LoChan's diary - hello!

Hi LoChan - glad to have finally found your diary (we "met" on Micci's diary)!

Dunno how you have the time for all that yummy cooking and heaps of exercise. I am such a lazy so and so - that's half the problem I think.

I'm not a veggi by the way. I just don't eat red meat as it looks so gross and veiny and bony etc etc.

I quite fancy the lemon chili chicken and the chicken dhansak - are they your own recipes??

I don't know whether to start a diary. As a serial binger, I lie to myself (and family) all the time about what I eat. I am sick of picking Twix crumbs out of my knickers. - Don't worry I don't have some weird fetish - I hide the chocolates etc in my undie drawer!

I love to come on here and get ideas and stuff. Unfortunately, I haven't managed to stop binging - if I wrote a diary it would fill Minimins. My intestines know no limits, multipacks a speciality!

I do eat more home cooked stuff though now and will continue to check out your diary for healthy alternatives. I must say Twix's are rather bland actually, I will have to find a better class of rubbish...

Love Pomooky XXX

Nice to see you on here :)

Lol I don't know whether to call you Pomooky or TwixKnicks now :8855:

I'm lucky that I work jobshare and from home so I get a fair bit of time to fit in the cooking and stuff. Hehe also I'm hermit girl, my life is basically the OH and son and the occassional small dose of immediate family so not much gets in the way of staying on plan. Don't I sound like a sad lonely goody two shoes :sigh::D

I got the lemon chilli chicken recipe from slimming eats Lemon Chilli Chicken | Slimming Eats - Slimming World Recipes I'd recommend having a good look at the recipes on there, fab food :D

Lily42Uk gave me the chicken dhansak recipe, it's gorgeous (hope you don't mind me C&P'ing the recipe over here Lily - I've credited you lol)
********************************
Chicken Dhansak
400g red lentils, rinsed
2 carrots chopped
½ swede diced
1 medium/large potato diced
1 onion diced
400g can of chopped tomatoes
Fry Light
1 tsp turmeric
Salt and pepper
1-2 inch piece of root ginger or 2 tsp ground ginger
3 cloves garlic
Another tsp turmeric
2tbs of madras or any other curry powder
½ -1 tsp chilli powder and 1 tsp chilli’s
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp sweetner
4 chicken breasts, diced and fried in fry light
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Place the carrots, lentils, swede, onion and 1st tsp of turmeric in a pan with the salt and add enough water to cover
the ingredients by about an inch over the top. Bring to the boil and simmer until tender.
Add the tomatoes and cook for another 10 minutes, blend and then set aside.
Cook the chicken in fry light and set aside.
Spray a large pan or wok with fry light, place over a medium heat and add the spices,
cook for 30 seconds and add the ginger, lemon juice, garlic, and sweetener and stir together.
Add the lentils and blended veg mix and then the chicken and cook on a low heat for about 30 minutes.

I'd definitely recommend starting a diary - and trying to be 100% honest. I've had the problems with bingeing and stuff (mostly) in the past, and it usually flares up big time after I've been losing weight for a couple of months. Hoping if I hit the danger zone again the kind peeps on minimins will help pull me out of it. Came here 2 years ago while on SW but didn't keep a diary then so I could just disappear quietly. I'd hope that I wouldn't be able to do that this time :)

Oatmeal cookies sound yum, just not sure about the added pumpkin..still making my tummy lurch, I bet their gorgeous but unless I can get my head round the idea it'll remain a mystery lol
It was lovely and hot here all day, had my windows wide open and was walking about in a strappy top it was lovely, hope we have more cos the grandkids want to do 2 days out ...I am going to be shattered but so worth it lol
Hope you're having a fab day xxxxx

You could swap the pumpkin for stewed apple - the original recipe used it and it wouldn't add too many syns. Going to try that out at the weekend and tinker with the recipe some more :)

Hope the weather stays nice for your busy weekend. Just found out my OH is having to go into work all day tom'ow and my son's not back home until teatime so I've got a whole day to myself. Should do lots of exercise but I'll probably end up watching films and guzzling cinnamon apple tea (there's no pumpkin in it, honest ;))

