O/T Almost ready to start dating again

Hi I've used dating internet sites in the past - Match is the most well known so probably the most people. Also eharmony and dating direct are quite well known - have a mooch and see what you think - you can often get free trials to tempt you to sign up.

My only tip is that you get access to everyone and anyone so keep this in mind - I think you have to use your inbox like a filter and (this sounds mean!) let all the spam go to your trash pile without affecting you! You do get a very large proportion of scummy idiots emailing you alongside your average men... and then I found every few weeks you'd get a fantastic email that made it worth it - they're the ones to hang in there for! I like internet datng because I think you can meet all kinds of people that you might never ordinarily get the chance to meet.

I'd also say that email can be a very misleading way of communicating so speak to people on the telephone before your emotions get too involved and meet up as soon as you're confident to. Hope this helps!

Keep me posted - I'm almost ready to start dating again too!

Try your local Gumtree too. Its free ads, and it does well to bear in mind mist are genuine but you get a few bangers on there so take no notice of them.

I met my husband too internet dating. It can be done :)

Brilliant advice from Contrarytintagel.. I had my fingers burnt before I met my hubby, messaging and chatting to a guy, waited weeks to meet and when we did he was nothing like I had imagined, I had seen lots of pic's but meeting in the flesh is the way forward.. Just a coffee in the afternoon, within 30 seconds you will know if you want to see them again..

Good luck xx

I met my hubby on Dating direct and agree with the advice from Contrarytintagel and Diet4-40. We just sent a couple of quick e-mails then spoke to each other on the phone to arrange meeting up the next week.

Good luck with your search!

Thanks everyone! I'm very very nervous about the whole dating thing, but know I've got to get on with it. The first few times are bound to be the worst!
