Hi - I've just started LLL (on Tuesday) and have a few questions if anyone can help!

Firstly, how much do you expect to lose per week if you're following LLL to the letter?

Can you/should you be doing exercise as well?

Anyone got any quick evening meal suggestions?

Sorry for all the questions but I really need to shift 3 stone before my wedding in August and preferably before that so I can get my dress fitted properly!

LIGHTERLIFE LITE.

Hi, welcome to lighterlife lite !! I started a week and half ago, doing great lost 5lb on tues at first weigh in.May i suggest you go onto 'Lighterlife community forum' it's great if you have'nt been on yet.Everyone there is on the same diet plan and their blogs, tips, recipes and general advice is really invaluable. I know what you mean about meal inspirations, you really have to think about it don't you ? My favourite this week is 100g prawns with 100g low fat cottage cheese with a big mixed salad of whatever you fancy, it's lovely. Tonight it's 200g quorn mince in a casserole dish with tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, green pepper, courgette, mixed herbs and tomato puree. With mashed veg-carrots and swede.fab !!. just keep experimenting, you get used to it, and read recipe ideas on the Lighterlife forum.I also fill up on sparkling water with the st.clements and the forestfruit flavours in, there gorgeous, tastes like pop. They say about exercise to wait till your body gets used the diet and your not light headed/ faint or dizzy, it's each to their own really it is how you feel yourself as to how much you do and when, it's best to do some exercise as with all diets. It'll only do good for your weight loss and fitness also tone up the skin as you shrink !!
Wishing you all the luck, keep us posted.

Heya Silverine - welcome to LL Lite! :D
I am confident that you will definitely lose 3 stone by August - however, weight loss on these diets is fairly individual. Personally on both the abstinence AND Lite I usually lost 1lbs or 2lbs per week. 3lbs was when I was extremely lucky! I never cheated on the plan, I'm just a slow loser! I didn't find that there was a loss difference between the 'mainsteam' plan or Lite. Some people do report 3-4lbs losses per week, so you must never 'expect' to lose a certain number... Our bodies are not machines and we cannot treat them this way! Remember that there are so many factors affecting our weight - such as muscle build up (usually from exercise), water retention, digestive waste build-ups (you may experience some constipation on this diet... just to warn you..!), and whatever else our bodies decide to get up to!

However - it really does help do watch your veggie portions! If you can cut out some of the protein portion - every little helps! It is not a 'requirement' for you to eat ALL of the daily allowance of the program. You must not exceed 800 calories per day (3 packs, the milk, and the meal all inclusive)... apart from that... happy dieting, and you WILL achieve your goal by August - so long as you stick to it 100%!

:D

Thanks for your replies guys. When you say watch your veggie portion do you mean I need to make sure I'm not eating more than the 'cereal bowl' recommended? I thought veggies were so low in calories i didn't matter much...

Also - does anyone know why we can't have red peppers or sugar free mints?

Yes and no Silverine. :) Vegetables ARE low in calories in comparison to many other foods, but as with all good things: it all does add up!
When I did Lite I went in with the 'oh vegetables, I can eat more than a cereal bowl!!' ... and consequently I didn't lose very quickly. Then I cut back, and stopped 'snacking' on it during the day 'just because it's allowed' and my weight loss picked up a bit of pace.

100g of Broccoli/Cauliflower (raw) is about 35 calories. 100g raw carrots is about 40. And when you weigh them out - visually it's actually not so much, so it's very easy to over-do the veggie portion. ;) Salad leaves on the other hand, is about 15cal per 100g - and that's visually quite a lot!
It's all about balance, and learning to assess visual portions, knowing how much one should have... I know that the lesson I've taken away from Lite more-so than any other is knowing how much I NEED, rather than how much I WANT.

If I can suggest one simple change: get a smaller plate. Visually and mentally it will help enormously! :D

The mints I think is because of the different kinds of sweetners (notice you can't have 'powedered' varieties) in them that may clash with the Lite thing. It's also getting out of the habit of snacking unnecessarily.
Red/Yellow/Orange peppers have more natural sugar in them, however, personally the difference is negligable, and I never followed that rule. I had any colour bell peppers!

A bit of a random question, but are you allowed things like eggs, tuna, ham on the lighterlife lite programme? I'm doing the LL at the moment but thinking about switchin to the lite programme once i've lost 2 stone :)

Yep, you can have eggs, tuna and ham (and other things like chicken, quorn, red meat, other fish, quark, cottage cheese etc...) - it's just portion controlled. It's 2 eggs per day for the meal portion along with some veggies (not all - but a good selection) and salad - people usually opt to make a 'bigger' meal instead of an omelette for dinner! :D
Ask your LLC for the little guide book, I'm sure she'll provide you with one - or at least let you have a flick through!

:)

That's great, thanks for the info :) I had 3 stone to lose, and i've lost 1 so far. The idea of being able to eat something each day is lovely. My LL Counsellor said i could start on the Lite programme but i opted for the main one, already beginning to wonder why ha x

Well done on your loss so far!!!
Though, do not underestimate abstinece. ;) I was on abstinence for 9 months, and then did Lite for quite a while too. You learn many things on LL, and you learn to implement them on Lite.
Food and how one eats is not too straight forward - it is important to take the vice out of the equation completely, and reset the boundaries from scratch ... If you'd started Lite to begin with - perhaps the cutting down, but not eliminating completely would have made you feel 'deprived' (as it does for some people) ... but because you took away everything and THEN are going to try to do Lite after - the mentality will be reverse : one of priviledge.

:)
