My story warts n all....I've started

Aww Im so happy for you both and for Biscuit, you sound like very selfless, loving people! I've never had a dog and my daughter is 2 now and I would love one for her, but I cant as I live in a first floor flat without a garden and pets aren't allowed. I cant wait to have a house and get a little dog :) x

We have always had animals, especially dogs but always gone for rescue dogs. However for the last couple of years in UK we didn't have our own dog as I puppy walked for the Guide dogs for the blind and had their pups from 6 weeks for a year and did all their initial training and socialising, plus we boarded working guide dogs when owners went in hospital. We've also had a pig and 3 horses over the years, but no more farm animals other than chickens these days as they are far too much work and expense. We will stick to our 2 cats and soon to be 2 dogs.

I think that animals are wonderful creatures and are so willing and loving especially if treated well, shown love, attention, fed and have somewhere comfortable to sleep.
I do hope that one day you will get your house with a garden and can have the dog that you would dearly love to have.

Today is remembrance day and we are going to walk up into town with Biscuit to the war memorial; we're not sure what sort of service goes on but thought we would walk up and show our respect. Then after we will walk up to the sports cafe bar and sit and have a drink, giving Biscuit a chance to experience something different, as I doubt he has been taken to a cafe before and its all about teaching him and exposing him to all the new sights and sounds we can so he does not become a fearful dog.

I actually ate some bread last night and this morning have had a dreadful pain (like trapped wind) in my lower tummy. I did often wonder if I had an intolerance to bread as I could bloat up after eating it. I won't have any more for a good few days and will then review the situation.

The remembance service was really quite touching and there was quite a good turnout, about 100 people and when you think its only a smallish town that was more than we expected. The procession marched in silence to the war memoral and then a speech was given by the Mayor. Wreaths were laid and then the mayor read out the names of each person who died in the wars/conflicts from our town and after each name another dignatory replied with "Died for France". I thought it was very touching and respectful to remember each person individually. Then the National Anthem was played. Afterwards everyone was invited to the town hall for a drink, but as we had Biscuit with us we just walked on to the cafe and sat with a coffee. Biscuit was quite good; he wasn't sure about the trumpets/bugle but once we got to the cafe he sat like a good boy under the table. After enjoying the cafe in the sunshine we took the long way home to give Biscuit more of a walk and now he is fast asleep on my feet, AGAIN LOL!!! My hubby is also asleep.

Oh bless him he sounds like such a cutie :) glad all is well

I love reading your diary, you should consider writing for a living! If you've ever read Chocolat - that's the author you remind me of lol!!!

Anyway, glad to see Biscuit is settling, he sounds absolutely adorable! And he will love Lucy to bits no doubt....

We now have two and it was the best thing we ever did!!

Have a fab weekend! :0) x

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me ee,
Happy Birthday to me. 48 today but my motto is I may grow old but I will never ever grow up!!!
I got breakfast in bed this morning, black coffee and half a bar in a napkin, plus a beautiful handbag, cookery book from the Best british Bake-off, cupcake stand and best of all a silver little dog charm for my bracelet; and all this from my wonderful husband. I am definately a lucky girl and I love him so much.
I have got cards and money from other family members and hopefully the other cards from the kids should arrive later today (tho yesterday was a bank holiday in france, so possibly may not get them now till monday; But I know they posted them and that is all that matters)

Hubby is taking me out for lunch today (I decided to go out for lunch rather than dinner as Biscuit will be left for the first time and I didn't want to leave him during the evening then us come home and go straight to bed. so we will be out for a couple of hours and then back for the remainder of the day so hopefully he wont fret too much.)

Woo hoo I finished knitting the silver shrug and yes it is a little big but still wearable and hubby says it looks great. So now I have started on a chunky charcoal grey long sweater, god knows how long that will take me to make lol.
Right enough for now; I shall go and shower and beautify myself for my date lol. x

:birthday: :candle1:

Enjoy your birthday lunch and a few vin's??
You've had lovely pressies, you truly are blessed with a lovely hubby and family. xx

I've had a lovely day and the cards from the kids arrived too, so all in all perfect.
The only down side of today is one of the cats is missing :( We saw Milly yesterday morning for breakfast and havent seen her since. We didn't worry initially as she did this once before but turned up 36 hours later as tho nothing had happened; but there is still no sign of her so we are beginning to get worried. All this animal malarky is no good for one's nerves, if it's not one of them its another. You think we would learn, but with a current total of 14, soon to become 15 we must be gluttons for punishment.
I am hopeful she will come strolling in soon.

Awwwww I hope Milly strolls in with her tail between her legs very soon xxx

is very pleased that Milly Moo came home at 6pm, ate her tea, then Billy's tea, then dry cat biscuits, went to the toilet came back and jumped on the dinner table to try to eat our tea, (yeah right, dream on pussy cat lol) so chucked her off and ended up giving her another meal. Now she has disappeared again; thats gratitude for you, but so glad she's safe x

Hi ya xx been catching up with your thread .. so glad that Milly moo came home and that she was ok x hope you do well for your weigh in tomorrow honey xx and so so glad that you are enjoying life with the new puppy xx

Little miss independant eh? Comes in starving, eats everything in sight and beggers off again. Sounds like our teenager lol ;)

Glad she's home safe and sound xxx

I have missed my weigh-in this morning, no it's not an excuse, but here goes. The scales are in the bedroom and hubby and I have been taking it in turns to get up early with the new dog as he always needs an early wee. But for the last few nights neither of us has slept well because of Milly being awol. As you know Milly was back home last night and cuddled up and slept on our bed but at 5 am this morning she started nudging us and mewing to be fed AGAIN! there was no way she would settle again so I got up with her. Then I went on to have my half bar and 3 cups of coffee before I remembered it was weigh day. So I am not getting on the scales now, I will wait for tomorrow.
I have decided to set up a puppy play group so that dogs can run and play in a secure environment off lead as dogs over here dont get that chance as it is an offence to have a dog off lead in a public place. I put out some feelers last week and so far have 4 people interested so I am going to plan starting it next week just to give Biscuit a little longer to settle in with us. I thought it would be good for the dogs and also a good way to get to know some new people in the area.
I believe there is a new Line Dancing class that has started nearby and so I am going to make some more enquiries and if possible I would like to start as I used to love line dancing a few years ago.
