Observations, mutterings and the gerbera effect

Thanks all! I've had a great day health wise today and after tea will only have eaten about 1200 calories, so am under by 900 with all the excerise today. I might have a supper of cheese and crackers if I'm feeling hungry later!

My birthday is 24 th and I shall be 44 "sigh" where did all that time go!?

Oh blimey ninja turtles huh? I'll fight you for the purple one Noddy! Otherwise I bagsy red!
LFM should be the leader shes so fired up! ( grin) , we need to keep this level up ladies!
Onwards and downwards!

great news that you had a good day Gem, isn't it a good feeling at the end of a day when you have succeeded and survived ;)

I vaguely remember my kids being interested in the turtles, can't remember how many turtles? I think 3 or 4....anyway if there is a chunky one who tries her(his) best to keep up with the others, as she(he) puffs and pants at the back....then I've got to be that one!!!!! :D

I agree, LFM for leader :) :) :) :)

'donatella, raphael.... and????....and??????' (plus the chunkie at the back!)

Have a lovely day Gem :) I really liked your webpage, you have a talent there! well done :)

44?....just a child my dear...just a child!

Morning peeps!
Wow, what a week! Where did it go? Sorry for not keeping up...it's just my eyes get so tired when I'm working on a pc all day, coming home I just want to relax! I need to have a look at this site on the pc rather than using the app, seems I'm missing out on a lot of functionality!

Work has just been manic with one major project stepping up a gear and two minor ones needed wrapping up by mid next week and all on top of a busy day job my head has been spinning! BUT I'm very proud that I have been super on track and according to myfitnesspal I'm 388 cals under every day for the week so far! You might like it LFM , it's a much less regimented way of ensuring you eat enough but loose weight and it's free! I've cycled 33 miles and walked about 10 and despite one fish and chip supper and a custard tart have been very focused which is unusual when I'm under pressure!

Yesterday my son left school ( he's still going back for exams until mid June) and he had his prom last night. He looked so grown up but I'm really pleased for him. As an Aspie he's been fighting to be an adult since he was about 6! and he's flourishing! Just got to help him with study plans for the next 4 weeks for his 12 GCSEs and an interview for a temp scheme where I work so he might even be working by the end of June to save some money for college! I'm a very proud mum right now! Hubby and I had a date last night whilst dear son was at the prom, we went for a romantic stroll along the beach and then cuddled up for a movie....lovely way to end the working week!

Going to have a good cleaning day today and do the weeks shopping...gawd the cost of living is going up so quickly it's getting more difficult to make ends meet at the end of the month and we are both working!

Observation of the Week: making money stretch is a bit like calorie counting. You have a daily budget of calories which you can spend wisely or fritter away but thats the limit. If you use too many calories your body goes into debt and the deeper you get in the harder it is to climb out!

But I WILL be a healthy weight and I WILL be out of debt in the next two years! Woohoo! Working hard at both right now!

Have a lovely weekend everyone

12 GCSEs :eek::eek: Awsome

A well earned cuddle night me thinks lol
Debt and calories so funny:D

I think both adults working now stands for very little financialy Gem.

My lad and his partner thought they would be well into a better standard of living by now as they are both employed fulltime. Sadly she is now concidering dropping to 16 hours. They just cant live with out some government help. Why should anyone have to think that way or even concider it, when they don't even want it? How sad is that 2 parents happy to work fulltime on minimum wage and they cant survive.

What is going on in this country.:( When you get rewarded better for doing nothing:mad:

You seem to be in a brilliant place hun with your regime, only a custard tart and fish and chips in a week. WONDER WOMAN eat your heart out lol:D:D:D

Good luck tomorrow XX

Hi Gem

phew what a lot you have fitted into a week, well done you! You deserved that lovely wind down last night, a walk on the beach with hubby and a cuddle, my kind of evening!!!!

You also deserve to be as proud as punch of your son, how fantastic to have such a bright future ahead of him. As you know my son has the same syndrome, and I have shed an ocean of tears and a mountain of worries the past few years and he is only 6!!!!! but he is an adorable child and in my hearts of hearts I know he is going to be a very bright and adorable adult too!!!! Your story gives me hope and inspiration.
Did your son enjoy his prom? Oh dear, don't they grow up quick???

On the diet front, well done for staying 'in the zone' forget the fish and chips (yum yum!!!!) ahem, I mean forget the wee treats, I am beginning to believe we need a treat now and then to stay focused the majority of the time, if that makes sense? lol or is that just me and my wishful thinking

Have a lovely weekend gem :)

Hi Gem!

have just sat and read through your diary and it is very inspiring! I have the same amount of weight to lose as you did and it has helped me see it is doable!! I live in Poole too!!

Good luck with your birthday target I'm sure you will do it! xx

It's a very sad state of affairs...and I thought the aim of this government was to turn the tables and that working would always pay off "sigh" but there we go!
I have been good this week...just hope the scales reflect it tomorrow!

Thanks Rose. I have a great nephew who is more severely autistic with a smattering of ADHD and his Mum always says my son s an inspiration to her and gives her hope. When you think years ago the condition wasn't even diagnosed and people just had to get on with it! I certainly think my dad is an Aspie...when you ask him the time you always get the hours, minutes and seconds back as an answer lol

I think you do need treats, just not every day and the myfitnesspal does help me to get the balance right. I think it's all about balancing and generally sticking to a 90/10 rule when you are trying to loose weight. If you stick to plan 90% of the time 10% unhealthy is very realistic and doesn't damage the weight loss so much. And boy do I enjoy those treats when I have them!

Hi Jayde

Welcome to a fellow Poolite! "waves".

Reading all that must have been a marathon in itself (grin). We are so lucky where we live, loads to go out and do, it's just about finding something active you love doing and fitting it in with your lifestyle. Tipping the balance in the loosing direction rather than the gaining! Are you following a plan or doing it yourself? Sorry I can't see peoples details as I use the app not the website.

Thanks for the luck, I'm gonna need it to hit target but as long as I'm nearly there it's still a good acheivement.

Good luck with your journey and look forward to getting to know you

Hi!! At the moment I'm going to ww. It's beautiful here today waiting for the OH to get in and then go for a walk somewhere :)

It was a marathon read your diary but glad I did it! Have a good day x

Ok now I'm going to freak you all out and confess I like Eurovision and watch it every year...yes I'm sad but hey we like what we like and I've never been conventional!
Anyway...usually we have a table laden with things to nibble and the boys wanted to carry on the tradition this year. Didn't like to disappoint so I had a very light breakfast and lunch and hit tescos to see what I could find to entice. I swapped sausage rolls for mini sausages and chicken legs, chose a lower calorie crisp selection and only had a handful of each. Choose a mini Chinese selection and mini breadsticks instead of pork pies and pasties. We had carrot, celery and pepper sticks with low fat dip, diced pineapple and mango and I swapped water for my usual wine or J2o....result? I probably went over calories but not massively so and I feel great this morning!

Well my favourites, Moldova didn't win and my sweepstake random choice Greece didn't either but we had a good old family evening together and no one felt deprived so my work there is done.

Having a very lazy Sunday morning ( with no breakfast as I'm not hungry from eating late last night), drinking plenty of water to combat the salt intake and will have a roast dinner with lean pork escalopes, dry roast potatoes and loads of veg and gravy later ...yum!

Have a great Sunday everyone and look forward to weigh in tomorrow!

Hi Gem

you are sounding happy and motivated, well done! I loved your eurovision party snacks :)..sounded yummy, wish I'd been there!!!

I too watch eurovision EVERY year!!!..and I thought this year there seemed to be an awful lot of good songs, compared to other years and many if not all but one? sung in english..unusual? was Moldova those with the black gigantic beehives? I noticed UK gave them a high score. I liked Denmark, and even dicovered my foot tapping to Ireland..JEDWARD  didn't like the winning song much, and thought uk would have got more points, but still didn't reckon it would win though ...poor Blue, but still, Duncan James is pretty easy on the eye these days!!! ;)

Ahem..back to the world of lifestyle changing, well done on your snack choices last night and your dinner sounds yummy today, I am having something similiar :) yes, much as it would be lovely, but unproductive to have a wee treat every day, I think one every now and then is okay in moderation, and its built in to your allowance for the day, rather than added to it

I reckon an awful lot of people on the autistic spectrum went undiagnosed years ago and even these days too! I also believe if you really look deep and long enough, an awful lot of friends, family etc have one or two traits. Even myself, I can't socialise very well and blame my weight, hubby gets VERY obsessional about new ventures he's involved in...and football!!...way beyond just 'interested'

Have a lovely sunday, enjoy your day, good luck for tomorrow Gem :)

HI Gem
