyone to mind baby so its a crèche for us.. Full time! Which will cost between 900 - 1300 per month... So I need to first of all ring around the local crèches n find out what age they take baby from and their costs and terms.. As in do I pay them while they close for summer hols/Christmas hols etc.. And then ring social welfare to find out what I'm entitled to claim benefits wise and then do the maths to see if it'd be worth my while coming back to work...

It's sooooo expensive to put children in childcare i just don't understand how people afford it full time! Baby will go to nursery when it gets to 2 years old - the University has a nursery which is marginally subsidised but still pretty pricey, but i want it to get used to socialising etc before it gets to school age. God knows how we'd cope if we had 2 babies under 2....even though i'd like 2 close together i think we will have to wait a couple of years at least between them as we definitely need me to work in order to afford the mortgage/bills etc.

I much prefer ignoring it and believing it will all be OK than actually thinking about it though.....so back to denial i go! ;)

Hi sweetie x

Finally catching up properly!

Hope you're well? Sorry to hear about your neighbour but it's good that he won't be around for long by the sounds of it. RE childcare/going back to work etc - I'm definitely burying my head in the sand and I'm (at the moment) refusing to go back to work to hubby (definitely full time anyway), but that's more because I really don't want to - being ABLE to, though, is a completely different story. Which is why I'm ignoring it at the moment. I'll deal with it when the time comes I think as we will be skint. I think I'm just hoping (probably like the rest of you girls) that a miracle happens where I really CAN stay off with my little one. I'm sure all of us would rather do that.

Positive thinking though - I think we will all manage more this year, than we think we will. I think it's normal to worry/stress, but the reality might actually be different. We may all cope very well - here's hoping eh? :)

For the time being though, here's to enjoying the last little bit of pregnancy, and every second of the day when our babies do enter this world :)

Hope you're having a nice weekend hun, and HAPPY 34 WEEKS!!! :D

xxxxx

34+2 Days

Aww my signature ticker baby has turned head down! clever baby lol. 40 days to go! Crikey that really does seem close!!!

Sorry i didn't get on over the weekend, we had a busy one. Saturday we met Mike's parents at mothercare to get bits and pieces for the baby - we got the crib bedding, change mat, towels, muslins and a little swing for bubba. Was really exciting buying all the stuff and made it feel very real :D.

Mike was busy doing some DIY....i was helping where i could. Although his plan was to do the baby's room we didn't get that far......he was trying to get his fish tank set up and had to take apart a cupboard that had been built before he could get it to sit where it's needed  He also sorted the front garden so i can park off the road too which is good. Saturday night we spent 5hrs watching episodes of prison break.....obsessed much?! haha.

Sunday i went out to get some bits for my hospital bag as Saturday night i had what i assume were BH contractions while watching prison break and it kind of freaked me out lol. Mike continued with the DIY and was aching so much...i think he over did it! We sort of got the baby's room in to some sort of order.......just need to paint the wall so it's neutral and i have a feeling i may be doing that myself next weekend as i'm getting a bit impatient waiting for Mike to do it and i know he wants to finish doing his fish tank...boys and their toys!! :sigh:

We had a nice roast dinner in the evening and chilled out watching yet more Prison Break last night.

Will post a photo of the baby bits we got tonight i hope! :)

Hope you girls had a good weekend! xx

Sounds like you are mid-nesting. Ohh we watched prison break when it came out, we loved it, it became treat night. Loved Michael too Frances, could have watched it on mute just for him lol x

Yup bi used to wake n say "let's watch Michael. Oh I mean prison break" ha ha

LOL I loved the ticker thing too when I got to 34 weeks :D lol xx

Sounds like a great weekend :) Lots done and organised. And I too love Prison Break! Me and hubby went through all of the 4 series about a year ago in like a couple of weeks lol just back to back episodes. I too love Michael ;) (like Frances!)

And Mike sounds like John with the sodding fish tank! Swear to god that's the only thing in the house John will clean up and spend some time on  lol bloody obsessed with it he is!! Never mind the house being a bomb-site and me needing help with the hoovering or whatever - he'll sit on his ar*e then! But if his poxy tank needs cleaning he's straight in there lol xx

Jonathan would love a fish tank!!! Don't think I'll allow it ha ha

Haha glad i'm not the only one.....i do like Michael but i have to confess i have a little soft spot for Linc too! Gotta love watching something with a bit of eye candy in it! Can't believe it's taken us this long to realise it was worth watching! Good old netflix having the older series on it.

Well nothing got done last night apart from about 4 more episodes of Prison Break...we finished the first series so on to the 2nd. I did have plans to dig all the baby stuff out and start washing, but Michael and Linc were more demanding of my time ;) Maybe baby stuff will get done tonight....or maybe i'll waste another evening watching Prison Break lol :p You'd never imagine i'm having a baby in 6 weeks would you ;)

Well Mike's coming down with the cold i had over the christmas period.....hopefully getting lemsips in to him early will beat it before it becomes man-flu!!!

Frances - don't get a fish tank lol. Although i admit i do like it when it's all set up and i like shopping for fish but if you want anything else done and the tank needs cleaning then forget it! Mike is just like John and will spend hours cleaning the tank! He also spends a fortune on stuff for the tank

34+3 Weeks today
Woke up feeling really sicky today....like i did in those first few weeks....bleurgh! Lets hope thats not a sign of things to come. I woke up about 2am feeling hungry and didn't eat anything so i wonder if it was hunger. I've just managed to eat some cereal so fingers crossed that helps and doesn't make me feel worse.

Apart from that i'm good, baby has been really active which has been a bit uncomfortable at times...it really is running out of room, i have no idea where 6 more weeks of growth are going to go!!!

Hope you girls are all good!
xx

Yeah I quite like Linc too...he's a bit more my type than Michael (rough and ready lol) but Michael is a sweetheart. :)

Oh bless you hun x I think that seems to be the norm round about now. I kept waking up in the night feeling sick too - I think due to hunger but I didn't want to get up and get anything otherwise it would be murder trying to get back off to sleep. Really should have done as I feel pretty nauseous today too :( And that's after having yoghurt and an apple today x

Hope you feel better hun xxx
