It's so stressful. I'm so ashamed. Never in my life have I had nits. Hubby's really chilled about it as he's has them. I've gone mental and disinfected half the house before I calmed down. Sheets, pillowcases and duvets have all had a boil wash. Think I've caught it early. Thank goodness.

I've bought tea tree shampoo and conditioner. A nitty gritty comb and some leave in not mousse. We put mousse on this am. Have conditioned then ran the nit comb through tonight followed by a good shampoo in tea tree and then, when dry, the mousse has gone on again.

I've contacted her classmates and told them she has nits do look at their own kids hair and treat regardless. Hopfully it stops before it has even started.

Nikki it happens -- most kids get them. It s much worse ms than when you were a kid because the nits are mre resistant be as of over treatment.

Do as I say - was her hair once a week and pull a fine youth comb through it and then bow it dry. It'll keep it from happening.

Probably a stupid question, but as a veteran of nits... You have checked your own and hubby's hair, haven't you? You don't need to use the mousse - just check using the nit comb. In fact, after the first time, Sam got them (think he had them around 4 times in total over the course of about 8 years ), I didn't bother with nit shampoo/mousse at all. If you wash the hair every 3 days, put conditioner in and comb through with the nit comb, then you'll be clear in a fortnight without the need for chemicals (and no one will be particularly contagious in the interim). Headlice can't reproduce until they reach a certain size, so if you clear them as they hatch, no problem.

Don't be ashamed, it happens to all of us with kids eventually. It's a pain in the neck, but nothing awful, I promise. It really is true that headlice prefer clean hair. It also probably means that Em's good at mixing with other children - a good thing, right? - because they can't jump, they can only crawl from hair to hair (I.e., heads have to be in close contact!).

Its like the dog getting fleas. If he socialises its inevitable. Its not nice, but you treat it and move on.

I've just had mine coloured at the hairdressers. In there twice a week. It was blond but now brown. It's unlikely I have them. The colour changes the hairs shaft texture which nits don't like. I'll do mine on Monday before my app on Tuesday.

The mousse isn't a pesticide. It's different. It kills by suffocation. I've seen the lice but they're very tiny. Not yet fully grown in my opinion. I think we caught it early. Ive seen some major lice in my time teaching. Horrid things. Big fat and juicy.

Perfect analogy! Clean hair and kids from good homes get lice, too. It's like catching a cold.

Well we've combed the past 2 nights and it's def less tonight. They're do so tiny though! I counted about 22 tonight that I could see. They're not moving. Good news I think. Another tea tree shampoo and mousse in again. Tomorrow just comb and tea tree shampoo. Then every other day combing. Mousse on Friday again.

Well did ems hair tonight. Can't see any eggs in her hair, but thought there were about 4 in the bowl after the combing session. Still being rigorous in it all. I'll do it again tomorrow. Miss Thursday then do again Friday with mousse going on again.

Bought her her own riding hat today. Need to get dude one but he's being fussy... Too tight etc. he's not going riding til he has his own hat.

had an odd dream last night.

i had a dream where i gave birth to a baby girl. i didn't know i was pregnant and it was at 26 weeks, but the baby was fully grown. we called her amelia and as soon as she was born she smiled at me. she didn't need feeding and was, therefore, very self-sufficient. she was beautiful. i felt that this was why i hadn't been loosing weight.

very strange dream as i'm never intending to have another child. i love the 2 i have.

At least you're just dreaming about babies, one of the assistants at work asked me 'how's bump?' And then proceeded to ask my if I was sure when I told her I'm not actually pregnant argued with her for a bit the said I'm not pregnant just fat she didn't even have the grace to blush never mind apologise. I was mortified :cry:
