My 10 Week TS Bali Bikini Diet

Oh you poor thing, not only is the fact that you've lost your poor dad sad, but the in between bit is such an odd time. I'm so pleased that your mum will still come on that wonderful trip of a life time with you. I'll tell you what Bali is like in glorious technicolour, if you tell me what your amazing trip is like!
Despite the dreadful occasion, I am so pleased you're able to fit in your dress.
I hope the day goes well on Friday, and that you, your mum and your families are able to be great support for each other x

Any time footie.

So, today folks I've been experimenting with my foods packs. Usually I have my breakfast shake when I get up at 0630, then when I'm bored at work around 11/12 ish I'm ready for my bar, and then my final shake when Mr wonderful had his tea around 5 ish. Today I didn't have my breakfast shake, didn't notice any hunger and am just having my bar now. How bizarre that by having no first shake I've lasted longer!

I am so exited about being well again. I could skip around with joy, because I really can't tell you how Ill I had felt these past few days and how very odd and worrying it was. I'm so glad that my detective skills found the cause, and that the company have agreed to refund me. Slightly concerned that they haven't asked what the symptoms of my reaction were though. You'd have thought they'd have wanted to know?

My books have arrived too - The Alternate Day Diet, and Protein Power. Will get my nose into those later, I MUST walk the poor dog. Today for some reason I can always find something else to do first!

Have just done a comparison on my inches lost since the day I started Exante one month ago and today. Total inches lost across bicep, waist, hips and thighs is 14.75 so I'm very chuffed with that.

Have been reading The Alternate-Day Diet by James Johnson. The reasons we're becoming fatter are explained in such an understandable way. Even if you weren't considering this method of weight loss or maintenance, it really is worthy of a read. At this stage of my reading I am still thinking of doing low carb, up day down day after my holiday to get down to 9 st 7 ish, and then maintenance.

Good morning sunny Wednesday. Hump day is here (middle of the week)!
I'm feeling well and happy, ready to face another great ts day. I'm sticking with my new plan of not having a shake before work, as that worked really well for me yesterday.

Since having skim read the Protein Plan book yesterday, and read the alternate day diet I am slightly betwixt and between quite how to proceed when I return from holidays.

Here's the thing; when I return I am likely to be around 10.7 and ultimately I want to get to 9.7 so I'll still have a stone to lose. That doesn't need to come off quickly, so I can do that by learning to eat sensibly. I know I am insulin resistant, so will do low carb for long term maintenance, but I am reading about real health benefits in fasting/vlc on two days a week. So the dilemma is whether to do low carb with 2 days fasting, or just low carb.
I've got two months to work all this out, but any thoughts our opinions are very welcome.

Could you outline the benefits of fasting for me to save me spending money on another book?
Ok, here's what the blurb on the back says (in a nutshell):
"You have a 'skinny gene' and now there's a way to activate it, with a simple & effective technique called alternate-day dieting: eat normal portions of your favourite foods one day, and diet the next. You never feel deprived, and you don't suffer from diet fatique, the reason most diets fail.
Every other day calorie restriction works because it accepts the compulsion that leads us to cheat on diets that eliminate our favourite foods and require constant calorie restriction. The alternate day diet makes overall calorie reduction much easier, and easier to sustain over time.
Most important, intermittent dieting triggers the 'skinny gene' (SIRT1) and prevents fat storage inside the cells, where it does the most damage. SIRT1 also improves fat metabolism and slows the aging process. At the cellular level, activating SIRT1 may reduce free-radical damage, a major cause of most chronic disease, and alleviate or eliminate symptoms of asthma, allergies, arthiritis, colds and infections, and peridontal disease".

The website is nearly as informative as the book actually, so might be worth a check www.AlternateDayDiet.com

On there you can use the calculator to work out what calries he would recommend on an up day or down day, but what I am thinking is that for me, unless I was combining low carb, sensible eating, paleo (ish) and fasting it wouldn't work. This is because I feel that if I were given that free reign of eating whatever I wanted on the up day, it really wouldn't be helping me to educate myself in eating a sensible amount and type of food. I like the thought that, even if low carb wasn't seeing me lose too many pounds, but I was gaining the health benefits that I know I do when low carbing, then the 2 fasting days a week at sub 500 cals would actually even out my weekly calorie intake quite nicely (not to mention releasing the SIRT1 and slowing the anti aging process - HURRAH!).

Also read an interesting article here The metabolism miracle: The revolutionary diet that can help you stay slim forever | Mail Online which includes some nice low carb recipes at the end.

If you fancy the Alternate Day book just shout and I'll send mine down to you.

Yes, I agree. I know that low carb needs full fat, and in all honesty its something I feel I can maintain. I will enjoy having cream, Greek yoghurt, cheese etc in my meals.

Fab idea with the spreadsheet. Surely the way to be successful (in most anything) is being organised, so you will soon be super-skinny for life!

I've booked the husband and I into a cookery school in Bali. They will take us to the village market, explain the foods we buy and then take us back for the morning and teach us some authentic Indonesian recipes.
I can't wait as stir fry will feature in the future low carb plan, and my husband can't really cook (yet!).

Good morning m'lovely, hope it's as sunny with you as it is here.

I'm in another size 14 pair of cropped Jeans, and I can now very much see the difference in my shape all over.
I'm feeling happy, positive, focused and organised for life. Bring it on!

I've found a local lady that does colour matching sessions. You book in and she coaches you in clothing colours and styles that suit you, make up etc. I'm thinking if booking in for late August.

Very interesting. What are your thoughts having read it? I will initially be doing 2 fasting days whilst trying to lose my final stone or so after my holiday, then re evaluate for maintenance.

Hmmm, each sensible 'for' opinion regarding dieting in general has an equal and valid 'against' argument.
I think, as it says in there, I need to listen to my body and treat it with love.
Perhaps I would be better to low carb as per Protein Power, then if weight loss stalls I could try an intermittent fast. My head is swimming now!

Go team GB, fifth in the medal table now and 2 more gold!! Possibly some more to come in the velodrome. Loving these games.

Ooh no periods, yes please - I'm not in the baby making market either!
Yes, window of eating = good plan in my book.