Hi hun, course I don't mind you sharing the recipe, it's not technically mine anyway lol...I just adapted a beef dhansak cos I'm not keen on beef curry lol
You're life sounds like mine so if you're a sad lonely goody two shoes then so am I and we can be together sad and lonely on here...maybe we could create a club cos I reckon there might be a few more of us than you think lol
Now apple is much more up my street ...might give that one a go xxx

Do we have enough rep between us to entice people to join The Sad and Lonely Losers Club? It doesn't sound like it would be very popular on the slimming world teams board :8855:

Didn't do my food diary for yesterday (heh also delaying putting my WI result on here :D)

B - Pumpkin, 'oatmeal' and raisin breakfast cookies (hexb & 2.5syns), activia yoghurt
Pumpkin oatmeal breakfast cookies.jpg

L - Tofu in syn-free bbq sauce, butternut squash wedges, broccoli

Afternoon - starbucks skinny vanilla latte (hexa milk, syrup sugarfree/0 cals).

D - Bird's eye lemon & herb salmon, roasted root vegetable batons.
Treats! Mini crunchie (4 syns), packet velvet crunch (4 syns).

Evening - milky coffee (hexa), fibre plus bar (hexb), apple slices.

I got two free bags of some mature cheddar tortilla chip thingies in with my multipack of velvet crunch. Annoyingly they're 9 syns a bag so I couldn't try those last night. Just did walking yesterday. Plan for today is at least half an hour yoga and the 40mins superfit workout with davina :)

WI result for me this week - 3.5lbs off :D

I thought challenge weeks would mean things would go up and down but I seem to have hit a comfortable stride at the moment lol Not that I'm complaining!

Now I've got to remember it's scan bran week, totally forgot to plan them into my day :p

:woohoo: you clever girl you, what a star you are :winner:, amazing losses, going to have to give these challenges a go, found the link, looked and thought ..maybe time to get over that and give it a try.
I am warming to the oatmeal and pumpkin cookies they look amazing would go great with my :coffee: yum

Hmmm I reckon we could :whip: up some support for our sad lonely club ...would be a laugh to try anyway :giggle:
At the very least there'd be 2 members :8855: xxxxx

whooooo whooooo well done you! fab loss! can you send the fat fighting fairies my way now please as I need to shift 2.5lb by monday just to sts :(

Well I am the same too (definately twins then Lily) I love my home and family and very much a hermit at times. Its just how I like to be. My life very much revolves around home etc. With the odd sociable time when I feel like it :8855: sociable for me is coffee at my mates house....

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yeah! The Sad and Lonely Losers Club sounds just up my street!!

I am always home alone with my young teenage son. I do not, never ever, socialise and I'm never happier than cosied up to my laptop, preferably with a glass of wine.

The only thing that may make me exempt is the "Losers" bit. I haven't lost anything!

S.L.L.C all the way (Sulk by name, sulk by nature:D)

Cheers Pomooky XXX

Yay, four members on the founding day of the club lol excellent.

Pomooky get stuck in with your laptop and start a diary and we'll get you losing :D

Mmn, wine is cropping up on a lot of posts I've read to day... been ages since I had a glass  But I've only got white in, that one's not free on a red day - wrong colour :8855:

*pokes the fat fighting fairies over to Jackie with a sturdy broom*

Can you send them back by next friday night please, I'll need them for next saturday :D

of course sweetie I shall return them immediately :D

white wine is free on a green day :D ;) green grapes you see :8855:

I have a bottle of red in the cupboard and I'm having a red day :D decisions decisions :8855:

I hardly ever drink but so fancy a glass I shall probably become a giggly hiccupping mess if I do though on one glass :8855: tizz my age you know :8855:

I better save it for Monday when I'm having a green day then :8855:

I'm exactly the same, just have a drink maybe once a month or so but if I go away (which I did at the start of august) I'll be having half a bottle of wine most nights shared with my dad (see - I'm 27 and still go away with my dad and grandparents in wales, S.L.L.C for life :8855:).

