I am unclear with regards lemon juice, I know we cannot drink diet lemonade but I was reading the diet guide last night and it said that on step 2 you can cook fish with lemon. Surely this contains citric acid, or am I being thick
When you get to step 2 it is true that you can use lemon juice to cook fish.
And I always say that once ketosis is established, after those first two weeks, if your diet lemonade is zero kcal you can have that too, providing it doesn't make you hungry, give you cravings.
They tested citric acid a while ago and found that it's unlikely that the amount of citric acid in diet drinks could knock you out of ketosis, but you have to be aware that it might, hence the limit to 1 pint a day.
I'll have to look out the letter I got from the powers that be. It was probably two years ago now. I haven't received anything that rescinds that advice, so that's what I'm still running with.
