Hi,
I've done WW and SW plans a number of times, although the new propoints plan is still a little new to me!! I know it doesn't show by my stats that ive had any success with either plan, but I can assure you this is due to my own failings, not those of either plan, and I'm back on the wagon now!! The plans are very different, despite both being successful, an it just depends what type of person you are!!
WW
this is good for a control freak, who enjoys having numbers and physical limits, and sticking to these. Although it now allows a bit more flexibility than before, with the larger range of free foods there's still a lot of weighing and measuring, and you need to have the time/inclination to do so. If you're a bit lax with portion control, this plan will soon kick that out of you!! It costs a little more, although with the monthly plan option this extra cost is almost irrelevant! In my past experience the groups are less useful than SW ones, but then again I rejoined last week and both group and leader seem fantastic!! If you eat a lot of convenience foods, like ready meals and pre-pack sarnies etc, this plan is easier, as anything can be worked into your points.
SW
this is the 'lazy girls diet!!', as soon as you've learnt the list of free foods, you could literally eat all day everyday without having to weigh and measure your food!! Theres three plans, perfect for veggies, carnivores, and those who like a bit of both. You can swap and change plans. I do find that it's so easy to overeat on this plan, and this didnt suit a greedy pig like me, however I'll be honest and say that I'm hoping to lose my weight with WW and then switch to SW once I know my portions/appetite better as I feel it'll be a more flexible and enjoyable way to maintain! Groups are a little more informal, and the online resources aren't as good, but if you need support its there. If you like to cook from scratch this plan is easy to follow, and I find it cheaper overall to follow, however coming from a VLCD you'll
Welcome any reduction in price!! Convenience foods are difficult to work into this plan sometimes as because you're encouraged to eat mostly free (unprocessed, fresh, healthy) foods, your syn (or point) allowance is considerably lower.
The plans will suit different people, and also it will depend on the place you are in life, do you have time to cook? Do you want freedom? Do you like weighing and counting?
Both plans are fab, and please don't think you will be judged, everyone was at the start of their journey once, and was feeling in some way down about themselves. We all remember the feeling of our first group and the fear of what people will think. Do not worry, you'll be welcomed into either fold with open arms!!
Good luck with whatever you decide, and rest assured if you need any more support, both WW and SW minimin'ers are amazing, and have helped me out numerous times!!