Mn I'll have to make sure I use the sensible wine glass instead of my goldfishbowlesque one :D

:talk017:
well done lo xxx these challenges of yours really seem to work xxx

think i could be a member of the S.L.L.C
going out it not my thing

You're more than welcome to join, fairly informal and easygoing since we all can't be ar$ed leaving the house :8855:

Mn feeling uncertain about this scanbran one - had them at lunch and I've been having cramps all evening. Insides are in shock lol I will persevere, out of curiousity more than anything :)

Finally stuck to the exercise I'd said I would do, plus a tiny bit extra. 30 mins barbara currie yoga dvd, 40 mins davina's superfit workout and a 10 minute superabs add-on section. Tummy seems bigger instead of smaller atm 'cause think I've lost the weight off my top and legs so thought I'd better get to work on core exercises now to balance things out

5 scanbran for today - check :D

B - wholemeal toast (hexb), choc PB (2.5 syns), jam (1 syn), chopped banana

L - Pumpkin & chestnut soup (2.5 syns), scan bran (hexb) mini pizzas with bbq sauce, ham, mozzarella (hexa) & fresh oregano. The pizzas were nice dunked into the soup :D

D - pork rice paper rolls (they went a bit wrong but still tasty, 6 syns), salt and pepper tofu (this was lovely, 2 syns) and stir-fried pak choi.
Pork rice paper rolls & pak choi.jpg Salt & pepper tofu.jpg
Evening - milky coffee (hexa) and 2 piece curly wurly scanbran cake (4 syns).
Curly Wurly scanbran cake.jpg
The soup was supposed to be pumpkin and walnut but I think I've been seeing imaginary food in my cupboards again or they turned into a packet of chestnuts  Still turned out nice, though definitely want to try it out with walnuts :)

Trying out a hot and sour soup recipe tomorrow, shall report in with my findings ;)

tofu recipe pleeeeeeeeeeease :)

how was the curly wurly cake? x

Cake was okay, still a bit of an odd texture but not bad for now and again. Got four more 2 syn pieces to munch through :)

The tofu recipe (for once) I worked out myself :D Using the first part of that zesty pesto tofu salad I made the other day as an inspiration.

Salt & Pepper Tofu
This is for one serving, oh so much garlic lol:

(roughly) 150g extra firm tofu
1 tsp olive oil (2 syns)
4 cloves garlic

1 medium onion
green or red pepper (up to you the amount)
2 cloves garlic crushed
2 red/green chillies - chopped (up to you about the seeds, adds heat)
1 tsp splenda (you can use sugar if you prefer)
salt & pepper

1. Drain tofu. Wrap securely, like a parcel, in several layers of kitchen paper and place on a board. Press gently to extract as much liquid as possible without crumbling the tofu. Repeat this process until there is only a little moisture coming through the paper. Carefully cut tofu into small cubes. Place in a bowl.

2. Drizzle the tsp of oil over the cubes, and crush 4 cloves of garlic over them - mix carefully to coat all over. Cover tightly and marinate in fridge for between 1 and 12 hours (did mine for about 3-4hours)

3. Preheat oven to 180C/350/F/Gas 4. Line baking tray with baking parchment/non-stick baking paper.

4. Place tofu on lined baking tray and cook for 20 minutes, stirring after 10 minutes. Take out of oven and set aside (in a bowl for convenience).

5. Chop up the onion and red/green pepper and stir fry in frylight until beginning to soften. Add the two crushed garlic cloves and the chopped chillies, stirfry for a further 1-2mins.

6. Add in the tofu, the tsp of splenda and salt and pepper to taste - stir everything around until well mixed.

7. And serve!

**hmn I'm a little unsure if I did use 2 or 4 garlic cloves in with the onions/pepper bit. *shrugs* see what works, if you like a lot use more!

Hi hun, well done for sticking to the scan bran plan, not sure I could lol...love the little pizzas though...would imagine there wouldn't be a lot of difference between the chestnuts and walnuts in the soup, you only get a hint of the taste of the nuts and not sure I would be able to say which was which, but still love it..might try it with chestnuts after I've used up this batch of walnuts lol. xxxx

That garlicky tofu sounds nice. Isn't olive oil a HEX B still on a green day?

I've a favourite marinade with diluted soya sauce, rosemary, lemon juice and engevota nutritional yeast - very yummy
