Mrs B On A Mission

Just had a play around with mfp and it keeps telling me under 1300 cals for me to lose weight :sigh: I don't understand why!! Maybe to do with exercise, which I need to do, finding it hard to find something that doesn't make my back feel like it's gonna break into a thousand pieces :( xx

How old are you?

I've put your stats into my spreadsheet (which uses the Mifflin St. Jeor Equation to work out BMR and the Harris-Benedict Formula to calculate daily calories needs) - but it assumes you are 41 (my age - can easily change that and re-do it).

I got this for you:

So, yes, for you to lose an average of 1 lbs/week - you will need to eat 500 kcals/day less than you need which is 1814-500 = 1314 kcals/day. If you could do some light exercise though you could still be losing that amount on 1500 kcals/day. TBH I don't want to regularly go much below 1500 kcals so as I lose weight I know I will need to up the exercise to keep the weight-loss going.

Obviously, these are all averages and make assumptions etc but not a bad starting point for seeing how the numbers stack up.

How bad is your plantar fasciitis at the moment? Could you swim?

haha used to being told that :)
ahhhhh i know! I wish i would of measured before i went now, but still, if i cant lose weight here with the heat and exercise then i give up lol im sure i will though!! I really struggled in the UK, maybe it was my coke (a cola) addiction!!
Love ur goal btw haha made me laugh!!

Not to put you off or anything but when we went to live in Spain I put a stone a year on for 5 years :D:D Got rid of it now but we were not working and just messed about doing nothing all day but socialising which included lots of food and drink.

Morning. I'm 26.. 27 in 2 weeks :p
It's actually not too bad at the moment. It's always worse in summer because of the shoes I wear!!! I could swim but I also have to wait till summer as that's when the pools open.. And the sea lol I do want to start exercising though. I've been looking.out for a cheap stepper as I don't mind that, hurts my back Abit but everything hurts that so there is worse things!!! Xx

Hey! Haha yes I've sort of realised that now.. I've put a stone on living here and it's been 10months. You would think u would sweat it off but noooooo!!!

I know another big problem of mine is too much fizz and not enough water!! Need to improve on that xx

Oooo so I have 1582 cals to consume to lose what amount of weight? A pound per week? Xxx

No BMR is you basal metabolic rate - the amount your body needs simply to carry out respiration etc without moving at all.

I've done these calculations based on you being 5'0'', age 27 and 204 lbs at the moment. These would be your likely weekly averages losses - so if you consumed approx. 1600 kcals and didn't exercise then you could expect to lose an average of 0.6 lbs/wk (after initial water weight loss etc).

I'm going to go an do the same for myself now!

Awww got excited then lol. Absolutely love that chart thankyouuuu!!!! Know where I am upto now!! Xx

Morning :)
I could do swimming.. But the pools here only open in summer! Very annoying lol.
What have your losses been like on 1350?

So I've had a busy last couple of days. Still stuck to plan though which I am pleased with! On the hunt for a stepper today!
Hope u all have a fab day xx

Yep.. I'm so Dissapointed! I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I have always struggled on eating diets Tbh. But cmon I'm on such low calories how can I not loose!!??? Xx

Stop :) when I was at my heaviest a few years ago I would be exactly the same - have had 3 sts weeks then it started to come down then it would happen again a few weeks later. Carry on as you are and ignore it (I know it is hard) and you will see results.

Oh no, that really isn't fair :(

But I agree with systema: if you know that your calorie-counting is accurate (do you measure liquids with measuring spoons and weigh solid food with a digital scale, btw? because that's really the only way to be sure of what you're consuming) then give it time.

Everyone has their own pattern of weight loss; some lose in biggish chunks then don't lose anything for weeks (that would be me!), some lose at a solid, steady rate, and some do a bit of both.

You need to give it at least a month before you can start properly assessing what's going on. Your body could just be hanging on to water for some reason (hormonal, more than likely), and your actual loss will show up when it lets go of it.

Hang in there, and I bet the scales start moving soon.

Thanks ladies. To be honest I have been dieting now since 2009 and have always had this problem and convince myself each time that it will be different. But it never is.. I can give diets a month, 2 even 3 and my.losses are rubbish compared to everyone else! And I'm talking 1 and a half lb in a month sticking to it!! Same with Sw and Ww. Vlcd and Atkins is the only thing that ever worked but really don't want to go down that route. It's so unfair. It's not even like I'm not trying or eating too much, fat from it!! Anyway yep will again for the millionth time give it longer but I'm sure it's gonna be the same rubbish results!
Thanks girls. :) xx

Was that a little slip of the fingers on the keyboard :D

No don't give up on it - stay here a bit longer and we will give you all the encouragement you want. I put weight on with SW eating far too much "free food" and gave up and did calorie counting which suits me but my minimins friend lost loads doing SW and is still at target.
You have to find what suits you and stick with it. I weighed almost 16 stones in 2000 and it took me about a year to lose it - then I had an accident about 3 years ago and put 2.5 back on but decided when I had recovered it was going.

Lol whoops yes stupid autocorrect!
I will stick around. I don't really have any other diet options Tbh lol and Thankyou :) it's just one of them days! Especially when I look back on mfp to me saying I was a stone and a half away from my target of 9 and a half stone :banghead: horrified!! Xx
